Yup thats right Ontario banned pit bulls from the province. I kind of saw this coming. The city I live in had a pit bull ban and I knew some other cities that also had a ban, so a province wide ban was not far behind. But I think banning a breed of dog is a bit too extreme, they should focus more on the penalties of owners who don't take good care of their dogs.

Anyway this law sounds nasty:
- You cannot buy or bring pit bulls into Ontario
- Current pit bull owners must use leashes and muzzles on pit bulls in public places
- Mandatory neutering and spaying of existing pit bulls
- Fines of up to $10,000 for owners of pit bulls that attack or harm someone.
- Jail sentences of up to six months for convictions of irresponsible dog ownership.

Also courts courts will be given the right to put "menacing" dogs down and the police will be allowed to enter premises where a dangerous dog has been reported.
You don't really have to ban a whole breed out, I like these rules, they do work better with out the banning, who wants to pay 10,000 bucks.
I don't like the idea of banning dogs. It's not right. I think if the owner does a good job of taking care of it, They shouldn't ban it. Glad they didn't ban any dogs here in Alberta:)
That's a pathetic law.  I don't think it'll work, since it's not the dogs that are the problem.  It's the owners of the dogs, who should be responsible.  It'll be pretty easy to get around the law, wouldn't it?
LOL what are they thinking next?
In my opinion its pure racism.
Singapore's worse, we aren't not allowed to keep a handful of dog species, but at least huskies are allowed. :)
Wow, this sucks. Pit Bulls get such a bad rap. I mean, yeah, they can be vicious, but only if trained that way. They really are sweet dogs. They're banned from a whole bunch of cities, quite a few in the United States. Luckily they're not banned around here. There's tons around here.
