Hello, I know I've already suggested a forum once, but I was wondering, with the new update, seems a few things have changed. Do you suppose a small forum for board related questions or bug reports would be good. I saw the balto questions forum but I figured that was for questions about balto in general, not the board.
I'd gladly be the first poster!
When I try and link my avitar, it says "Sorry, that is not a valid file extension"
I have tried linking it both in gif and jpg forms.
Please help x.x

The only thing I know to suggest is, when you tried linking to it, did you keep the http:// part in the URL? Other than that, I'll wait until I see what Silver says.

Err, techically this is the help forum. Well, it can double as a help forum, so there's no need for a new one.
As for your avatar, that's a strange problem indeed. Did you test the avatar on your own server before linking it? If so, did you make the possible mistake that CW pointed out? I'd double check to see if you haven't one or the other. If that doesn't work, e-mail me the avatar and I'll give it a try. ^_^;

It shows up fine on a server I have. And I did add the http ect part. I'll try a few more times though.

Don't feel bad Wolfy, it's doing the same darn thing to me! I have the http:// part and everything, the pixels and dimentions are perfect, they're not even 100 by 100, and it won't let me upload it! I mean, I drew t a pic specialy and specifically for my av, and now it won't work. Maybe the place where you uplosd the av's is slow or something.
But yeah, Wolfy your not the only one this is happening to.

Maybe the servers don't allow remote linking (showing their images on different sites)? Which server did you upload your avatars to?

I've tried both Bloop and Angilfire.

Send me the avatar, I'll check it out for you.

I don't know about Bloop, but Angelfire, if I recall correctly, is one of those sites that don't allow remote linking of their images.

Oh, and Echo Husky, you get the avitar option when you reach fifty posts. That's why you can't find it. 83-106196071606 Sep 2003, 15:12 UTC
Okay lemme take a look at for you, Wolfy.
And yes she's right. I know it's annoying right now, but I also wanted to give people the option of changing their member titles as well. So it's like a trade off of sorts.
*Edit*
Hmm, it could have been that your avatar was in a .JPG format and not .jpg, Wolfy. I changed the file name to lowercase in Photoshop, uploaded it to my server and tested it out. It worked fine for me. If you'd like to reupload the image to your own server with the lower case file extension, here's the file. http://www.theicecave.org/temp/avviwolfytib.jpg
If it still doesn't work for you on your server, I'll host the image for you.

Oh, thankyou, Silver! I didn't know that JPG and jpg were different. A million thanks! ^^

You're very welcome, i'm glad I could help! And I learned something new about the board in the process. ;)

We'll need to add another FAQ for problems with avatars! Oy. *Slaps Ikonboard for being case sensitive.*
106-106196082207 Sep 2003, 00:36 UTC
That is a good idea ^^
83-106196071607 Sep 2003, 15:35 UTC
I'll get around to it in my free time. ^_^; I'm actually trying to *gasp!* update TIC at the moment.

Um..I think I managed to upload my avatar, on my screen I can see it. However, I've experienced this problem in other forums before, where only I can see my av and other people can't, because I need a different link. To you guys, it will appear as a small box with a little red "X" in it. Can you guys see it?
77-106196065608 Sep 2003, 03:08 UTC
Yep the red x is there. When I went to the site where your picture is it took me to a log in. I think that in order to see the image you have to be a member there or something with the permissions. I don't know about hpphotos since I don't use them.
