Thought I'd share these with everyone, as some probably know I mush huskies for a local team and here they are..

Arg there is something saying I can't post the last image due to a restriction or something.. oh well I'll put it in my next post.
OMG THEY'RE SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awwww.
They're beautiful!
OMFG they are soooooo beautiful!!! you are incredibly lucky, Fluke...indeed you are. They are so cute! lol!

Dang...I would really like to dog sled one day. It looks to me like it would be one heck of a thrill. Heh...backpacking is fun...but I would love to try travelling great distances with a team of dogs. Meh....I am not stupid though...I am not gonna dare do anything of the sort until I know what I am doing. ^^;; heh...

I must say that looks to me like one excellent team! :;): =^_^=
Huskies, bred for perfection of running long distances.  I wouldn't mind a husky but, I have to wait until I'm out of the house.  I don't care.  Cute pups... :;):
Awwwwwww.....sooo cute. Wish I had a husky...
Cool   Nice pics Fluke.
They are really nice dogs and a pleasure to be around. Here is the pic I couldn't fit on my last post

Aww they're so pretty.  :)
Awwwwwwww................they're soooooooo cute!^^ You are lucky! I want a husky at sometime, maybe. Then again, I have Corgis for the moment, and the female one I have is pregnet. The puppies will be due Jan 22. But, I would like to have a least one.
That's cool.
Want one?LOL. Just kidding! That would be cool if I could give one to my internet friends.
Not good... **Thinking about pregnancy problems** I wouldn't want a pregnant dog .. Nah uh:(
Please Fluke post more images! They're so cute!
In future I'll buy an husky.
Pretty Dogs there.
I also want to mush and stuff.. eck.
I'll have to try and get more photos some time as those are all I have right now. I wouldn't recommend anyone getting a husky if you like your house, check out the second piccy down, that is the chair with the least husky damage.. they wreck houses lol.
I know Fluke, big dogs are dangerous for the garden. I never had one (only a small), but I can imagine the holes.
Forget the holes lol, huskies cannot be let off the lead (well in most cases) as they won't come back. They are escape artists, that reddish one in the first 2 pics can jump the fence. The fence is over 6 foot high and that is why she is inside the house. The other week she jumped through a window to escape.. the window was closed at the time lol. The ones outside have now learnt how to open that particular damaged window from the outside and as a result I was having to chuck out 8 dogs or so every 30 minutes! LOL it was fun though
WOW They are so beautiful :D Have never seen a real life huskie before this >.< Now im sure, they are totally awsome :D Great pics.
Fluke!!  Im jealose!  I wish I had a huskie..or 2....or 3........or 20!!  Any way...there so cute.
lol, your huskies are very undisciplined Fluke.
I've met a few huskies in my life.  One is a red one named Brandy.  She lives near me of course.  She's a bit territorial to strangers though.  I'm sure most huskies are.  She also has a bit of a sensitive stomach when it comes to grass, she pukes it up.  Sorry if this grosses you out.  But, it's true.  I think she's about 4 yrs of age currently.  I don't see her much but, I do see her in the summertime.
They aren't my huskies Togo I just mush them. Huskies are very hard to train to do anything but run and that includes eating furniture! But these are not pet dogs, these are working dogs so that is the main difference.

It is odd for a husky to be territorial to strangers, most love everyone which is why they make really bad guard dogs.. are you sure it's not a fear responce to strangers instead?

It makes me wonder how the people here in Philly deal with there huskies.  Since we're pretty packed together we don't have back yards.  So I wonder how they husky proof their homes, if they do at all. XD
I think the big trick is to remove all your carpets before the husky does! Most owners have tiled or floorboards. The advantage with huskies is that if you do manage to tire them out, they will behave themselves for that day anyway.
Provided that you don't get worn out first. ;)
Sorry to stir up an old post,  but Fluke I'm curious... how did you manage to get to mush huskies?   Do you know the owners, or are you part of a group/club?    ...It doesn't seem like the kinda thing someone can just go out and jump into, but fun nonetheless!
Cool pictures. Hope to see some more. :)
Brandy might have a fearsome response to me.  But, she knew me though.  She was playful with me when I first came by her house.  Some huskies who don't go out much tend to be a bit lazy to remembering people if they are *lack lack*.  :)  Just kidding.  But, huskies are heavy, heavy shedders... I wouldn't mind one though.:)

Yeah I know the owners and I race for them, I am part of the team. It is the second team I have raced with so I have lots of experience with them

I have just gotten home from Scotland where we have been running the dogs, I'll share photos soon
Beautiful dogs! Fluke, you are a musher? Very cool. That has got to be an adventure!
Do you mush just in winter, Fluke?
You can only mush in the winter, it gets too hot for them in the summer and the race season is only in the winter so that's a yes

edit
Pictures from Scotland also on my LJ

Had to double post to get the others in..

Who is the husky on the last three pics?  I think its cute.  :)
That is Logan, he is one of the lead dogs. He is pretty cool, that first pic of him he was jumping up against me for a close up lol
Thanks Fluke, nice pics again.
Wow! Those huskies looks awesome! You mush them too? That's awesome! I might get a Golden Retriever and a huskey in the future. Who knows? :;):
Yeah I do, that is me in the picture with the 4 dogs (second one down)
Nice huskies Fluke. And do you really mush huskies for a local team? Where do you mush them anyway? Up North? And i know they aren't your dogs but, how long have you been doing this? Have you grown to love them? Anyways, they are so beautiful and cute. I have a husky myself, but i need help a liitle with her leash training. She always pulls, and alot of the time she gets off her leaah (don't ask me how, she just does). So could you give me some pointers on how to leash train. And i agree with you, huskies are escape artists, they can get out of everything (well not everything).

Wolfen~ sits and wags his tails.
:D
I've been working with huskies for years, about as long as I've been part of TBL.

This is why I always say huskies make bad pets though.. if they get off the lead it is bad news as I am sure you have found out as they are very hard to get back and this then makes them vulnerable to accidents such as getting hit by cars. I would recommend getting a much stronger collar and leash if she is breaking them.

With your training problem, the main thing is training and huskies don't really go together unless you want them to run. It is very very hard to make a husky walk on a leash without pulling because you are trying to train thousands of years of breeding out of a dog. That husky was born to pull, that is its purpose in life. What you can do is use a halti which goes round the dogs muzzle instead of its neck. It isn't uncomfortable for the dog but it means when they pull, their head is pulled back and they soon learn not to pull with it on.. but that is the problem, only when it is on cos they soon learn they can pull again with a normal lead.

I suggest instead of trying to train the pulling out of the dog, use the pulling and train it to do something it is meant to do. Get yourself a husky harness, they aren't expensive and then get an absailing harness for yourself. You can attach the dog to you and you can run with it, it is called trekking, it means the dog is happy doing something that it naturally wants to do and it will keep you and the dog fit as well.
i never knew huskey's where so beautiful:) I only heard once that they have beautiful eyes :)
Thanks for the info. Fluke. I had no idea that when i was trying to train my dog, i was trying to get rid of her habits, which like you said is like a thousand years of training. I have never heard of a halti or a husky harrness or even an absailing harness. Do you think they will have these things at Petco or a local pet store? Or are they available for sport use only and not for public use. And that trekking idea sounds pretty cool. I should try. That is if i can find the harness.
Well anyways, thanks Fluke and nice dogs. They look very fit.

Wolfen~ runs around.
A halti should be available from a pet shop, a husky harness is what a husky wears when they race, you can see them in the 3rd and 4th photos I put up. You would have to get them from a husky specialist I think and an absailing harness is what people wear when they go rock climbing etc, you can get them from any outdoors style shop
Thanks Fluke. I guess i will ask my parents for the harness.
If only i could a husky specialist.

Wolfen~ wags his tail
Harnesses keep them from choking themselves on the chain.  I want to get a harness for my dog when I get him :;):
Nice dogs,i personaly prefer the Cehaslovacian Sheepdog (used for guarding) buy hey, your dogs are for running not guarding no?
I can just imagine the feeling to mush a dog sled, but in Romania i think i would have more luck to get bitten by vipers.
Anyway good luck at the next inditarod and thank you for the cool pictures.
And you could've posted only the links for example use www.imagehost.com (free hosting no registration needed) and post your image copy&paste the link and add it to the forum.
Wolven,

A good place to start looking for sled dog gear is Sled Dog Central.  At that site I found a link to  NE Outfitters.  They are based in Brookfield, MA.  I don't know how far they are from you, but at least they are in the same state.  They do sell harnesses and other dog sledding gear.
Thanks Coaster. This is just what i needed I live In New Hampshire, and I believe Brookfield, MA is near Salem, NH (where I live). So thank you very much!!!!!!!!! :). Now I will be able to trekk now. Yet again, thank you very very much!!!!!!!  :D

Wolfen
aww you're Huskies are soo cute!:D I have a husky-lab cross and a wolf malamute cross.
