Name: Hakura
Age: 2
Breed: half malamute, half wolf
Gender: female
Color: thunder gray with black muzzle, silver green eyes
personality: very cautious around everyone, mysterious past, master of stealth
Hakura walked down the side alley. She yawned and strectched herself. It had been a long day. She caught the smell of something in the garbage. She jumped into it, knocking it over, up turning 3 pieces of meat. She began to eat. Hearing the humans from inside though made her pick up her meat and run off. As she was running she ran into 4 dogs. She hid in the shadows, watching, waiting.
68-108173602517 Jul 2004, 17:23 UTC
Sly went towards Hakura and said '' Would you like to buy and blanket for 3 bones but for you free beautiful ''
83-108518858917 Jul 2004, 17:29 UTC
Hakura glanced at the dog in front of her. She showed her canine teeth, clearly stating that she was not to be messed with. "Don't try to sweet talk me dog", she said.
68-108173602517 Jul 2004, 17:32 UTC
'' Don't blame him hes just stupid '' Raschal said
'' hey '' Sly said
83-108518858917 Jul 2004, 17:35 UTC
Hakura nodded her head. "I understand pefectly well. Things were the same way, back in Nome", she said. "But that's part of the past now anyway", she added. "Oh, by the way, I'm Hakura", she said.
68-108173602517 Jul 2004, 17:48 UTC
'' I'm Raschal and hes Sly Lonestar but you can call him Sly for short '' Raschal said
83-108518858917 Jul 2004, 17:50 UTC
Hakura nodded her head. "Now tell me, what's been going on lately? I heard about two dogs, Izzy and Zing, who on about their turf?" she asked.
66-108914991017 Jul 2004, 21:08 UTC
Name: Black Lightning
Age: 3
Gender: Male
markings: black with white underbelly
Black Lightning came up behind Hakura. He licked his chops. The girl was so darn pretty. He walked up to the group. "How's it going Hakura", he said smoothly, trying not to pay the others any mind.
68-108173602517 Jul 2004, 21:43 UTC
'' Who are you loser '' Sly said
66-108914991017 Jul 2004, 22:24 UTC
"Name's Black Lightning, and I'd apprieciate it if you didn't call me a loser", Black Lightning said snarling at Sly. Then turning to Hakura he said, "Yo, let's bounce, and leave these punks. I know where we can find some bones." He moved closer towards Hakura, trying to push her forward, but the girl wouldn't budge.
83-108518858917 Jul 2004, 22:29 UTC
Hakura snarled and slashed out at him. "I am not your girl you loser", she said. "Sly, Rashcel, can we go", she asked them going over with them.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 00:56 UTC
Zero walked and saw Hakura and said "Hakura?! i thought you were dead!"
65-107836033818 Jul 2004, 16:45 UTC
Well,well,Black Lightning.We meet again."Zing said.He remembered that dog from a dog fight.
"Was he the-"Izzy began.
"Yes,he stole my food!"Zing snapped.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 16:49 UTC
Zero said "Hakura you are alive or not, does not matter as long Black Lighthing is gone" Zero stared at him.
65-107836033818 Jul 2004, 16:52 UTC
"Yes,I've been waiting for this."Zing luaghed evily.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 16:54 UTC
Zero said "lets go Hakura,... we better leave them alone"
83-108518858918 Jul 2004, 17:03 UTC
Hakura nodded her head and followed Zero.
OoC: Black_Blaze was oen of my freinds and he left on vacation today so I'm going to play him till he gets back.
BIC: "So you choose that jerk over me, Hakura", Black Lightning growled eyeing the surrounding dogs. Hakura nodded her head. Looking at Zing she said, "Go ahead Zing, rip him to shreads." Then walked off with Zero.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 17:25 UTC
Zero smiled when Hakura said this and said "well,.. should we go for walk?"
83-108518858918 Jul 2004, 17:27 UTC
"Yeah sure", Hakura said smiling.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 17:32 UTC
Zero walked with Hakura along in the city
83-108518858918 Jul 2004, 17:36 UTC
Hakura glanced down, dodging a pair of legs. That it mattered, her hybrid breed made it abvious to humans that they needed to stay away. She looked at Zero. "What made you think I was dead", she asked.
80-108034711818 Jul 2004, 21:27 UTC
Zero said "i remember you fall off the bridge and crashed in the rapids below it"
83-108518858918 Jul 2004, 21:30 UTC
OOc: dang that'd had to hurt
BIC: Hakura nodded. "I remember now. I finally managed to make it onto shore. But I musta been 10 miles down the river by then", she said, remembering. "I've been making my way back, since then, and finally here I am, back in the city", she added with a smile. 68-108173602518 Jul 2004, 21:48 UTC
As Sly and Raschal were walking Sly asked him '' Do you think the Loser guy named Black Lighting would pop out and attack us '' '' I don't know '' Raschal said
80-108034711819 Jul 2004, 02:14 UTC
Zero said "well, i do not really know if he could do that, but we will be on our toes"
83-108518858922 Jul 2004, 06:00 UTC
Hakura growled at the name. The dog had stalked her ever since she had arrived in the city. She had come from Nome, a rough town, but never had she been stalked like she was now. In fact, her hybrid breed made it almost the opposite. If it had been somebody like Zero or Rashel who was stalking her, then she wouldn't mind so much. But because it was him she had to snarl. The others looked at her. "I'll personally rip him to shreds if he shows his face again", she said. "But until that time arises, what do you guys want to do?" she added on a brighter note.

She trotted into town, sniffing lamposts.
"Hmmm alot of dogs around today, better keep sharp."
She turned the corner and jumped a fence to come around the back of her favourite butcher. He was a kind man and with one scratch and bark abone came flyin out the window and into frankie's mouth. She went through another fence and sat in an old oil tanker and munched her bone.

Name: Hope, Hopester
Age: 8 months
Gender: Female
Breed: German Shepherd/Jack Russell Terrier
Personality: Find out
Pic:
Hope bounced from a trash can, panting and running with her mouth wide open, tongue flailing behind her. A disturbed dog of some kind was hot on her heels. She barked a rather angered warning to it, and sped up a little, leaping debris, and darting throughout obstacles. The dog, or rather some pit bull, barked back, and dove for her hind paw. Missing it, he crashed into an open trash can, sending trash flying in all directions. Hope slowed, and laughed to herself. Once she had caught her breath, she walked into the daylight, looking out onto the harbor, then laying down in the grass, watching as boats floated past. 80-108034711828 Aug 2004, 21:09 UTC
BlackFire stooded up and howled in the beautiful horizons,.. and he watched the sunset and yawned. BlackFire strected and walked back in the cave.

OOC: Have you posted anything IC lately?
Seriously, though: please be patient. There was a post just yesterday, and there'll probably be more posts along shortly. No worries, you know? 83-108518858930 Aug 2004, 23:58 UTC
OOC: u dont' get it CW. read the beggining posts of this thread...1.)didn't take place in Alaska 2.) half wolves in Nyc?
67-106196056231 Aug 2004, 08:01 UTC
OOC: So this is stifling your creativity?
Why wouldn't there be half wolves in NYC? I should be careful with what I say, you'll probably claim there aren't any tigers there, too.
65-108501507211 Sep 2004, 17:22 UTC
ooc: I was wondering when this would 'live' again...XD
bic:
Hope got up, stretched quickly, and bounced along the sidewalk darting throughout all the people. She looked around for anymore food, not wanting to go back and meet that pit bull. She shuddered, then looked on down the road to where the road met the downtown city. It was all too busy down there, so she preferred to stay up in the quiet of the harbor.
83-106196074812 Sep 2004, 11:49 UTC
Frankie took her bone to her den in the harbour. Along the way she saw another dog trotting to the harbour. She let out a little bark, not in anger but just to let the other dog know she was here. Frankie rarely got inti terra fights because there arent many dogs around here.
65-108501507211 Jan 2005, 01:16 UTC
Hope turned, and saw the dog. Maybe this one wouldn't be so bad...better than that pit bull. She cautiously approached, her tail lowered. She stopped and barked back, letting the other dog know she wasn't a threat.
I'm Hope. I'm just passing through...and I hope not to bother you. I'll just be on my way... she said, and trotted back.
She shrugged, and jogged down the sidewalk, darting the few people walking before seeing a few restaurants. It would help, but she wasn't in the mood for anything drastic right now. Maybe later.
78-110711749703 Feb 2005, 02:23 UTC
Name: Shye (Pronounced 'Shy' )
Gender: Male
Breed: Black German Shepherd/Wolf cross
Eyes: one yellow, one milky-white (on iris only) due to accident
Scars: Three scars across face (one overlapping onto muzzle), one across neck, right torn/shredded ear
Markings: grayish patch around right eye
History: He was once a police dog but was abandoned one night while 'on the scene' for attacking an officer. Now he prowls the streets, but I can't tell you what he's doing... yet. He still wears his blue collar with the silver star inscribed 'Shye.'
-----------------------------------------------------
Shye crept into veiw, but only long enough for the pup to catch a glimpse. So... this was Hope, the so-called 'Hopester.'
*Well, we'll see about that.* Shye thought to himself. A crooked smile wrought its way around his roughly-hewn face.
He approached the pup. 'Hello,... Hope.' He called out. He put on his best smile, trying to look friendly without showing any of his massive, white fangs. 'A stray, I see. Oh, yes- I know all about you.'
*Yes, turn around, Hope.* He thought. *Look at me, I need you to talk to me. Come on, pup, nothing to be scared of...*
Shye was perfectly aware of his threatning, intimidating presence- while working as a 'bow-wow' he had been called the 'very image of fear.' He prided himself on that.
'Come on now, Hope. Wanna play?'
65-108501507203 Feb 2005, 04:58 UTC
Hope spun around, her ears twitching as she picked up sounds. She then gazed to the huge dog, somewhat known as Shye. She backed up a little, just staring at his large frame. She dropped her gaze, and tried to relax. He seemed to be a threat.
Yes, I'm Hope. she stopped and gazed at him again, a puzzled expression upon her face. How'd you know my name? she asked, taking a few steps further, closer to him. She barked at him, lowering herself to lie down.
78-110711749703 Feb 2005, 17:08 UTC
'How'd I know?' He gave a little chuckle, revealing two very sharp canines. 'I know everything that goes on around here. I know about Frankie, Izzy, Hakura, Zero... and you.'
He could see that the pup was frightened, and rightly so. She was, however, not running, which was better than most did, even with the use of his slick, silver tongue. He had her right where he needed her at the moment.
'I can see that you're hungry- most strays are. How would like to get a little something to eat? Maybe we can get to know each other a little better. After all, there is something I would like to ask you, but not yet. So, what do you say?'
Hope was still not warming up to him. He decided to change the subject.
'Now, Hope, it's not that I've taken an interest in you alone. I'm, er, -*friends*- with some of the others.'
Shye flashed a smile. He knew good and well he had not so much as spoken to the others, but what could it hurt to tell a little lie like that? After all, if Shye got his way, it wasn't as if she'd be asking them any time soon.
65-108501507205 Feb 2005, 06:18 UTC
Really... she said blankly, and quickly looked back behind her shoulder, and turned back to Shye. I am kind of hungry... she said, and sat, now a little interested in what this hybrid wanted from her.
She didn't really know any of those other dogs, but she had seen them around, but not lately. Perhaps this new hybrid was a friend of theirs...but she hadn't seen him at all. He was large, and therefore looked like he could inflict serious harm; but, she couldn't judge him right now, really. She sighed, and looked to him again, deciding she would like to go for some food.
What do you want from me? she asked, and waited a few minutes. After she though briefly, she responded again, Food does sound pretty good now...
78-110711749706 Feb 2005, 02:50 UTC
Shye's lips curled from a smile into a sneer, but he quickly brought them back to his friendly, curtieous grin.
''Alright then! It's settled. We'll get something to eat and then we'll discuss exactly what I want of you. But first, to the river.''
'Discuss,' of course, would be an odd term to use. Shye was willing to do anything to get what he wanted- it was likely it would be more of an interrogation than a discussion.
Shye was careful to make sure Hope stayed in sight as he led her through the dark alleyways and the damp corridors of NYC. They made their way slowly but surely to the Hudson River- Shye didn't speak much until they got there, and then he was breathless.
Nighttime on the Hudson- the glittering lights shimmering on the black surface of the water, the reflection of the skyline, and slow, placid sounds of the water licking at the shores- it was the one thing that could move his hardened heart; that and what he wanted from Hope. It would leave anyone speechless.
Shye quickly checked to make sure Hope was still following. He knew she must be aching by now, but they were almost there. Eyes following the river bank, he soon caught sight of what he was looking for- the tressel. The old train tracks went over a narrow part of the river by the slums and were rarely used nowadays, just 2 0'clock on Saturdays and Tuesdays, and occasionally a midnight trip at midnight on Fridays. On either side of the bank, a small cove had been dug in to fit in the supports. One of these was Shye's home. He had enlraged it to a good-sized den and pulled in a ragged old blanket and a half-chewed sofa cushion. It wasn't much, but it was dry at least, and warmer than the conrete sidewalk he found so many strays on.
Shye walked in, turned around and gave Hope a good look in the eye. 'I don't want you going anywhere, OK? I'll be right back with the food.'
Soon there came the metalic *CLANG* of a trash can being knocked over, and the scuttling of various scattered produce bags. A few seconds later Shye came back with a half-slab of ribs, still covered in meat.
Shye grinned. ''Got some good stuff tonight. Wonder why they ever through it out...'' It would seem a bit obvious to most dogs- after all, there were some things even canines wouldn't touch, but Shye was accustomed to worse than that.
Suddenly a loud, wheezing moan sounded deep into the night, and the sharp sound of bells clinking very fast. The earth trembled, and the supports groaned beneath the weight. They saw a reflection of a light zooming into the water. A large, black train hurled itself over the den as if it were shot from a cannon. Shye yawned. ''Oh- that, it's just the midnight Friday train. I get that a lot.''
He stared down at his paws for a moment.
''Got some buddies up at the tracks,'' he said, ''well, if you can call them that. They're all tail-biters...'' his scarred forhead wrinkled as if he were speaking from personal experience. ''Anyway, they've traced train all the way to... well, I forget where, but nobody knows where it ends up.....'' he trailed off, ''However, there's still the matter of, well, I'll get to that later, when we're done eating.''
He limped over to the den entrance to stare at the receeding train. And for the first time, Hope noticed the chain dragging from his gimped back left leg- a linked chain, like a choke-collar, caught around his ankled and embedded deeply into the skin.
There was more to Shye than one would think, and it all began with a dark night, a black train, and a certain something Hope- and Hope only- could tell him.
65-108501507206 Feb 2005, 23:26 UTC
ooc: Eh, there was a bit of powerplaying in your last post, but that's alright. Just please don't do it again.
bic:
Hope followed the strange canine, through dark and dank alleyways and streets. He was rather mysterious, though in sort of a creepy way. He could be dangerous, but, what did she have to lose? As they continued walking, her feet had grown just a bit sore from the sharp rocks that lay scattered around, but otherwise she was fine. She was a bit thirsty, though. She sighed lightly, as they discussed nothing. Part of her told her just to run away, far away from this strange creature. But the other half, or the most curious part of her, wanted to know what the canine wanted. So she stayed. As they reached Shye's place, Hope glanced around. It was a bit uncomfortable looking, with the darkness, and the tracks and trains. It wasn't somewhere she would have picked, but she wasn't going to be rude now. She laid down as he told her not to go anywhere - that was quite odd. She was getting a little edgy now. The place was creepy, not to mention the canine who took her there. But maybe she should just run. But she still really wanted to know the "secret". She waited patiently, and smiled as Shye returned with the food. It looked delicious. It really did.
Wow...those look delicious. And thank you very much, by the way. she said, licking the delicious meat, and chewing on the old bones.
She stared as he limped off. Noticing the chain, she kept quiet, but she wanted to say something. It looked awfully infected, not to mention painful. She stayed silent, and continued to eat.
78-110711749707 Feb 2005, 02:54 UTC
OoC: Sorry. I really didn't mean to. If you're talking about the chain, it was just kind of important that it was noticed, but I should have left that up to you.
Oh and yeah, about the leading... I really shouldn't have assumed you'd follow, either. Well, it won't happen again. My brain's been fried lately (mainly an 8-hour CPR course for my local MSC/MCC team and a MAJOR French test to study for), and I know that's really not to blame, but it sure didn't help! Anyway,
BIC: Shye decided that it would be a good time to start explaining. ''Hope- I guess I need to explain. I know you've lived here in NYC, and I've gathered that you're a smart pup. Do you know where the train goes?''
This was not all Shye wanted to ask. Inside his stone-cold heart was screaming to ask about... he couldn't even think it. But if he was right, Hope may or may not have had a connection to... ''them.'' He had traced the chronilogical, genetic path best as he could, but he wasn't sure. He knew somehow, though, that if Hope knew where the trains went- even part of the way- it was possible. And even if it wasn't true, perhaps the pup could at least help him.
Anything was possible. Well, almost. And this one possibility was what Shye was playing on... what he was dying to ask about. But something told him to go easy on this pup. After all, she didn't really seem so bad. And then, deep in his heart, a small something stirred- a warm emotion... and for a moment he could see it all over again....
A young, black Shye was walking along a path in NYC. His face was free of scars, his right eye was bright gold rather than milky-white. He walked with a smooth, ambling gait, his now-gimped leg strong and rythmic in motion with the rest of his body. His ears, neither torn nor tattered, flicked back and forth to try to catch the sound of her approaching.
Then he saw her- a beautiful German Shepherd dog led by a police officer.
With a flash he remembered the railroad tracks. He remembered a gnarled paw striking him down, seeing the blood wash over his eye, having the chain caught around his leg, breaking the links in order to be set free, but only once it was too late. He remembered the gunshots fired at the drunken track bums who had somehow acquired a rifle, and the feel of one shot ripping through his ear as he lunged. He remembered the track dogs he had thought were his friends defending their masters. He remembered her jumping onto the train to attack one, but then she was lost- the train had started. He recalled attacking an officer in order to follow, and recalled never coming back.
In an instant Shye's mind went back to the present. The warm feeling was gone now. All that was left was coldness. And hope,... and a stray pup of the same name. 65-108501507208 Feb 2005, 02:24 UTC
ooc: Aw, that's alright. Sounds like a lot of work! All I have tonight is a math assignment and a science fair project to finish that's due tomorrow...XD And btw, this is really getting interesting! ^_^

"The train? I'm sure it goes all around New York City, and it might even connect to stations in other states. Or maybe it even travels to Canada. I'm not sure, I've never been on it." she responded, hoping she had answered his question.
She started to feel just a bit more at ease, with the canine now just generally asking her questions. She ate almost the rest of the meat off of the bones, and started gnawing on them. She finally felt quite full, or as full as she had in a long time. She was kind of a big dog.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't save anything for you." she looked down. "How selfish of me." she pushed the remaining bones over to the large canine. She started to shiver a little, as it was almost in the middle of the freezing winter in New York City. After all, she was only a bit medium-haired. She pushed the remaining ribs to the canine, and moved just a little closer to him, almost brushing up to his side. He was warm, that was for sure. Suddenly, she felt more at ease with the canine. At least he seemed friendly, or more so than the other strays on the streets. She turned to him again, letting her eyes rest on him.

OoC: math assignments are torture! But at least I got my 100-question French test over with today.
Not sure how I did, but it's over now, anyway... And yeah, this is getting to be a really fun rpg! Kind of funny since it was 'dead' for so long.
BIC:
Shye's heart lept for joy. She knew a thing or two about the train! Maybe then, just maybe, she could help him. He smiled at her.
Shye glanced at the old bones Hope had nudged over to him. ''Thanks, Hope, but I'll be alright.'' He didn't need to eat. He just needed to ask Hope another question or two.
''So, Hope, er, do you think you could help me trace the traintracks? There's someone I need to find, and they should be there, at the end of it.'' He was afraid to ask the next question, and nearly winced at the thought of doing so. ''Do you have a half-sister?''
As he waited for Hope's reply, he edged a little closer to her.
Shye looked down at Hope. She was different than most strays he had met. She was so full of life, so accepting. Most who met him shunned him. After all, he knew he was rough-looking, and after these years as a stray he was cynical and his heart was bitter. Only a few still lived who remembered him as Officer Shye, canine hero of the NYPD, and even they turned against him, after that night when he had ran. They always said, ''He would've still been with us, if it hadn't been for the train.'' And those who didn't shun him hardly noticed him- they saw right through him. That was what was different about Hope- her eyes weren't closed to him. Only a few could see into his world.
He smiled at her again, and wondered if she knew. 65-108501507209 Feb 2005, 02:04 UTC
ooc: I got my science project done....and I have another math assignment. XD
bic:
"Oh, alright then." she responded, taking the bones gently, bringing them to her, and began gnawing on them again. As a few minutes went by, she grew a little more tired. She smiled lightly, and listened intently as he spoke.
"I could, I guess. There are probably some maps around here somewhere, but I wouldn't know how to read them. But I'd love to help." she said, and smiled again. She gnawed on the bones again briefly as a few more minutes passed by. "A half-sister?" she asked curiously. "Well, I...don't know..." she said. She knew. Awhile back, before her mother and siblings were killed, her mother often told the pups about someone else. Of course their was the unknown father, (at least unknown to the pups) but she spoke of someone else. She was never sure who, but maybe that was who she was always talking about. But what did Shye want to know for? Minutes flew passed. Finally, she spoke.
"Well, when I was younger my mother always told me about someone. I was never sure who exactly she was talking about, but she said the dog was related to us somehow. Through our father, maybe, or maybe even my mom." she sighed, remebering that horrible day. But now wasn't the time to think or talk about that. "So, I guess I could then." she said, and put her head down to rest as Shye scooted closer. But, she stayed quiet for a little longer. She had been acting more cautious then usual, and it was mostly because she was in heat. Of course she didn't mention that, but she hoped Shye wouldn't notice much either.
Now their bone-ish sides were against eachother, but Hope didn't care. She had found comfort in a stranger. Or better yet, I stranger she liked.
78-110711749710 Feb 2005, 02:06 UTC
Shye knew right then and there that Hope was the half-sister of Jezebel. He decided to tell her, to help fill in the gap, "Your sister's name was Jezebel. Jezebel had been a police dog- a very respected part of the canine division of the NYPD. It was Jezebel that had been lost on the train and from my life, short as it had been. I had loved Jezebel, and I still do. Something had told me, some inner voice, that she would be there waiting for me at the end of those tracks. But I know that I can't get there on my own-" his voice trailed off. He would need the one who could see him as he was, the one who was so much like Jezebel that they could have been mistaken for each other, despite the fact that Hope was a mixed-breed and Jezebel was not. Shye continued, "That train- you see, one night I was called out on an assignment- there was a gunfight at the traintracks started by drunks. The people there, they had dogs that I knew, but they turned on me when I was ordered to attack a man that was after my officer. That's how I got the scars.... Anyway, Jezebel- well, there was one in the train and she leapt for him, but the conductors were in a hurry to get their cargo out and started the train.... You're so much like her, Hope. And you're the only one who will help- you're the only one who can. After we stay here a couple of days, I need to take you there, Hope. Will you come?''
There were still secrets to be uncovered by both Shye and Hope, but there was one thing that Shye had to keep hidden until the end of the journey. He had listened as Hope explained the things her mother had talked about, and he realized that it could come as quite a shock, but with the way things were going, maybe- just maybe- she wouldn't mind.
He knew Hope still had her own secrets to uncover, about the unknown father and about Jezebel, and he began to wonder as well-what did Hope have in the past of her life?
*We all have our own tales to tell or to not speak of, our own secrets to discover or to take with us to the grave,* he speculated in his mind, *and then there are those that we take with us even past that.* Deep in the night he heard a train whistling in the distance. The chain seemed to tighten around his ankle. *Yes, some are taken even past that.*

ooc: Heh, I got bored in class and I drew this for you... http://mercury.walagata.com/w/hopester/shye.JPG Sorry about the lined paper, but I hope you like 'im! ^^'
bic:
Hope listened intently. It all made sense now. But did he really suspect or know that they were half-sisters from the first glance at her in the alleyway? She guessed so. And ir fit. Her mother had alwasy told her about such things, but she had either not understood them, or just rolled her eyes. She didn't care back then.
"How terrible...I'm sorry." she said, listening to the misfortune. She too had had a scarring past. "I'll help you as much as I can, Shye." she smiled, "I'll do whatever I can."
Hope lowered her head onto her paws, sighing and letting her eyelids fall. It was quite late, and she was tired after a day's traveling. But soon, they'd set out on their quest for Jezebel. 78-110711749711 Feb 2005, 16:25 UTC
OoC: Wow! That picture is AWESOME! I was planning to do one of Hope, so I'll put that one up for you.
BIC: The next day Shye was circling around the front of the den, waiting for Hope to awake. His paws were caked in mud from the shores of the Hudson, and he realized that for the first time in years he would be allowed to leave that spot. Much as he loved it, he was glad that he would soon be leaving the filthy, though beautiful, waters. He looked into the river, studying his reflection, or lack of, rather. *Well,* he thought, *today we start off.* He sighed. Shye had mixed feelings about this. *I just hope we can find her, and that Hope is alright.* He desperately hoped that he wasn't putting her through too much, or asking too much of her. But he was driven on by the desire to find their Jezebel, as he had been for so long.
Shye paced a little more.
EDIT: OoC: I drew Hope! I have the picture right here:
www.geocities.com/fivestripeskink/aregallery
(Yes, I misspelled 'art gallery' but oh well- that's the link. Just copy and paste into your search box.) Lol- the scanner cut off parts of the drawing, but most of Hope is still there! 65-108501507212 Feb 2005, 02:42 UTC
ooc: Glad you like him! And thanks for the picture of Hope! It's great! ^__^ *huggles Hope's picture* Cute style, btw. =D
bic:
Hope awoke with a great yawn, opening her mouth wide and exposing her bright pink tongue. She looked about, getting to her feet and shaking herself. Bits of dirt clung to her used-to-be-white coat, but it didn't seem to bother her. She stretched, curling her tail and walking out into the early sunshine. She had slept rather good. It was almost warm, but a cold breeze was blowing through. She spotted Shye,, gave a light bark and trotted over to him.
"Well, I'm ready to go when you are." she said, smiling. She was quite eager too.
65-108501507212 Feb 2005, 07:34 UTC
ooc: And since it's been awhile, I'll bump Hope's age up to around 1 1/2 or 2 years. =)
78-110711749712 Feb 2005, 16:01 UTC
OoC: Glad u liked Hope! I did have a copywright for you and other stuff on there, but looks like my scanner was hungry.
BIC: Shye smiled, but inside his emotions were still churning. He knew the risks they were taking.
'All right, Hope. Now just follow me. We're going to the old tracks, and we're going to have to ride one of the trains there....' *the same train I lost her on* he thought *the same train that I...*. Shye snapped away from those dark thoughts and wbegan to walk along the shoreline towards the tracks.
'It's a three-day journey, Hope. Are you up to it?'
65-108501507213 Feb 2005, 00:19 UTC
ooc: That's alright, she doesn't really have to be copyrighted anyway...she's my dog. XD
bic:
"OK..." she agreed, but she to felt a little nervous. She had lived in New York City all of her short life, but getting out to a new place on some sort of 'adventure' would be good for her. She turned back to Shye, smiling. "I sure am."
She looked out to the bay and the harbor, sighing and swishing her tail as she trod along behind Shye.

Frankie woke with an empty stomach and getting bored of fish she decided to go up to the train station, the people getting on and off trains were an easy target for food. Her long thick fur kept her warm and she was used to the winter weather. She trotted out of the habour, through town, sniffing her old scent marks. She knew she would be crossing other terra's but she was clever..and quick! She ran down an alley, across the bridge and towards the station.
"Huh?"
She stopped dead in her tracks, she smelt some more dogs.
"Great, there was I thinking this would be an easy run, but no you guys showed up."
She sniffed them, one she recognised from earlier, a female. The other she had never smelt. She trotted onwards in hope of either surprising the dogs or slipping past withput them noticing.
78-110711749713 Feb 2005, 21:11 UTC
Shye ambled along the shoreline of the Hudson for about half a mile before turning onto a nearby street. There he wound his way around the labyrinth of alleys and streets he knew so well, keeping his pace fast but still making sure it wasn't too hard on Hope.
As they walked along they noticed a large pile of smouldering rubble where two large skyscrapers had once stood. There were groups of people there with dogs searching for victims, others going through the ash and charred metal bucket by bucket. With a pang Shye realized that he could have been helping if he hadn't run off for Jezebel. He sulked into the shadows to avoid the confusion of the rescuers and reporters, all who kept mumbling something about '9/11' and 'Ground Zero.'
On the third day they finally turned into the train station. Shye looked around, searching for a large black locomotive trimmed in silver. Off to a corner of the railroad he saw it. Its tarnished silver letters spelled out 'CaneCutter Inc.' Shye couldn't read it, but his nose immedeately recognized the smell of dried sugar cane and boxes of granulated sugar. There were lots of cars hitched to it, all for cargo.
He also caught the scent of another dog, the one he knew as Frankie. Shye's ears went back. *I don't need another rendevous right now* he thought. *Maybe she won't notice us.* Shye didn't have to worry about being noticed much. He was silent, stealthy, and even if they saw him they would most likely turn away.
He walked along the tracks that the CaneCutter Inc. Express rested on, searching for an open car.
'Hope,' he called, 'look for a car with an open door and call me when you find one.'
As his eyes scanned the black and silver train his heart was filled with a haunting, eerie emotion. This was the same train he had lost Jezebel on, that everything had happened by. At the sound of a nearby train whistle his hair bristled and his eyes flashed electric blue and marigold against his scarred, black face. But soon the memories wouldn't matter- just Shye, Hope, and the CaneCutter Inc. Express.
OoC: Er... that above line wasn't meant to exclude Frankie or anything- it's just that as of now she doesn't play an important role in Shye's eyes. And that's not saying she's not important, just not important to Shye at the moment.
Anyway, I'm glad you started playing again! This thread went dead for a long time- glad to have you back!
83-106196074814 Feb 2005, 13:28 UTC
Ooc:Thats ok, I was following the story and shye seems a busy pup! It will be more interesting with more dogs, I will just tag along with the story, I wont get in the way.
bic:Frankie saw the other dogs, she kept her distance and walked around the old steamer.
"Mmmm they look like they are searching for something...should I help!?" Frankie thought to herself, would they be fine with another dog or hostile. One way to find out I guess.
She trotted up behind them slowly and gave a friendly hello bark.
"Can I help you?
I mean...you guys ok, searching for something in particular, maybe I could help, if thats ok?
She waited for a reply, she tilted her head.
78-110711749714 Feb 2005, 16:20 UTC
Shye wouldn't have minded the help at all, that is, if Hope didn't. He felt a little uncertain about all this, but if it could get them to Jezebel more quickly, he'd let Frankie tag along.
65-108501507215 Feb 2005, 05:29 UTC
Hope made sure she stuck behind Shye, as she didn't want to lose him as they set off to find Jezebel. Could she still even be in the same city? State? Of course New York City was big, but especially since Jezebel was a police dog, much oculd have happened in the past years. She could have retired. But she wasn't one to lose hope now, just as they had started. As the hours of traveling ticked past, she gave a sigh, stil holding her tail high and wagging it. Finally, they reached the train station where Jezebel and Shye were separated. If they did find Jezebel, she's miss Shye. She wasn't one to be a police dog, anyway. She didn't really want to, either.
"This is it..." she said quietly, examining each of the train cars. "I'll keep looking." she said to Shye.
Her nose was lifted, and she trotted around the cars to find search of any. Many were shut tight, but a few were cracked open.
"Shye! I think I found one," she said, looking into the car. It smelled of coffee, and the door was nudged open enough for Shye and Hope to slip inside.
Suddenly, as the scent of a strange dog floated past, she veered around. She saw Frankie. She lifted her head, examining the dog. Her tail wagged slowly. She glanced to Shye, awaiting his response. She was hoping it'd be a two-dog show, but with a third addition, it would mean even more help.
83-106196074815 Feb 2005, 16:17 UTC
Frankie lifted her nose in the air.
"Hi, I dont mean to intrude but I thought I could help...I have been around..well lets just say a while. Im well travelled so anything I can do, Im at your service."
She looked at their faces.
"And, no Im not expecting anything back I just saw you two snooping around and well its been a while since I've had an adveture, I used to be a rescue dog you see and...well you dont really wanna know my life story so...er well whats the story?"
She wagged her tail in a friendly manner.
78-110711749715 Feb 2005, 18:20 UTC
Shye made a low grunt deep in the back of his throat as his ears flicked back and forward again. *A rescue dog* he thought, *well, that would explain it then...* His good eye searched Frankie up and down.
'If you want to help,' he said, 'then help us find an open boxcar. Well, wait, the one Hope found should do... no...' he replied on second thought. A group of men began to climb up in it, tossing in cases of coffee and other boxed goods. 'No... let's try one that's already been loaded.'
Shye didn't like the smell of coffee as it was, anyway. It was too rich and sharp, and it left a bitter, heavy taste in the back of his throat. However, he was willing to sacrifice to find a car that would take them to Jezebel before the train left. That wasn't going to happen for another hour or so (he kept track of the train times and knew them by heart, almost instinctively) but he wanted to make sure they had a car by that time.
'Just search up and down the train, and Frankie, check the other side for us, if you would. And try to get a car without coffee in it.' Shye sighed heavily, trying to rid his mouth and nose of the coffee-scent.
After a moment or two he turned back to Frankie. 'Oh and, about our story, well, it's a little long, but to give it to you short we're trying to find someone... they should be there at the end of the train ride.'
He turned to investigate a cart that smelled lightly of the train's main cargo- sugar, and maybe a box or two of flour and a bag of coffee.
83-106196074815 Feb 2005, 20:39 UTC
"will do. Find someone aye? Well you have the best dog for that!"
And with that frankie was sniffing all over the place for any sign of the right cart. She caught a whiff of something and barked.
"I think this may be the one."
She squeezed in through the doors.
"No coffee in here."
She sniffed in circles on the floor.
78-110711749715 Feb 2005, 20:54 UTC
Shye smiled. He was beginning to warm up to Frankie, too. *Hmph.* He thought. *If I get any softer I'll melt on the floor.*
'That'll work, Frankie,' he told her, happy to see that there was a cart that did not reek of coffee.
65-108501507216 Feb 2005, 04:48 UTC
Hope backed off, trotting away as some men came to the train and began loading some cargo. She shrugged and returned to Shye and Frankie.
"Sorry about that one," she said, and resumed looking for another open car.
She sniffed at a few others, but seeing as many were locked or crammed with cargo, it wouldn't be likely that she'd find one. She then turned, looking to Frankie.
"Good job!" she said, smiling as she wandered over to them.
She tested the scents, and nodded as if agreeing that there wasn't any coffee. She jumped up, and climbed inside, waiting for the train to depart.
78-110711749717 Feb 2005, 00:49 UTC
'The train doesn't leave for quite a while,' Shye told her. 'Let's see if we can get some food first.'
He knew there would be something to eat at the station. All of the trains here were for cargo, so the workers were there a lot of the time and often brought their own lunches. There wouldn't be anything to eat on the CaneCutters Inc. Express- just sugar, flour, and -horror of horrors- ground coffee beans.
Shye sauntered off, stumbling occasionally on his hurt leg, the three-inch chain trailing behind him, clattering and clinking against the stony ground- an almost silent but bold and painful reminder.
83-106196074817 Feb 2005, 19:46 UTC
Frankei could smell the saultry scent of hot dogs.
"Mmmmmmmmmm"
"Hey if someone distracts the guy from the stall one of us could pinch some hot dogs, what d'ya reckon?
She wagged her tail in excitement as drool ran from her mouth.
65-108501507217 Feb 2005, 23:51 UTC
"Oh, okay," Hope said, shook herself, and jumped out of the train car.
She came back down with them, lifting her nose to try and scent something out. She followed quickly behind Shye, and glanced around them.
"Hot dogs? Those do sound pretty good right now..." she said, letting her eyes scan the area. "I hate run-ins with humans, though." she said. "We could just try the garbage cans." she suggested, though it didn't sound very appetizing.
78-110711749718 Feb 2005, 16:28 UTC
Shye stopped for a moment and scanned the trainyard. 'The trash might be our best bet,' Shye concluded after realizing how many people there were. 'Tell ya what- you two go see what you can get. I have some work of my own to do.'
He limped off towards the main station, weaving in and out of the throngs and crowds. Nobody even seemed to notice him. Ambling into the open door of the station's building, the workers and conductors payed as much as attention to him as if he were just another railroad hand.
Shye took a quick glance behind his shoulder, gave Hope and Frankie a smile and a wink, and metled into crowd.
83-106196074818 Feb 2005, 18:12 UTC
"Ok, there is always plenty of garbage around! And best of all with this amount of people ite er..good garbage!"
She watched Shye disappear into the crowd. She walked to the back of the station where the large bins were. Hopping from one box to get to the top she sniffed inside.
"ewwwwwww, mmmm hang on....this smells better!"
She pulled out what appeared to be a huge metallic silver blob and dropped it on the floor. She carefully peeled it down.
"MMMMmmm chicken!"
78-110711749718 Feb 2005, 18:52 UTC
While Hope and Frankie were inspecting the trash, Shye had done his job quickly and came back with a large piece of fried chicken.
'Help yourselves,' he said, 'I'm going to have another look at that boxcar.'
Once he reached it, he stopped and approached the open door slowly, keeping one ear cocked behind him to pick up any sounds from the rest of the trainyard. He quickly scanned the inside of the car- it seemed safe enough. His attention turned towards a small, glinting object in the corner of the car. He checked behind him to make sure no one was coming and hopped inside. Next to a bag of sugar caught on a broken board was a red collar with a silver star on the front. It read 'Jezebel.' Of course, Shye couldn't have read that, but he knew form the smell who it belonged to. It still had a few black and tan hairs caught on it. He sighed, half in relief, half in remembered sadness.
*We're getting closer than I ever dreamed we would.*
He took the collar gently in his teeth and worked it around his own neck. *I'll keep it safe for you, Jezebel.* he thought. *I'll be there soon.*
65-108501507219 Feb 2005, 05:21 UTC
Hope nodded.
"Best of luck, Shye." she said to him, and turned to inspect the trash with Frankie.
She knocked over a large metallic can, letting the trash flow out. She sniffed around, trying to find anything edible. It was mostly just paper, cans, plastic, and some rotten-beyond-belief food. She dug through it, but she didn't find much. She found only a tiny bone which she ate quickly, seeing as there was no point in sharing the tiny object. She felt a little selfish for that, though.
"Nothing in here." she said, letting her tail wag only a little. "Didja find anything?" she asked. "Chicken? Man, you find good stuff." she laughed.
She turned as Shye strode back with food.
She smiled and laughed a little more. "I don't know how you do it, Shye. But thanks." she said, taking a small piece and swallowing it. She laid down and pushed some of it towards Frankie.
83-106196074819 Feb 2005, 11:28 UTC
With a huge piece of chicken in her mouth frankie spotted Shye.
"You leaving? Well good luck but I wouldnt like to think of you doing this alone, what if you need help?"
Frankie gave Shye a worried look, her taol stopped wagging and she gave a sorry bark at him.
65-108501507220 Feb 2005, 07:24 UTC
Hope glanced back to Shye, and then Frankie, and shrugged.
"Naw, I'm sure he'll be fine." she said, eating a bit more of the delicious chicken.
She wagge her tail slowly, watching the boxcar Shye had entered. She was growing even more excited now, as they were soon to depart on a 'mission'.
ooc: Blah post... =x
78-110711749720 Feb 2005, 14:38 UTC
OoC: I know what you mean! Just look at the one I posted second from the top of this page!
BIC: Shye went back to Frankie and Hope to tell them that they needed to get on the train, when suddenly steam and hot air started billowing out of the silver trainwhistle on the CaneCutters Inc. Express.
'Frankie! Hope! We'd better get on!' Shye called. 'C'mon!'
He ran back to the boxcar and hopped in, and couldn't help but smile. *Well,* he thought, *here we go.*
OoC: That was kind of 'blah', too. Trend, perhaps?
Oh, and Suma- luv the new avatar! 83-106196074820 Feb 2005, 15:49 UTC
Ooc:Nashoba, I had that avatar for a while, then I changed to the real tiger and then decided to go back to this one! Me likes too!
bic:Frankie ran to the train and jumped in as quick as she could for fear of being left behind.
"So how long we on for?"
She spread out her front legs and rested her head on them.
She yawned and drifted off to sleep.
Ooc: blah!!!blah blah!!
78-110711749720 Feb 2005, 17:34 UTC
OoC: Everything is blah today. The weather, my posts... blah! Must... break.....trend.....
65-108501507221 Feb 2005, 05:48 UTC
ooc: Yeah, it's been raining all day here...though I do like it. And I'm feeling a bit relaxed, because there's no school tomorrow! Woo!
bic:
Hope finished her share of the chicken, and looked back to the cars. They were departing! She watched as Frankie hopped in, and she ran as fast as she could to board. She stumbled over a large rock and some wire on the way, sending her muzzle into the dirt. Panic spread through her, but she quickly got up and resumed running. Luckily, the train wasn't going very fast. She was able to jump in, just as the train sped up. She tumbled inside, panting heavily.
"Whoa, I didn't think I was going to make it for a few minutes!" she said, laughing.
83-106196074821 Feb 2005, 20:42 UTC
Frankie smiled when Hope jumped in, although she did have a wave of panic over her when she fell.
"No, neither did I!" she barked playfully, yawned and stretched her feet out.
She then rolled around on the floor and back, sneezed and began to drift off to sleep.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Ooc:I'm so tired, I got a pet lizard and the crickets are keeping me awake at night, aaarrrrggghhh!
65-108501507221 Feb 2005, 22:03 UTC
ooc: Heehee, I wanna lizard. And a snake. X3 Hope you get some sleep!
bic:
Hope smiled and wagged her tail at Frankie. She glanced around the car, to some boxes and other things. She let her head rest on her paws as she relaxed, waiting for them to reach where ever they were traveling to. The cars bumped along, but it didn't seem to bother her very much.
ooc: Blah post! >.<;;
83-106196074822 Feb 2005, 20:59 UTC
Ooc: I had a nice sleep because there were not any crickets in his cage, I make sure he eats them in day!
bic: After a nice snooze, the gentle bobbing up and down was soothing, frankie woke up.
"We there yet?"
She jumped on a few boxes and looked out the window, the breeze made her fur go mad.
She jumped back down, her fur on her face was poofy.
"That was refreshing?!"

OoC: Lol- I had to move our pet flying squirrel into my bathroom cuz he was keeping my parents awake running on his wheel all night!
BIC:
Shye watched on in silence as Frankie and Hope slept.
*That's what I need.* he thought. *Sleep.* He paused for a melancholy, yet hopeful sigh *That'll come soon enough. As soon as I awake.*
Through a crack in the door (workers had come and closed it as the train departed) Shye watched the train rumble over the Hudson and into the rolling countryside. *Nice change of scenery.* He knew good and well that Hope and Frankie thought he had it all together, but he himself had given little thought to where the train might take them until now. He knew it would take them far away from his den by the Hudson and away from NYC, and all of the darkness that accompanied it, hopefully, but where from there?
What he was especially wondering was a question that had been in his heart for years now: could you really leave behind an old life? Can you forget shadow, ignore the scars that you still see every day? He had led a dark life, if you could call it that, for so long now. Could he really escape from it, even when he still felt the burning of that old chain, the scars that mapped his face? He sighed. *Shye,* he thought to himself, *you've done a lot of things you shouldn't have, a lot of things you're sorry for now. But this train will take you away from it all. Everybody probably has a Jezebel in their lives. And everybody who does probably has a train. I can make it though, I can pull myself away.* He chuckled. *I'm getting back on track now.*

Hope gazed around the car once more, yawning and wondering where they were at that point. Surely, she would miss New York City, she she kept telling herself leaving with Shye and Frankie was much better. Finding a lost love was much more interesting than raiding alleys and trashcans for food all day long. She rested her head on her paws again, slowly drifting off to sleep as the car bumped. Soon, she hoped, they'd reach the new city and find Jezebel. Sighing deeply, she drifted off to sleep.
78-110711749724 Feb 2005, 03:00 UTC
The train continued to speed along the tracks, the snow growing denser and deeper as they went. There was a slight draft in the car, but Shye didn't mind. He lay down between Hope and Frankie, trying his best to keep them warm, and marveled for the hundreth time at Hope's resemblance to Jezebel.
Her voice sounded in his head. 'Shye, you're a brave dog. I know some think you're a little wild and all, being half wolf, but you're brave. Really, Shye. I believe in you.' He smiled. She had seen what he couldn't, what he still couldn't. He had by no means been perfect, too free-spirited maybe. He had so many regrets about his life. He knew he had always longed to... he didn't know. Find out who he was, perhaps. Yes, find out exactly who he was. He still didn't know, but he felt that after this journey he just might. 'Shye, I know you're different, but there's a place for you, too. For both of us. And you'll find it, and so will I.'
Day faded into night and soon Shye was staring at a sky dusted with stars like he had never seen before in the city. In NYC the sky was so dark at night- not that you could tell for all the bright streetlights. But now, staring at this natural wonder, Shye wondered why they used streetlights at all.
On his neck there were two more stars glinting into the night, and at that moment he thought that they were surely the brightest.
83-106196074824 Feb 2005, 11:33 UTC
Frankie lay on the floor and looked up at the stars and smiled. She had once lived out in the country on a farm far away from the city. It was mainly a sheep farm but had the odd goose and horse, it was a nice home, but nothin exciting ever happened, frankie got bored and was know good to her owner who handed her over to the search and rescue team who trained her up. She had been to many places, warm places and cold. Unfortunately she became lost on her last mission and never found her way out, which is why she was sitting where she was. A little tear rolled down her cheek as she thought of them times.
'dont be silly frankie, your over it now, get on with the future, maybe at the end of the tracks you may find something new,' she said to herself.
78-110711749725 Feb 2005, 01:28 UTC
Shye arched his back against the cold of the night. It clawed at him, through his thick, black coat. But at least he had these two.
He wondered what secrets their hearts held in the shadows, and if they, too, would find themselves somewhere along these tracks. His eyes took on a glassy stare as the wind whipped into them. He could see a light ahead- heard a long, low wail.
His heart skipped a beat. The track times must have gone wrong. There was another train soming directly in their direction, along the exact same tracks.
'Frankie!' he shouted. 'Hope! Get out! There's about to be a crash!'
And then came the deafening popping and cracking of wood being driven into with a force too furious to be resisted. And there was the screech of metal scraping against metal, the hissing of sparks hitting snow.
'GET OUT!' he shouted again. He, Shye, would be okay- it didn't matter to him- but Frankie and Hope had to get out.... NOW.
66-110927664625 Feb 2005, 02:58 UTC
BlackThunder approaches from behind and said "hi... who is there? And where is Zero? I thought i seen him around..."
83-106196074825 Feb 2005, 11:03 UTC
Frankie lept to her feet and went for the door.
"Its a bit.........arrggg..stiff."
She used all her weight to open it. It gave way. The train was still going fast.
"We have to jump, you guys ready, whatever happens just remeber to roll once you hit the ground, I will sniff you out."
And with that frankie jumped out. She rolled about and felt herself rolling down a small hill, she hit a tree and landed in a stream.
"Ouch......great Im wet aswell."
She shook the water off and walked up the hill. The train was still going, hopefully the others would have made it she thought.
"Only one way to find out." She sniffed the ground and dissappeared into the undergrowth.
66-110927664625 Feb 2005, 17:05 UTC
BlackThunder took deep breath and jump out of the train and accidently landed on Frankie while he was sniffing. He jumped from other car of the train that was about to crash. That why Frankie and others did not know that I was here.
BlackFire stooded up and said "thanks for breaking my fall,.. whoever you are."
78-110711749726 Feb 2005, 00:10 UTC
Shye emerged from the snow and surveyed the scene. The two trains were both flaming, and none but they, the dogs, seemed to be alive. He sniffed the air and concluded that there was another dog.
'Zero?' he asked. 'There's no Zero around here. Well, not that I know of... I had no idea you were here, either.'
Shye realized that he couldn't see Hope. 'Hope!' he called. 'Hope! Where are you?' He began snuffling around the wreckage.
He paused for a moment and looked the other dog over. He was different than most dogs he had seen.
'What kind of dog are you?' he asked. 'And what were you doing on the train?'
Shye really wasn't sure of what to think about this new dog. *Well,* he thought to himself, *maybe he knows some of the terra around here.*
He let a low, warning growl sound in his throat for good measure before resuming his search for Jezebel's sister. He didn't know what he'd do if he lost her as well.
OoC: Umm, BlackThunder, you need to put a profile of your character up. Look at some of the first posts in this thread to get an idea of what it should look like.

Hope felt comfort as she felt Shye ease between them, helping to keep them warm. She brushed up to him, her eyes shut tighter than a newborn pup's, trying to block out the wind that was coming in. She eased a little bit as the train went on, the the time flew past. She soon opened her eyes, staring out the small crack of the car door, out into the dark, cold, starry night. But as the night passed on, she soon felt uneasy as the sound of a roaring train was coming closer. She jumped in fright at Shye's remark. She whimpered and barked suddenly, as the car door swing open, allowing them to escape. She nosed Frankie quickly, and jumped out of the car.
"Frankie!" she had called before.
She landed roughly on the rocky ground, tumbling down a small indent and finally skidding to a halt amoung the dirt. Weakly, she rose to her paws.
"Ow.." she said, shaking tge dirt from her pelt.
She clumsily trodded back up out of the indent, to Shye and Frankie. She gasped as she saw the trains, feeling relieved that they had escaped unharmed. She sat next to them, using her hind leg to scratch herself behind he ear. Both ears were now a bit singed and ripped, but other than a few bumps and bruises, she was okay.
"Whoa. Freaky." she said, blankly blinking, "are you guys okay?" she asked them. She yipped, telling Shye she was here.
She turned her head, as she detecte another canine's presense. She growl escaped her throat, and she didn't feel like dealing with othe dogs at the moment.
83-106196074826 Feb 2005, 10:48 UTC
Frankie pushed the other dog off her back and ran up to Shye and Hope. She stood infront of them and barked.
"Who are you? and what were you doing on the train?"
She turned to the others.
"You ok? what a fall eh?!"
She looked at this mysterious dog and tilted her head, letting the fur on her face reveal her eyes.
78-110711749726 Feb 2005, 17:05 UTC
Shye ran to Hope, who appeared to be okay.
'Hope!' he cried, 'You're alive!' Quickly he turned, so that she would perhaps not notice the emotion that played across his scarred face.
*What am I doing?* he thought. *I was a police dog, tough as nails...* The thought agitated him.
'Well, let's get things straight,' he barked gruffly. 'Frankie, Hope, newcomer.... all safe. Anybody hurt?'
He could see that Hope's ear was bleeding and she had a few scratches, but it was all superficial. Frankie seemed to be okay, and the newcomer was doing fine. They were all a bit dazed perhaps, but everything seemed to be in order.
Shye, himself, was feeling a little woozy, mostly from the fear that had taken hold of him. He wasn't used to that.
83-106196074826 Feb 2005, 22:28 UTC
Frankie sniffed the ground.
"This way." she barked.
She walked through some bushes and came to a dead end near a stream.
"Ummmmmm, which way now?!"
Frankie looked at the water and growled.
"Im cold now, i'm not wading through that, there must be another way."
She looked back at shye, hope and the newcomer.
65-108501507227 Feb 2005, 07:27 UTC
Hope smiled and looked into Shye's eyes. "I sure am." she said, and quickly licked his nose is a sillyish puppy was. She smiled nervously, and trodded after Frankie. She put her nose to the ground, and followed after her. She stopped right behind her.
"Perhaps there's another way." she suggested. "Shye? Do you know where we are?" she asked him. She looked around the sort of 'forest'. It was much different from the alleys of New York City.

OCC: Up above is everthing about me [BlackThunder]
BlackThunder stooded up and said "hmm.. ouch.. heh. thanks for breaking my fall once again... are you sure, you do not know any Zero? Anyway, my names BlackThunder." BlackThunder looked hard at this terra and remembered that this was his old home.. his old pack home. He noticed that other dogs are looking at him like he is different so BlackThunder proceed to say that "I am wolf, in case you want to know."
78-110711749728 Feb 2005, 21:59 UTC
Shye's breath caught mid-way in his throat. He was face-to-face with his unknown past, with the creature, the spirit, that represented everything he was inside, everything he had lost, everything he had gained, everything....
'Um... youre welcome.....You're a... wolf.' He stood in awe.
*So, this is... me,* he thought deep down. *This is who I am.* Shye had known all along that he was half wolf, half German Shepherd, but he had never seen a real wolf before. He had no idea until now where all of his wild, freedom-loving traits came from: his hatred of the leash, his love of the wind.... Now he knew. *Was this what Jezebel wanted me to know? What I was deep down all along?*
He turned away from BlackThunder and looked at Frankie.
'Yeah, we'll find a better way... let's try going along the shore a couple of miles.'
66-110927664628 Feb 2005, 23:00 UTC
BlackThunder looked up and howled and hoped that anyone that he knew will come. Some wolves heard this howl and recogzined it and one of the BlackThunder's good friends appeared and BlackThunder smiled and said "Hey, I haven't seen you in long time! So how are you doing Betu?"
Betu said "I'm fine... hey wheres Zeros?"
BlackThunder responded "I don't know but i have feeling that he will appear eventually."
Betu smiled and looked at the dogs and said "what you doing hang around with that kind of the dogs?" Betu said it loud enough, loud enough to make everyone hear it.
BlackThunder said "um, idk.. i just came here from train and they came from train, just another car apart."
Betu said "oh, i see,... lets go to our terra."
BlackThunder said to the dogs "you can come with us if you want to..."
83-106196074801 Mar 2005, 12:13 UTC
Frankie barked at the wolfs remark
"Hey we didnt invite him he was just there, you got a problem with dogs?!"
She snarled a little, grunted and started to walk off.
"So...we gonna look for another way across right?"
She looked at shye who was staring at the wolves.
"Yes.....they're wolves, lets go, unless you think you can get to where you want to go by following them?"

ooc: I hate being sick... >.<;

Hope bristled her fur, and laid her ears back as she saw the wolf. She was not one to trust a wild animal, and she preferred to stay with Shye and Frankie.
"No, we don't know any Zero." she snapped, and continued to glare at him.
She continued on with Shye and Frankie, trying to find a way to their destination. She looked back quickly at the wolves, and kept going. Just the sight of them made her fur bristle and her instincts go wild.
78-110711749701 Mar 2005, 21:26 UTC
OoC: I do, too! I hope you get better soon.
BIC:
Shye could tell that Hope and Frankie did not want to trust the wolves, but something inside him longed to follow them into the wilds, into the snow and rain and the wind, and to never return.
In the water, two silver stars glinted back at him, reminding him of his mission.
*Temptation I can resist... but freedom? But I AM free now... or at least, I eill be once I find Jezebel. Jezebel is all that matters.*
66-110927664601 Mar 2005, 21:44 UTC
BlackThunder looked at Betu and said "aw,.. maybe we should see Zero back in our terra, I have feeling that our leader will return sometimes soon."
Betu smiled and said "I argee. I have that feeling too." BlackThunder and Betu started to turn around and start to walk to their terra... They were looking at the sun to ensure that was the right way to go. BlackThunder and Betu kept walking on, while the dogs are behind.

Hope looked to Shye. He seemed hesitant, like he didn't want to go.
"Shye?" she asked, "are you okay?" she asked again, in a calm matter.
She shrugged, stole one look back at the wolves, and continued on her way.
ooc: Super-blah post. >.<;

Ooc:Get well soooooooooooon alsatiawolf!!!
bic: Frankie stood for a while staring at the wolves, she waited for them to leave, snorted at them and continued on.
She carried on sniffing the ground, noticing Shye was not his normal self she asked
"Yeah, you ok? You tuned out a bit there?"
She carried on walking til she came to a huge dead tree that had fallen over the river and landed the other side(handy that!
.
She jumped up to make sure it was sterdy.
"Looks ok to me." 66-110927664602 Mar 2005, 21:44 UTC
BlackThunder and Betu kept on walking and all suddenly, BlackThunder let out a howl to let everyone that knew BlackThunder was there and even dogs could hear that howl.
Betu and BlackThunder smiled when some wolves that he knew appeared. Then wolves came near Frankie and other dogs and they were staring at them like they were different, actully they are surrounding them and making sure and waited for BlackThunder to say any command.
BlackThunder stooded and wondering what he should to do.

Hope shrugged, and carried her glance to the fallen log. She pressed her paw against it, and when it didn't sway, cautiously she climbed onto it.
"Seems okay to me, Frankie," she said. "Shye, you comin'?" she asked.
But again, the qustionable scent of the wolves ran past her again. She growled slightly, her fur rising again. She looked back, her eyes growing larger as the wolves surrounded them. Her neck sunk low, and she growled, baring her teeth viciously.
"Leave us be!" she called to the wolves, her voice filled with anger and annoyance.
Don't they get it? she thought, and continued to snarl.

Name: Talia

Age: Unknown
Family: Unknown
Talia is a white Alaskan Malmamute who's age is unknown and an unkown family. Talia was seperated from her parents when she was 3 weeks old, being left to be raised up by Tenkarl, the elder of the Grey wolf clan. more to come...
83-106196074803 Mar 2005, 10:53 UTC
Frankie turned to see the wolves were surrounding them. She barked viciously.
"You heard Hope, we mean you know harm, let us continue on our journey."
the fur on frankies neck stiffened, she growled as she started to slowly walk, backwards on the log.
She turned to Hope and whispered.
"Lets get out of here or we are going to be wolf kibble!"
78-110711749703 Mar 2005, 18:53 UTC
Shye snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of the wolf's cry. His hackles rose along his spine and a low growl rumbled deep in the back of his throat. His ears went back and forth, catching the sounds of the wolves that surrounded them as he lowered his head in the manner of a fighting wolf.
'What do you want from us?' he asked BlackThunder. 'We're going to leave your lands- we don't want anything of yours- not your food, not your terra, nothing. We just want to get on our way.... far away from here.'
His eyes scanned the crystaline wilderness... everything looked so bleak- the stone mountains veiled in snow, the wide, flat prairies suffocating beneath the frozen whiteness. And yet somewhere out there was life- and Jezebel.
Rising from the mist the profiles of several more wolves could be seen, calling to each other in wavering cries. Their voices seemed to twine together like a rope and bind to the air itself until the wind carried them away.
The wolves gathered around the three dogs, on edge, waiting for the commands of Black Thunder and Betu. Shye for one wasn't worried for himself, but Frankie and Hope?
'Leave us be,' he repeated. 'Let us go.'
OoC: Really, dude, we don't want trouble. And what was a wild wolf doing on a train in New York? Just curious.
66-110927664603 Mar 2005, 20:13 UTC
Occ: I am not trying to make any trouble, the wolves are suspocious of you
Bic: BlackThunder said "Well, I could say that I can leave you by, but from looks of things, I think you couldn't survive the wild like we can. City are very different than this."
BlackThunder turned around and commanded the wolves to make them to go with us." BlackThunder promised "We won't harm you."
83-106196074804 Mar 2005, 18:37 UTC
Frankie looked at the wolves and sneered.
"Hey, we can do just fine, we have all lived rough in the city it cant be any worse than living in the wild."
She looked at the wolves and then at Shye.
"If you feel the need to escort us then by all means do so, but as long as you dont slow us down, I feel Shye wants to find this place quickly."
78-110711749705 Mar 2005, 03:26 UTC
Shye was confused now. He didn't know if the detour would lead them further away from Jezebel or not, or if they should just follow the train tracks. Either way, he didn't want to get anyone else into trouble by getting on the pack's bad side.
Of course, Frankie really didn't seem to care. She was really very daring, and he could see just how she had survived life as a stray for as long as she had. But as rough-and-tough a life as they had lived in NYC, would it be enough to keep them going in the wilderness? Scrounging and hunting were two totally different things, and even though Shye knew he could sustain himself long enough to complete his mission, he feared for the other two.
Maybe it would be better to go with the wolves... maybe they would even have to split, though he didn't think his heart could take another scar like that, and he would dread the departure.
''Well,'' he began unsteadily, ''we really have a place in mind we need to get to, but you're right. Being in the wild and being in the city aren't the same at all. Even so, I think we can handle ourselves...'' not wanting to come off as rude, he added, ''of course, we're be delighted for you to escort us if you think we need it.''
He could've bitten his own tail for that. Were they really trustworthy? And besides that, since when did he care about being rude, or even about leaving behind the others? He turned on enough in the past- why did it bother him now?
*I'm changing,* he thought. *For good or for bad, I'm changing. Maybe...* he shook himself out of his thoughts and looked at BlackThunder, then swept his gave towards Betu.
83-106196074805 Mar 2005, 13:33 UTC
Deep down Frankie knew Shye was right, if we needed help at least the wolves would be there.
"Escort it is then, you ok Shye, you look deep in thought?"
Frankie looked at the wolves and went along with the fact they might actually need them.
"Which way?"
65-108501507206 Mar 2005, 04:10 UTC
Hope was growing even more agitated. She didn't like these wolves, even if they did promise not to harm them. She was stubborn. She stayed beside Frankie and nodded.
"We should get outta here," she said, looking back.
But why was Shye agreeing? He didn't seem like the dog who would trust or go along with wolves.
She still growled, and held up her fur.
"Leave us." she stated slowly, but firmly. She wanted to go along to find Jezebel with just Shye and Frankie.
And it wasn't like they really were in the wilderness. They could survive! Couldn't they?
She barked at once when the wolves closed in, herding them like cattle.
"No!" she said, and bared her teeth. She would not have it.
and how they completely trust them? They were wolves, afterall. Still, she growled, and held her ground. She trotted away slowly, a few feet from them. Sure, she was being stupid and stubborn, but she was just that way. She didn't want to trust the wolves, or go with them. She shook her head, looking at Shye. Why'd he say 'yes'? She backed away, and stood, watching as the wolves led the dogs away. Maybe she was on her own now, but she felt it was best.
78-110711749707 Mar 2005, 19:30 UTC
Shye could tell that Hope wasn't particularly fond of the pack, and they could cause trouble for her for that.
'Hope,' he began, 'we really don't know the area. I didn't exactly plan on this, you know. Maybe they can help.'
He wanted to get to know more about the wolves, maybe a little more about himself, but then again, did they really need them? And what if they turned on them? Frankie, Hope, and Shye had proved to be a good trio already. But could they really survive alone... or were they really alone at all?
65-108501507208 Mar 2005, 02:57 UTC
Hope continued growling, but she quit it. She knew she was just being stupid. But still, she just didn't trust the wolves. Shye, herself and Frankie were a good combo, weren't they? Hope thought so. She shrugged, but still stood, not wanting to come any closer.
"Are...you sure?" she asked. She could trust Shye, but she really didn't want to leave him and Frankie.
Still, she insisted they go by themselves. So, she stood, waiting, wondering what to do.
83-106196074808 Mar 2005, 17:06 UTC
Frankie hung her head.
"I dunno, can we trust them? Afterall they are wild!"
Who else do we have to trust she thought.
"Im confused, I leave the choice to you Shye, afterall, we will follow you to whatever end!"
Frankie would aswell. No matter what choice he made, she was with 100%, she might not like it and she knew that by the looks of the things Hope didnt like it either, but it was down to shye, he was the leader of their pack. Frankie was proud of how far the little pack had come and was warming to her new little family.
78-110711749709 Mar 2005, 02:59 UTC
Realizing that he must lead the way, but at the same time taking the other's veiws into consideration, he knew he had to explain.
''I know you don't really trust these wolves,'' he told them, ''but maybe they can help. And... I don't know... I kind of actually want them with us- for a while anyway.'' He paused to shoot a glance over at BlackThunder and Betu to make sure they were taking it all in well. ''I don't see anything wrong with being wild...''
*yes you do, Shye,* he told himself, *being wild was what caused you to decide to ignore your officer and chase after Jezebel in the train cart. It's why you're not a police dog anymore. It's why...*
''but you see, I-I'm half wolf myself.''
66-110927664610 Mar 2005, 00:48 UTC
BlackThunder said "stop with all this talking and let go, we do not have all day." BlackThunder gave command to escort them to our terra. It was getting darker and darker, the dogs and the wolvies could barely see BlackThunder in the dark area. BlackThunder and other dogs and wolvies finally arrived at his territory and said to the dogs "you are to stay here, just trust on me on this one."
BlackThunder went inside of his den and another female wolf suddenly appeared and went inside of BlackThunder's den.
Then this female wolf came out BlackThunder's den and the female wolf walked up to Frankie and said "I am really pleased that you came here. The names is Raven, heh, do not ask me why my names is Raven. BlackThunder here, he is not so fond bringing in the strangers, and such of things but since there is something going on in this forest, he had to bring you in for your protection."
Raven surveyed Frankie and said "what is ur names and where you came from?" Raven stooded up and said to Frankie "come, follow me I want to show you something."
78-110711749710 Mar 2005, 03:43 UTC
Shye was confused. Why did this wolf, Raven, show so much interest in Frankie?
''She's not going anywhere without me...'' he said, and glancing behind him at Hope, added, ''or her.''
It was important that they stick together, especially with BlackThunder having been so quick to hurry them away into his terra. They hadn't even agreed on leaving yet, but here they were, in another wolf's terra, not knowing anything about anything.
Shye hadn't been given much of a choice to follow or not, neither had the others, especially with all the wolves surrounding them. He decided to make his point clear to BlackThunder, who for some reason didn't seem to understand that they had a mission and couldn't lose the trail of the train tracks.
''BlackThunder,'' he began, ''we really shouldn't be here. We need to get to the train tracks. The longest we can stay here is one night, but then we have to go.''
Shye wasn't one to back down for anything. However, in the presence of these wolves, these powerful symbols of the wild, of the side of himself he had never seen in its true light, he felt weaker, more helpless.
*But I don't need to be intimidated by them,* he thought, *that's part of me- of what I am. In a way, I'm one of them. I can't back down. I won't. I'd die fighting.... if I could.*

Hope listened to each of her pack member's views. Sighing heavily, she trod over.
"F-fine," she said, her head down as she crept lightly to Shye. Suddenly, she stopped. "You're half w-wolf?" she asked, and gave him an odd look. They had been trusting a wolf hybrid all along!
But, did it prove they were able to be trusted? Shye seemed to be able to be trusted, but he was a mix. Full-blood wolves were different, but it seemed tonight that they would have to stay with them. She didn't like BlackThunder's rush, and it seemed quite suspicious. She looked again to Shye, her ears lowered. Sighing again, she reluctantly walked with Shye, Frankie, and the wolves into the forest. Hopefully they'd only have to stay in the forest with the wolves for tonight, and then they could get back to their journey. She still was mistrusting, but she went along anyway.
"What kind of thing is going on, exactly?" she asked the large leader, but still walked.
As they reached the wolves' dens, she stopped, sniffed the area, and stood quite close next to Shye. She felt protection when with him. She knew he wouldn't let anything bad happen to them. She watched as Raven lead Frankie away, and she let out a small whimper, wondering why they were taking her. But still, she stood right next to Shye.
83-106196074810 Mar 2005, 20:08 UTC
After the eerie walk through the forest they arrived at the den. Frankie was still thinking about Shye as half-wolf.
"Hey, your still the same dog to me, its whats deep down that counts."
She did not trust these shifty charcters and even through she was a brave dog she did feel safer with Shye and hope about.
A female wolf walked up to her.
"Me....you want me to go in there?"
Why me of all, im not part wolf, well I dont think I am.
"Ok....if thats what you want, but one false move and I will not be a happy puppy."
She turned to shye.
"I will be fine....if anything looks dodgy I shall barkk to let you know."
She then looked at Hope who looked worried.
"I will be back, I promise."
And with that she dissappeared into darkness, treading on unknown ground. The first time for Frankie to walk in a wolves den.
*What do they want with me?*she said to herself.
65-108501507211 Mar 2005, 04:26 UTC
Hope watched as Frankie was let off.
"Okay," she said, watching her walk off.
She was nervous about it still, but she new Frankie was smart. If she was in danger, or sensed it, she'd be out of there.
78-110711749711 Mar 2005, 18:04 UTC
Shye stood close to Hope, worried that Frankie wouldn't come back out. He was aware that she could 'handle herself' very well, but still....
His blind eye followed his gold one as he watched her fade into the mouth of the den. He sighed, his breath shaking.
''Hope,'' Shye said, ''if she doesn't come back out...''
He couldn't finish. He just stopped and wondered- what if?
''Maybe they're not so bad,'' he added quickly. ''I mean, they haven't harmed us yet. Maybe they won't. Besides, what would they want with Frankie that could possibly lead to her....'' he stumbled, ''to her death?''
He drew in another quavering breath, once again feeling that alien emotion- fear.
65-108501507212 Mar 2005, 03:25 UTC
Hope looked to Shye.
"I'm sure she'll be fine...," Hope said uncertainly, "but you know how spunky that little dog is!" she said, chuckling a little bit.
"They may not seem bad, but, well," she started again, "I don't know. I just don't trust them, that's all. Will we leave in the morning? We have to get on with our journey..." she said, trailing off.
Hope's breathing quickened a little, and she watched as Frankie disppeared.
Please let her be okay. Hope thought.
78-110711749712 Mar 2005, 16:13 UTC
Shye was lost in his own thoughts when Hope's question somehow seeped in to his subconcious.
''Er... yeah. We'll leave first thing in the morning. Sure. We'll get back to the tracks...'' his voice trailed off as another of his own questions arose in his mind. ''If they want to come with us there's really nothing we can do about it.''
He sighed. When were they coming back? What was taking them so long? Why had BlackThunder said scarcely a word the whole time?
''BlackThunder,'' he started, ''what does Raven want with Frankie? And when's the earliest that the three of us can set off in the morning?''
65-108501507212 Mar 2005, 23:20 UTC
"OK," Hope said merely as she listened to Shye.
She listened as Shye talked with BlackThunder. She agreed. And why had BlackThunder been so, so...suspicious? It was awkward, and was one of the things that set her off. She swished her tail with uneasyness and annoyance, awaiting the wolf's answer.
78-110711749714 Mar 2005, 18:38 UTC
OoC: When is BlackThunder going to reply?! If you're out there, BlackThunder, pleeeeeeeeeease post a reply!

Blackthunder said "I want you to stay here until I tell you its safe to leave, understood?" Raven was behind BlackThunder and Raven gave them a look that kidna say "you better listen to him".
Raven said "Waht is this dog or wolf that you speak of and are in searching of?" Raven lowered her head and sitted up and waited for answer.
82-111069430116 Mar 2005, 03:37 UTC
Ok, to start of with my name is Ripper, I am a 17 year old halfbreed (half malamute and half wolf), I am here for I am a stray, because I got seperated from my loved ones when I was very young and have been searching for them ever since. And while I'm searching for them, I like making new friends and helping others.

Shye could faintly hear Raven and BlackThunder questioning Frankie on the 'wolf or dog they were searching for.'
*No,* Shye thought, *don't ask her. Please! She hardly knows anything about Jezebel!*
He only hoped that they would go easy on her once they realized the limits of her knowledge, or that she could get herself out of trouble without putting the rest of them in danger. Shye didn't want to have to make a run for it with a whole pack of wolves chasing them.
Suddenly something else snatched at his attention- a strange scent on the wind. For a moment Shye thought he saw another wolf- or was it a dog? His ears swivled around to catch any sounds that might be there, any tell-tale signs of danger.
He abandoned his attempt to eavesdrop on the hushed voices of the wolves and Frankie, and turned his attention to the newcomer.
''Hello?'' he called out. ''Is somebody there?'' 65-108501507216 Mar 2005, 05:20 UTC
ooc: Welcome then, Ripper! ^_^
bic:
Hope, too, listened. She didn't know much of the dog they were looking for, but she did know a little more than Frankie. They seemed to be going easy on her, but BlackThunder's rough voice didn't convince her. While Frankie and the wolves discussed, she turned her attention to the strange new scent in the wind.
No, not more trouble. Not another wolf. She thought. She was tired of dealing with wolves.
83-106196074816 Mar 2005, 21:22 UTC
Frankie looked at Raven, and then turned at blackthunder and then back at Raven. Why on earth do they wanna know about this dog, whats it to them. Say something quick frankie the silence is chilling.
"Well, its not really who I am looking for, im here for....enlightenment. If you want the whole story your going to have to ask Shye. Im afraid thats all I know."
Frankie sat there waiting, she had told them the truth, and nothing more.
78-110711749721 Mar 2005, 03:59 UTC
Meanwhile Shye paced back and forth by the den entrance, waiting, still on the alert for the other dog he thought he may have seen.
He hardly knew what to believe anymore out in this vast white wilderness. On the snow, blue shadows lay dancing, like moving lace across the ground. Sometimes they would appear to change shape, to look like something that they weren't. Out of the corner of his one good eye he would think he saw something alive- then turn to see an icy ghost of a shadow mock him in fun.
Shye and Hope had been waiting for Frankie for some time now. Shye wasn't used to wildnerness time. In the city everything was fast-paced and steady. Lines of traffic would roll by, pause for the lights, and keep moving as if nothing ever happened. Of course, sometimes there were those who were swept away in the steady flow of city life, fallen by the wayside and forgotten.
But in the wild time had no limits, no boundaries. One moment everything was blowing past so quickly that a second glance would have you lost, like a pack of wolves during the hunt. The next all life seemed to hold still, waiting for the ice on the trees to melt away, and hours became days before there was movement.
''Hope,'' he said, ''I don't think Frankie's coming back out. But I'll call. If I don't get an answer, we'll just... we'll just have to move on.''
He sighed, then cried out, ''Frankie! Frankie, we need you! It's time to go!''
He waited and those moments seemed the longest of all.
83-106196074821 Mar 2005, 11:40 UTC
Frankies ears swivelled round to hear a familiar voice. Her rear moved up slowly. She looked at the wolves.
"I have told you all I know, I shall leave now."
The leaving part took a little longer than she thought, she wanted to make sure the wolves didnt attack her as she turned her back on them. So she walked backwards through the tunnel, this seemed like the longest tunnel in the world, it got colder and eerie, the wolves were like little statues in the snow as she got further and further away from them. She finally felt that she was out of the tunnel but before she could turn around she bumped into hope. She turned around as quick as she could.
"Boy am I glad to see you guys, you know I really think we outta get out of here!"
78-110711749721 Mar 2005, 19:12 UTC
Shye was overjoyed to see Frankie. He knew the wolves were part of him, that he was one of them deep down, but that still didn't mean that they weren't dangerous to dogs or hybrids. They had every right to kill them, and Shye just hoped that they wouldn't.
''I can't tell you how glad I am to see you!'' he called out, then ran up to Frankie and nuzzled her cheek. He stepped away and scented the wind. ''We'd better get going. There's a storm blowing in, and I don't want to wait for it to happen here. We'll get a move on and find some shelter once we've gone a good ways.''
He looked back at the den, and thought about BlackThunder and the other wolves, of how wild they were- of how wild he had been as a police dog. With a pang he remembered turning on one of his own teammates that night at the tracks, trying to get to Jezebel. They had attempted to hold him back. He had lunged at them, had tasted blood, he hadn't cared... not then he hadn't. But memories of the sort had haunted him afterwards.
*Maybe theres nothing wrong with being wild.* he thought *The real problem is being tamed when you werent meant to be. Jezebel would have wanted me to know that.*
Under his breath he whispered, ''Thanks for everything, BlackThunder,'' and started off against the wind into the endless white world that lay before them.
65-108501507222 Mar 2005, 05:05 UTC
Hope nodded, and looked into the dark den.
The time passed on, and finally, the long "hours" paid off. Frankie came out of the dank, dark den, seemingly unharmed.
"Glad to see you're alright, Frankie," Hope said, a nervous smile on her muzzle. "Perhaps we should leave...now." she said, turning around.
She looked back to the den once more, before nodding to Shye, and starting off. Finally, they were moving on their journey again, and were leaving the wolves. She had never gotten over the nervous feeling of being with them. She looked ahead, to the vast snowland. She hoped they wouldn't get lost. But with a dog like Shye, who would? She smiled with confidence, trotting after Shye and looking back to make sure Frankie was still with them.
83-106196074822 Mar 2005, 12:07 UTC
"Im ok, im alot better now those wolves are behind us, not that I have anything against wolves, just they gave me the creeps."
Frankie smiled and trotted on behind hope and Shye, she felt safer keeping up the rear, checking now and then if anything was following them. She sniffed the ground and sneezed as her nose went through a puddle.
"Hey, shye, how far we got to go?"frankie cried from behind.
78-110711749723 Mar 2005, 21:23 UTC
Shye looked back at Frankie, and shouted over the wind, "Not far."
Ahead he had spotted a group of boulders all piled together, making several warm, dry, dog-sized crevices, about a half of a mile ahead into the sparse woodlands.
He looked back again to make sure Frankie and Hope were keeping up okay, and was satisifed to see Frankie bringing up the rear and Hope just behind him.
He chuckled to himself to think of how he had disliked the company of other dogs before he met those two. He had ben closed off to the world around him, just dwelling on his predicament, waiting for the right time- or dog- to come along.
*Come along and help,* he thought, *help me get back on my feet. I didn't even realize it... but that's what they did. I did need help.*
For a moment he felt a pang of shame coursing through him. Okay, so loneliness wasn't a weakness... but sometimes he couldn't help but see it as one. However, at another look back at his two newfound friends, he knew it was meant to be, and smiled.
"Almost there," he called back.
65-108501507223 Mar 2005, 23:01 UTC
Hope nodded as they trudged on. Looking to the rocks and straight ahead, she knew what a long way they had come. Sneaking onto trains, escaping wolves, it was all a great adventure. But what about the cause? Were they really going to find Jezebel? She wondered this, but she trusted Shye. He would get them to wherever they were going, and safely, too.
"So, where are we going, anyway?" she asked, just wanting to know. She was eager to find Jezebel.
78-110711749724 Mar 2005, 19:57 UTC
Shye looked at Hope, then paused, searching for an answer. "We're going to find Jezebl- to were we're called."
He hoped this was a good answer. He wished he could tell her more... but he couldn't, for various reasons. Some things he didn't know, and some he did but didn't dare speak of them.
"We'll be there soon enough." He promised.
83-106196074824 Mar 2005, 20:00 UTC
"Ok,"frankie barked back.
She was looking up at the sky, trotting along in a world of her own. She was thinking of how far they had come, what an adventure, beat staying back in the city. She inhaled a large breath of fresh air.
*Ok, so the trip is not just for the thrills, I am here to help and hopefully find help for myself, boy I'd love to find my owner from the rescue agency.*
Frankies head lowered as she thought about this.
*Lets not get troubled by it, if I find him, I find him. If not then im sure something will work out, that in itself will be and adventure,* Frankie thought to herself. She looked up at the boulders.
"They look cozy!"
She turned behind, alls clear.
66-110927664625 Mar 2005, 04:18 UTC
BlackThunder stooded up and said "enough with chit-chit and he ordered his pack to scout the area in case if other pack are trying to advance to us or find Zero or possibly a stray dog that he has hearing about,.. was it jezebel or something. Raven and BlackThunder and those dogs are only one left in the den and BlackThunder stared ahead at them and Raven did that too and BlackThunder wondered to what to do with them.
The scouting wolf stopped them from leaving in a long tunnel while scouting and told them to get back to the den. This wolf had a rough eye that can send a shiver down to their bones and he was serious.
78-110711749725 Mar 2005, 21:12 UTC
Shye approached the boulders and snuggled into a crevice, but (as usual) he couldn't sleep.
Deep into the woods the fading sun was snatching at the icy branches of the pine trees, and the glare obstructed his vision. But he could still hear... there was something out there. Like wolves.
*Oh no,* he thought. *Why can't BlackThunder just leave us alone? We have a mission to complete!*
He arose from the rocks, the hair along his spine rising. His ears swivled towards the sounds, and he bared his teeth in an agitated manner.
''Hope, Frankie- it's not over yet.''
66-110927664625 Mar 2005, 23:18 UTC
The scouting wolf howl and in a heartbeat, most of the other wolves appeared and they looked at them. The scouting wolf said "go back, do what i say!". Then Raven appeared from south and said "come on, lets go, get back to den!"
BlackThunder was sleeping and one of his loyal follower came through the forest and said "our enemies is nearby, we must act fast!" BlackThunder stooded up and whole awake and said "WHAT?!" and he turned to his loyal follower and said "####, what we should do?" and all suddenly a voice echoed from a forest and said "we should keep low profile for while and attack them while they do not expect it." BlackThunder turned around and it was Zero! BlackThunder smiled and said "argeed and scout--bring those wolves back here right now!" Then the scout wolf ran off and told Raven the story and Raven said "okay, lets go back to den."
65-108501507226 Mar 2005, 08:11 UTC
Hope trotted up, sniffed at the boulders, and finally settled down next to Frankie. She wasa little cold, but rather heated from their journey over here. She let her eyelids slowly close, and her head lower. But just as they were all settling, BlackThunder appeared. Hope aruptly woke and got up, now more irritated than ever. Why couldn't the wolves just leave then be? They weren't doing any harm. And plus, they needed rest to get on with their journey. She could never rest with the wolves. She stepped out slowly, her gait choppy. The fur along her back was raised, her ears back, tail high and her teeth bared. She let out a low, long growl.
"Leave us be!" she called out, barking and showing her teeth. "We don't need you!" she called ou again.
Why wouldn't the wolves leave them alone?
66-110927664626 Mar 2005, 15:43 UTC
BlackThunder told to the dogs "shut up, you stay behind!". Zero was standing next to BlackThunder and Zero said "all of you, expect the dogs come with me to war, be brave men-protect our home!" BlackThunder, Zero and other wolves left, expect Raven stayed behind with the dogs. Raven looked at wolves and they had kinda surprised or shocked face on their face.
83-106196074826 Mar 2005, 16:25 UTC
frankie was so tired she had already dropped off to sleep. When she had noticed that hope was not next to her she got up. She jumped outside and stood on the highest boulder.
"What the heck is going on?!"
She turned and looked at the wolves.
"Great. I thought we had lost em, I was wrong."
She stood still, just staring at them.
78-110711749727 Mar 2005, 00:39 UTC
Shye heard the wolves talking, and shouted over to them. "We are NOT your enemies!"
He was getting EXTREMELY AGITATED about now. It wasn't like they, the dogs, were in a war or anything. They weren't even on the wolves' territory. They had their own business to attend to; why couldn't the wolves just leave them be?
"BlackThunder- look, we don't want anything to do with you. We want to LEAVE. Like, NOW. We won't go back with you. LEAVE US ALONE."
He gave them a hard stare. What couldn't they understand?
87-111007619527 Mar 2005, 01:14 UTC
I'l join
name Blaze
breed wolf/husk
age less than one
unknown to them a wolf hybrid was sleeping to with them too.they woak up growling.Blaze said I'm sorry I don't want any troble I'm tring to make my way it's hard with this wound on my face.
78-110711749727 Mar 2005, 15:21 UTC
Shye turned his attention towards Blaze.
''Who are you?'' he asked, hoping he wasn't one of BlackThunder's scouts. There were wolves coming out the woodwork it seemed! Shye glanced around, scanning the area, looking for more.
*I wonder if this wolf-dog will end up with us, too* he thought. *I can't take in the world's strays... but then again, it wouldn't hurt to have someone around who knew the area... and wasn't trying to kill us.*
He looked back at BlackThunder and felt a new surge of rage course through him. He was so overbearing, obnoxious one might say. Shye knew not all wolves were like that, and that they, like dogs, each had their own personality, and just hoped that Hope and Frankie wouldn't stereotype their kind- his kind.
He was going to try, one last time, to talk BlackThunder out of anything he was going to do.
''Look, BlackThunder,'' he began, ''we don't want trouble. All we want is to leave here ad get on our way. We don't want to get into any war. We've been journeying for, gosh, it must've been weeks by now. You see, there's this dog we're trying to find, and Hope and Frankie have accomanied me all the way from New York City. You remember- you saw the train crash. So, yeah, we just want to go... now. Just leave us alone.''
66-110927664627 Mar 2005, 15:59 UTC
BlackThunder and Zero turned his head toward to Shye and said "young fool, I did not tell you that you are coming to involve any war, you stay behind and we leave to fight and when it is safe, you can leave. Do you want to be killed my our enemy while u are trying to have your little journey?" Zero and BlackThunder then turned their head and Zero ordered a ambush and all wolves and Zero, and BlackThunder left.
Raven stooded there and looked at them while they left and she turned around and walked and lies down and hopes they make it. Raven looked at Shye and said "BlackThunder is not mean as he seems but he means well." Raven yawned and lies down once again and looked at the dogs for while.
78-110711749727 Mar 2005, 16:20 UTC
Shye watched him stalk off. He could have sworn he heard one of the dogs mutter, "And good riddance," under their breath.
He turned towards Raven.
"Yeah, I know... um, well, I guess we'll be off then." Looking back at Blaze, he added, "so, you coming?"
66-110927664627 Mar 2005, 20:33 UTC
Raven said "well, if you want to leave, you can leave but do not tell me that BlackThunder and myself did not warn you!" Raven yawned and walked and went back inside her den and lies down and took a nap.
While all this was going back in den, BlackThunder and Zero was fighitng and several of scouting wolves and BlackThunder and Zero was injured during the battle and still fighting.
83-106196074827 Mar 2005, 22:16 UTC
Frankie watched the wolves, she looked at shye.
"It must be hard for you....you know bein half of them, the inner wolf wanting to get out and yet the dog pulling it back, I can understand. I have know idea what it feels like, i'm sorry it has gone this way, i can understand that you want to learn more from them or even join them. But deep down you want to find her, dont you? Lets tackle one task at a time," she smiled, licked his cheek and trotted over the boulders.
"Hey...blaze, you might be able to help us navigate."
She turned to Hope and Shye.
"You two comin or what? The wolves will be fine, they are wolves afterall!"
66-110927664628 Mar 2005, 03:29 UTC
BlackThunder and Zero stopped and looked and said "this battle is over, let go back to our hope." Some of surviving scout wolves, and Zero, BlackThunder started to howl and ran, they were heading back to their den and sensed that the dogs were still there. Zero ran ahead and catched up with the dogs with one scout wolf and Zero said "well, it is safe-do not worry, BlackThunder told me and also, I could like you to take this wolf, his name is Arbiter." Arbiter stepped forward and Zero said "will you appect him?" BlackThunder and his pack during this was running toward to his den and arrived, and Zero and Arbiter stooded there waiting for a answer.
65-108501507229 Mar 2005, 05:59 UTC
Hope shook her head, and growled even more. These wolves were *really* annoying her now.
"Leave us be." she said flatly, and moved back.
She looked to Shye, and was happy he agreed, and was growing more and more aggitated with these wolves.
"War?" she asked suddenly, but forced herself to stay quiet as Shye and BlackThunder "battled" it out.
Nodding, she looked back to Shye. "We should just leave. I'm sure we'll be fine." she said.
She then turned abruptly as she saw Blaze. Another wolf? They just kept coming. Sighing, she watched him too, and saw he was no threat. But, still, she was not open to having another dog come with them. She liked Frankie and Shye enough. She turned, taking one last look at the wolves before following Shye and Frankie.

Zero growled, and said "are you leaving without him, he said he met some stray dog few weeks ago, and if you do not want him-fine." Zero and Arbiter walked backward, then turn around and started to run back to their home and they howled on way to inform BlackThunder and pack that them two are coming back.

Shye looked at Arbiter. Would he be too much trouble to take on? Shye had a strange feeling that BlackThunder was trying to make the 'stray dog' Arbiter had seen seem like Jezebel, but Shye knew that it couldn't have been... because, well, only he knew...
''We've got enough on our hands at the moment,'' Shye told them, flat-out. He was becoming bolder in the presence of these wild creatures, and he felt for the first time as if he could really hold his own if need be. He had only thought that before, but now he felt like a whole new dog... or wolf.
''However,'' he continued, ''if you want to come, there's really nothing we can do to stop you. I wouldn't mind, so long as you provide for yourself.''
Then again, he knew he would end up helping the other wolf either way, if he came.
''Aw, what the heck.''
In the company of both wolves and dogs, he felt that it had shown him something important: that even though it's easier to be on one side or the other, being somewhere in the between is just getting the best of both worlds.
*Jezebel,* he thought, *I'm almost there.*

Hope continued on behind Shye.
"Wait, now a wolf is coming with us?" she asked, shocked. They had just fought out to leave, and now one was coming with them? She shook her head, and bared her teeth a little. She wanted no wolves near.
She looked to Shye. She shook her head slowly.

BlackThunder left as Arbiter stayed and said "well, are you ready to travel?". Arbiter stooded and waited for something to happen, to just travel. Arbiter looked ahead and said "well, are you planning to stay or move on to find this stray dog that i been hearing about."

Shye looked all of them over. It was amazing how far everyone had come, everything they had been through.... He understood perfectly of how Hope felt about the wolves, and decided to settle it once and for all.
''BlackThunder,'' he began, ''first off, I'd just like to say thanks for sending Arbiter- he can guide us. After all, we don't know this area.''
He turned to look at Hope, and explained in a hushed voice.
''Hope, I know how you feel about the wolves, but if we don't take him there'll only be more trouble. You see that, don't you? Besides, it's true that one of us could get lost out here. Arbiter will know the land.''
He smiled at Arbiter again, to let him know that there were no hard feelings.
He nuzzled Hope and told her, ''I just want everyone to make it out of here...'' he paused, ''as they came.'' He thought it over again. ''I mean, I just want us all to be safe.''
He looked out over the wilderness.
''Let's go.''
He trotted on ahead, not bothering to look back.

Arbiter looked at Shye and said under his breath "thanks". Arbtier decided to ask them who this dog or wolf that they are looking for. Arbiter stooded up tall and said "who is this dog or wolf that you are seeking for and what is important about him or her?" Arbiter stooded and waited for a answer.

Hope looked to the snowy ground, to the wolves, then back to Shye.
"Fine.." she said, letting her eyes look to him. She trusted him still, so she went along with it. "I just wanna go."
She didn't bother to look back to the wolves or even Arbiter. She just kept walking slowly behind Shye. She was just happy to get back on the road to find Jezebel. Hopefully they weren't too far...she was getting a little anxious to get there and get rid of the wolf that was now traveling with them.

The wolf didnt bother frankie that much, as long as he kept way up at the front and kept them out of danger. Frankie was at the back, she felt safe there, making sure the others were safe from any attacks from behind. She looked over her shoulder at the wolves which were like little toys in the snow as they became a distant memory. She then looked back up, blaze was to her right, hope ahead, then shye and then Arbiter. She grunted and then carried on trotting.

Shye heard BlackThunder call out and ask him about 'the dog or wolf they were searching for.'
''She was... she was a police dog,'' he called back. ''I was- am- in love with her.'' He knew it went deeper than that, that there was a whole other story to tell, and that some parts hadn't been revealed yet- by his own choice.
''Hope, Frankie, Arbiter- we're really not that far now.'' He told them, smiling.
''So, um, Arbiter,'' he began, attempting to break the awkward silence, ''what's your story? Come to think of it, Hope, Frankie- what's yours?''
He knew Frankie used to be a search and rescue dog, but that was all. And Hope- he didn't know anything about her, except for her geneaology.
''I mean, you don't have to tell me... if you don't want to...''

Hope kept trudging on, her spirits turning a little lighter as Shye remarked.
"We are? Great." she remarked back.
After a little bit of silence passed, she sighed.
"Well, I don't have much to tell..." she started, "I lived on the streets all my life. When I was younger, my mother and siblings were hit by a car and killed. One survived, and was taken somewhere, somewhere called the 'SPCA', I think," pausing, she sighed once again. "I also survived, and, well, here I am. I managed to survive by raiding dumpsters and garbage cans. I really am happy to be able to help find Jezebel." she finished.

Arbiter stared at Shye and said "do not ever ask me about my history, understood?" Arbiter then turned his head back and kept walking and he kept the silence by himself and he was burning from anger of ihs past. Arbiter looked behind and smiled to hide that.
