A search for artists

After reading the Forum Rules regarding looking for Avatar artists, I started wondering if there was actually a way to find out who the artists are on TIB? I personally am an artist, but I was wondering how other users would find us?

I was wondering if we could find some way of identifying members as artists. Perhaps a link to a page with their names, or something like that. Or an icon next to their username, like a pencil, etc. Just a way of making it easy for other members to find out who the artists are.

Just a thought. Comments??

PS: I'm very busy with commissions, so unfortunately I cannot draw any Avatars atm. =)

I suppose an extra page on TIC would be the way to do it. I don't know how you could do it on the forums without simply looking in the art section. I suppose that way people can see the art and who drew it *shrugs* it's a good idea though.

Heh... it's just an idea, so I really have no idea how to make it work. One way was for a page on the boards somewhere with a list of the artists and possibly what media they use and what they are able to do. Also possibly a link to their respective art-related sites.

Secondly, perhaps a little pencil icon next to their name on the forums. I've noticed people with a little lightbulb there.

All just suggestions. Hehehe, it'll probably die out within a week. =)

Sounds like a plan to me. I have always wondered exactly who are the artsy people.

It might also be a good way for fellow artists to arrange commissions and trades between each other. =)

i dont get it. is this going to be so people can hit you up for free avatars or can you state "by commission only"? I've had some seriously bad experiences in the past with members of this board hounding me and stalking me for free avatars, which is why i don't want to be included if thats what its going to be.

I have considered the problem of people going after artists like that. I just wanted to help create a page where the people who are artists can advertise their work. People looking for Avatars, etc, would be able to look at the list and see who they want to draw something for them. Also, the artists themselves would have a way to talk to each other, to arrange trades and stuff like that.

As for "hounding" for art. I don't know how we could deal with a problem like that. If people want to be persistant, even after you've said no, then that's their problem. But I agree, I'd be a little more than upset too if I had a dozen people asking me over and over for free doodles, etc.

You're already a well known artist among your friends, so if you don't want everyone to know you're doing Avatars for people, then perhaps it's best if you didn't join the list. If we make one. But I'm still trying to figure out how to make it work, either way.

More information to follow. But if any of the Admins would like to e-mail me so we can discuss the possibilities, that would be very helpful. =)

If some of the artists were interested in doing it, pinning a topic would be the most feasible plan. �It would of course be done in the artwork section, as people would naturally look there. �But only such a thing should be done if it had the support of a number of active artists around here. �And only the support of those on the list, to avoid problems like Thorn pointed out. �As those were pretty annoying back in the day. ^_^;

Yeah, I can understand that. I've had to stop accepting commissions from people because I let them all get me bogged down.

Anyway, if any artists are interested, please post here or send me an e-mail. I'll also make a post in the Art section of the forums to grab more people's attention. But hey, if it doesn't work out then that's fine. Just an idea. =)

I read the rules about what kind of pictures can't be posted, which I understand, but I have to ask this. Would it be all right for a drawing to have the "symbol of Satan" in it? I made a character based on my name, and on the shirt, I put Motley Crue and in the middle of the shirt, is the symbol of Satan. I'll post it up in the art section if you're having problems picturing it.

well either way i think thats a great idea, not for me personally, i like being piccie less, and if i wanted one i have a great artist only one IM away, but it's a good idea, for this forum i take it all the code was copyed, or something similar, but if any of you admins understand codeing well enough i'm sure you could figure out how to do that penciley thingy KhakiWolf mentioned.
