Online users?...

Well, I've noticed that the "online users" list on the bottom of the main page doesn't show anymore; I'm not sure if it's only me, is it a CGI bug? Is a transfer attempt to PHP planned soon? The boards are still regularly slow...
I noticed a lot of that too.  I can't IM anyone when I check my Inbox.  I'm becoming a bit mad at that fact.  Is there a cure for this virus?   :(
You're not alone Steet, It's on mine to.
Yep.  You're not alone Steet.  I think it's being spead somehow.  Maybe we need to watch what we upload and stuff.
Yeah the same thing is happening to me as well, and somtimes the forum will slow down to a crawl when too.
Guess what, mines WORSE, I can't even log into TIB for several days! All seems ok for me now since I check the "yes" box in that remember my log in details thing. But, yep, guess we aren't alone, the online users doesn't show anything, and yes, it sometimes does get slow....I wonder what's going on?
Firstly, it's not a virus. A simple code error in the CGI, probobly caused by a failed attempt to convert the DBM database into MySQL is causing the online users to not show up. This will be fixed probobly by next Friday.

The speed issue is caused by two things: the servers being overloaded and the DBM database not supporting the number of members we have. Again, this should be fixed by next Friday.

I should remind you all that this has already been covered in the Announcements forum. ;)

Now, as far as you not being able to log onto AIM, that's your own problem, not in any way asscociated with TIB.
To add to what 27 said, I suspect the online users problem is more than just a failed CGI conversion.  Even after the failed attempt, there wasn't a problem with the OU showing up.  It wasn't until Hudson (my host) started offloading server content.  In the process, something here at TIB may be been corrupted.  I noticed the problem Tuesday night and tried to find a bad file or help online.  I couldn't find either.  And I thought it'd be pointless to start a new topic for every *little* change or problem.  But yes, if you're aware of the problem, more than likely I am too.

The only reason it hasn't been fixed yet, is because next Friday the boards will be down to fix and stablize the database.  I will make an annoucement for that as well.

As for your computer, run a virus or spyware scanner. ???
