In all the glory of Louisiana and Cajun tradition, IT'S CRAWFISH SEASON! ! !

 Lol- sorry. I just HAD to share that. I'm so happy. After a long, drizzly, humid winter there's nothing better to hear that your time was spent well, because now it's MUDBUG SEASON!

So happy crawdad season, eveyone! :p
Thanks but i don't know that season:( . I know only the rain season:D .Can you tell me what's the crawdad season?
What the heck is MUDBUG SEASON? ??? Is it legal? And where does this take place? Whatever it is, i hope you enjoy Nashoba! :D

Nashoba, if i offended you when i said this, i am very sorry. A thousand apologies for my behavior! :(

Wolfen~ thinks hard!!
It's fine Wolfen. :)

And actually, to tell you the truth, I'm a little late getting this info out because it actually starts a little before Mardi Gras.

It's when crawfish are legal to gather again. Or, as people up north and elsewhere say, 'cray-fish.' A mudbug and a crawdad is the same thing. I guess down here we're the only people that eat them. They're really good- like a miniature lobster that's really spicy. :p
Ah... Crayfish, I live in Missouri, they're good.
OHH!!!! So that's what it is. I've seen crawfish, here all the time, but i never teally ate them. To me i think they taste not that good (no offense). But i hope you enjoy your Mudbug season if you can. Oh yeah, i live up north in New England, and your right, we do say it cray fish, not craw fish. Anyways, i hope you enjoy your meal. And send me some of that crawfish too (just kidding). :D

Wolfen~ eats his own crawfish (no wait, ti's a lobster). :D :D
Lol- yeah, a lot of people don't eat crawfish other than here down South, but if it's done right, they taste really good (at least to me). I guess you've never had fried alligator tail, either? Now that's good, even if you don't like crawfish. It's like chicken with an extra punch. :D Or maybe Louisiana is just weird. Yeah, it's probably that. :p

New England is a beautiful place! I've always wanted to go there, maybe to the coasts, watch the trees change color. Most trees here are evergreens, except for beaches and Chinese Tallow trees. But since the tallow is not a native plant, it tends to cut off all of the native foliage. Sure is pretty though. What part of New England are you in?
No Nashoba, I haven't eaten fried alligator tail, and hopefully i never will. It sounds gross, but yet again, i have probably eaten stuff that is much worse. Also, i've also wanted to visit the south. Like the beaches and the warm weather. Have you ever been in the Mardi Gra? Is it fun?

And to answer your question, i live up north in New Hampshire. I live in Salem. it's a quiet place, but enough a good place to live. What part of Lousiana do you live in?

Wolfen~ is hungry, but not that hungry for alligator tail. :D
You can catch those crawdads in France in the small riverstreams. It's good food:D .Have you ever eat snales it's a french speciality:D .
No, Blackdog, never eaten a snail. I've heard they're good and since there's a lot of French influence around here we do have some places that serve them, but I've always imagained that it would be like chewing on a baloon. I'll try them someday, though.
: ;) :
And to answer Wolfen's question I live in the northeastern part of Louisiana- New Orleans is maybe two 1/2 hours away. Actually, I've only been to Mardi Gras once, and I'd like to go again except that there's too many drunks nowadays. And New Orleans is very dangerous around Mardi Gras- my cousin went and had to dive under a car to avoid being shot in a gunfught.

And yeah, it's warm down here, but unfortuneatly where there's warmth, there are mosquitoes. Especially on the coast. My dad went fishing down there one year and said you could almost hear them hitting you when you walked out the door. He had fun though, and caught a sting ray by mistake. :p
Frog legs are very good too, I usally go frog hunting with my cousin and Uncle.
Frog hunting is sooo fun! My friend and I used to ctach tadpoles, too, and watch them turn into frogs then let them go. It was really cool.
OMG!!! Mardi Gras sounds dangerous. I can't belive your cousin actually ended up in the middle of a gunfight. Is he/she all right? I hope he/she is! And i feel bad for you during the summer. Those mosquitoes must be a real pain. I know what iy feels like. it's about the same up here in new England, but only the mosquitoes only come during the summer, and at night. And do you really like frog legs? Now that sounds gross (sorry i said that). But it really does.

And also, i just had lobster the other night, it reminded me of what you said about the craw fish. So i had to eat it slowly. LoL-    Anyways, enjoy the rest of you Mudbug season.

Wolfen~ my stomach hurts.
...I call 'em crawdaddies...

Yeah, I've seen them here. They live in the brook by my house... my friends Jamie and Taylor found one before, and Jamie picked it up and chucked it at me. O_O Lol, then Taylor stepped on it and it smooshed yellow stuff...

Wolfen> But... as gross as fried squid tentacles?! Hehe, I have a Japanese friend who eats them when he goes to Japan.. :D

We don't really do much hunting here. o.O Well... actually, some people hunt moose and deer, but not often...
They say it taste like wheelrubber:D .I never have eaten squid tentacles or frog legs, but i'll try it someday:;):
NeonFlash- have you ever seen a moose? I wish I could- just not a male during the rut cuz I hear they get mean. I went up to Yellowstone one year and saw lots of bison, elk, and mule deer, but no moose. :( I did get to see 42F, alpha female of the Druid Wolf Pack, though. :D That was a real treat- got to hear her howl, too!

Fried squid sounds so gross. I was in a Chinese restuaraunt in Florida once and they had baby octopuses that were fried just as-is- legs, eyeballs, suckers and all. They were actually kinda  cute... but really gross. I didn't see anybody eating them.

Yeah, my friend's dog helped us catch crawfish in her backyard once. We let them go, of course, but it was fun to catch them. They'd make these little mounds, and we'd point to one and saw, 'Dig, Katy, dig!' and she'd did it up, then we'd put a piece of bacon on a fishook and then the crawfish would grap it we'd pull them up. We even caught an albino- well, it was blue, but in most crustaceans blue is considered albino I think.
Lol, sounds fun. :D

Yuppers, I've seen a moose. Female. New Hampshire. Wild. No captivity. :) Didn't try to approach her or anything, of course. *sniff* The only photograph I have of her is... in my mind... XP Lol, I didn't have a camera with me.

I've never seen a wolf in RL... but I have seen a coyote...
Neon Flash- I have seen a moose where i live too. It was in my backyard. They sure are big. And neon Flash, do you live anywhere in new England? Because you said you saw a moose near New Hampshire. Well i too live in New Hapmsire. Anyways, i hope you do! Aslo, i enjoy fried squid tentacles. there good.

Nashoba- did you really see a wolf in Yellowstone. I've always wanted to see wolves. Also you should really tried fried squid tentacles, they taste just like crawfish (i think). Anyways, i like to eat them.

Wolfen~ is tired.
Mardi Gras is a celebration in New Orleans, Wolfen.  It's just a fancy celebration (I don't know what for).  But, February 5th was Fat Tuesday, wasn't it?
Wolfen> Hehe, yup, I do live in New England. Northern Mass. :) Was in NH for a short "vacation"... (cousins bought a condo, bunch of us went up there for a week).

I never quite understood Mardi Gras, myself... except my sister did a project on it... and it included fancy bead necklaces and food...
Dayami- yeah, i know that Mardi Gras is in New Orleans, but i wasn't sure if it was really called fat Tuesday. Thanks for the information. It really helped out. I really want to see Mardi Gras, and have some fun.

Neon Flash- so you do live near NH. I've been to Mass. a couple of times. What part of Mass. do you live in? Is it big?

Wolfen~ i got alot of posting.
I live in an invisible little town nobody ever, ever hears about. :P Pretty small... though not small enough to be one of those everybody-knows-your-name kinda towns. lol.
To NeonFlash- Lol. So you do live in a small town. I can realte (sort of). :D Well anyways, i hope that the town you live soon recieves recognition. I hope we can meet someday.

Wolfen~ is hungry.
