In Bucharest, Romania, sector 4 Parcul Tineretului (Youth Park) there is a monument with this inscription:
"Dedicat celor 50 milioane de romani ucisi de fumat, intre anii 1950-2000"
english: Dedicated to the 50 milion romanians killed by smoking between the years 1950-2000
That should raise you all some questions no?

I have alot of friends who chew and stuff, and I'm around whole crap load of fumes and stuff that could kill me, my dad is an auto parts guy.

Nah, was not hard at all. I had my first smoke at 12, many many years ago. Quite for awhile. Started again a year ago but quite permenently after finding out buddys of mine were slipping stuff I did not want in the cigs.
Bunch of no good drug heads they are. I never bought my own packs. My friends always shared theres with me.

ah I see. I've never had a cig and I plan not too.

I neither smoked either, because wierdly i hava a somekind of alergy to tobbaco (always choked and had my face and some spots on skin, well anyway that means im lucky).
Im glad that the world's opinion is changing and soon we will get rid of the ciggar for good.

I don't know what my parents will do if I start smoking. Rather filthy habit that I never will get- smells bad, wastes money, hard to quit, ruins your health. When I went to Germany, I was really surprised when I saw a vending machine for cigarettes in the lobby of the hotel
. (we don't get those in America and if we did, I'd freak) 70-110747806804 Mar 2005, 02:15 UTC

well in that case i'm the only one here who does, all i have to say is it's done nothing for me, smells bad and thats about it apart from denting my bank account i wouldn't suggest anyone start smoking ever, i was an idiot to start in the first place, and i often see ciggerette vending machines in pubs here, thats not un-common.

Its a bad thing to judge people who smoke (my father smokes and i dont judge him), its their choise.
P.S. My father when he was young said the same thing "I will never smoke!" and now he tries to get rid of this habit.
Be very careful because the friends can try to make you smoke, dont try even if they mock you or make your life miserable bacause you will live longer than them.(know a few persons wont give names)

You are right Shdrex some friends tryed to make me smoke, I just sayed "no thanks". And smoke is very expensive.

Never smoked, never will. Never wanted to. Besides, I'm allergic and start sneezing just being around people who are smoking. Even secondhand smoke makes me feel sick to my stomach. It's soooo gross.
But gosh, all those poor people who died... that's awful.

Never had a cigar, and I'm not planning to.

That are always the first simptoms that your body feels about tobacco, but the nicotine is starting to do its work and boom a new person smoking (learned this from my father and some articles from Dicovery).
Dont worry we had 50milion deaths but you americans got like triple, just search a anti-smoking site they usualy say the deaths.112-106196083322 Mar 2005, 20:03 UTC
yeah a lot of people die from smoking related diseases, when i say both my parents died from cancer most people assume they both smoked, my mom never touched one and my dad did for a breif period between 1970 and 1980. i know deaths are high of smokers and that gets me worried, but it is true what shdrex says, it's all the nicotene, also there is no reason to hate smokers, every reason to hate smoking, but to hate smokers is just as bad as hating someone different from you, like being biast against another ethnical race. Don't hate me because i smoke, this especially aimed at muk&lukLOVER, because at the end of the day you should like someone for who they are, not what they do, besides if you hate me for being a smoker, then i consider you rather shallow, sorry but i do, but if you ment smokers rather than smoker muk&lukLOVER, then i'm sorry, but by smoker, being me probably the only one (so far) who smokes on the boards, that means a direct insult to me because of what i do. and thats not right.

Seriously? When I was a kid (this was the late 1980s/early 1990s) my step-father used to take me bowling with him. While I was amusing myself in the bowling alley, I noticed a lot vending machines had cigarette packs in them. They were the old fashioned kind where you put your money in and pulled on a knob to release the cigarettes. I'd image thanks to the heavy anti-smoking campaigns those machines no longer exist. But here in the States we did once have them.
My mother was a smoker, she quit a few years ago and has never picked up a cigarette since. My lungs and overall health thank her. I've read and seen enough about what smoking does to your insides, so that's more than enough to make me never consider picking one up (also making me glad my mother quit). That and I hate being bound to hard to break habits, espeically unhealthy ones.
