What do they mean exactly?

I'm pretty sure this isn't in the rules/FAQ, as I've read them many times, but it might be somewhere else I've missed, so apologies if that's the case.

The little yellow squares some people accumulate.. I take it you can have up to five... presumably they're for rule infringements. I was just wondering how having them affects your status on the board - and whether they drop off over time, the same as say demerit points for speeding (at least in the Australian system).

Not that I plan to get any of these things. I'm just curious about how things work. I assume people are notified privately if they cop one, too, as I haven't noticed any public announcements.

We usually determine whether or not to reprimand people publically. Sometimes it is of benifit if it seems to be an emerging problem to warn members publically to ensure other members know it isn't an appreciated behavior.

As far as what they do, it's mostly to remind us of how many times they've been offensive, so we can determine about how far they have left until a suspension. Of course, it's not all we can do, we can also lower their post count to a negative number to remove other privaledges, suspend for any given length of time, and of course permanantly ban. Of course, we try to be pretty lenient, for the most part. ;)
