� � � It was the coldest winter Ayipuyi had ever seen.She was alone.Her pack had bad luck that year catching caribu since eskimo hunters killed the pack's best hunters and the leader. Then,a bear attacked separating her from the remaining members of the pack.She bounded through the snow looking for someone to help her. Ayipuyi sniffed the air. Someone was near.

Brown,tan, black Wolf/Dog mix
Snow kicked up as a dog raced across the wintery landscape, close upon his heels trailed two others, huskeys by the looks of them and no friend of the lead canine.
Looking back across his shoulder, the brown managy dog could see the two behind him, murder in their eyes...jeez, you'd think they couldn't take a joke...or the fact he had stolen their dinner......or their collars.....or the...the ground dropped out from under him, and he crashed down into the ground heavily, snow flung everywhere as he rolled down a hill and onto his side.
"Ow...need to watch where I'm going..." shaking his head, the dog slowly rose to his feet, large paws sinking into the snow covered ground as the huskeys were upon him in a flash. Whirling around, lashing out with a hind leg, he caught one in the face, sending him yelping to the ground, the other was quicker and sunk his teeth into the shagy mutts leg. Howling out in pain, he jerked free, placing his paws upon an unseen cliff. The snow overhang gave free quickly and plunged the mutt down another hill side...striking rocks on his way down...he would tumble to an end upon the ground below, luckily the snow was deep enough to break his fall and not his neck...dazzed he lay there attemping to catch his breath...

"Huh?What was..."Ayipuyi began to say.She saw a wolf laying on the ground.She glared at it,and growled lowly.She hoped this dog was friendly.
"Um...dog?Are you okay?Who are you?What are you doing?"she asked.Ayipuyi cocked her head.She walked up to it,and looked at it's face.

Jake opened his eyes and stared at three Ayipuyi's syanding over his head. Eyes blinking slowly he waved a paw at the female before him, "I WaNnA rIdE tHe PoNy..." rolling over from his back and onto his paws, the canine slowly picked himself up...tho he was by no means steady as he staggered around...ouch everything hurt!
Shaking his head slowly, he cleared it enough to see only two Ayipuyi's...ah, much better. "Hmm..I'm okay...I'm okay. I ment to do that. And the names Jake...its a pleasure to meet both of you." he comments, stepping foward back into the chiff. "Hey...who put this there?" sitting back onto his haunchs, the dog rubs his nose and glances up the rocky chiff side a moment before returning his head towards Ayipuyi.

Jake slowly gets himself steady and after a moment, manages to see there is indeed only one Ayipuyi. His ears perked up as she seemed uneasy around him. The wolf/dog mix blinks blue eyes and flicks his tail slightly. Grinning sheepishly he stands up, he never had much experince with the ladies, "So...what are you doing out here by yourself?" he asks her, as he sniffs the air...he doubted the pair of huskies would give up so easily.

Jake nods his head slowly, before padding around in a circle, hopefully those two wouldn't be able to find their way down here to quickly, he then turns back to Ayipuyi and grins, "I'm always by myself, always have been, always will be." he moves then over towards her, until he's standing before her, "So, you've lost your pack? How long ago has it been?"

Jake nods and looks around again, then back to the cliff, a grin spreading across his muzzle, before he looks back to her, "Oh...I was being chased by some unsavering types...and well...lost my footing and down I went." his grin was sheepish at best, his tail flicking slightly. "Anyway...I've no pressing matters at the moment, if you like, I can help you find your pack."

Jake begins movig away from the cliff, figuering she would follow. He had no real plans to wait on the two brothers to find him anytime soon. Her question causes him to whince slightly, tho, it quickly is replaced with a grin, fake it maybe, "Oh, er...I'm between homes at the moment."

Jake smiles slowly towards her, hmm...join a pack, eh? He had little else really to go back to. None of the other dogs had ever cared for him being around, and the humans seemed to think he was a danger to their kids.
His ears flicked upright towards the sounds of hooves coming towards them...lots of hooves.
"Run!Stampede!"she yelled.
Jake blinked towards the apporching herd and turned to do just that, making sure Ayipuyi was behind him as he headed towards the otherside of the cliff he had fallen down, surely there would be a path that would lead them up, and away from the caribu. "Come on! We need to get above them!" they could never hope to outrace them like this..

"There!"Ayipuyi pointed out.A ledge above them.The only problem was the steep side of the ledge.They ran to the ledge and attempted to climb it.Ayipuyi made it than helped Jake up the slope.

Hind legs kick away lose rocks and dirt as he is helped up by Ayipuyi. The wolf/dog mix turns to watch the caribu rushing along below them. He sighs and sits back in his haunchs, turning to Ayipuyi, however, the ledge is small, and the two canines are sitting close, his nose touchs hers and he blinks...a sheepish grin spreading across his face, "Uh...thanks.." he manages to say.

Jake paces around slowly, sniffing towards their meal and nods his head, "Alright, I'll go for the haunchs...ready?" he asked her, before the pair set off to down the deer. Jake had rarely killed for food, living off the scraps of the human town he had lived in, but he would need to get use to this, if he was to perhaps join her pack.

Jake rolls over as Shadow arrives, he flicks his ears towards the pair as it seems his friend knows the new comer, the half dog half wolf stands and turns quickly at the sounds of a growl coming from behind, a white wolf stands there, and he hardly seemed pleased with the three..Jake took a careful stance, ready to defend himself and the two females behind him if need be. He waited, and let Ayipuyi do the talking for the moment.

I am in the Toklat Pack, but it is most known by BlackFire Pack. I am the alpha and the leader of this pack. *Howls* Then in moment all wolves appeared and said "this is wolves that need help, and they will tell your names, i need to hurry to get some food for them" *Ahem* And said "you can stay here on my terrain as long you want!" Smiles then started running wiht his other three wolves. (to catch food)

Jake stood there, watching the wolves about them, a few was okay, but this many? He was not one for packs, seeing how he had spent much of his life alone, the half dog half wolf waited until Blackfire and his wolves had departed, "Interesting fellow there...um, seems we're having dinner again."

Smiled at Jake. "Well I agree with you that the pack does seem a little larger than the normal wolf pack, but it does have advantages", Shadow said. Looks around at the waiting wolves. "Well I'm off to do a little bit of exploring. I'll be back in a bit", she said. Then she ran off into the shadows of the trees and disappeared.

BlackFire and the wolves came back wiht the huge feast, there was two bucks, 3 rabbits and best of all, 5 doe! Then shouted to all dogs and wolves to come and said "Dig In!!" then smiled. Then overheard Ayipuyi talkiing and said "So,Jake,what do you think?are you nervous?I'm slightly,because I've heard stories about this pack." BlackFire then said "what stories that you heard about my pack?" Then waited for answer for that. Meanwhile, the dogs and wolves are having a huge feast...

"Phoenix", Shadow called. She waited a moment. Then a pure ebony black wolf came out of the bushes. "Shadow, is that you?" it asked. "Yes, my son. Come, I believe BlackFire has brought back food for us", Shadow said before turning and walking back towards the rest of the pack. Phoenix followed her.
Shadow stopped as soon as she heard Ayipuyi say "...ruthless killings,dognapping,and a few that have to do with stealing land..." What in the world, she thought. She walked over to Ayipuyi, Jake, and BlackFire. "Ayipuyi, you remember Phoenix right? My adopted son. Phoenix this is Jake and BlackFire", Shadow said introducing Phoenix before eating.

BlackFire's face becames sour when he hears the name "Eagle" and walked away from the group and goes to his favorite ridge and sits down and look at the sky and thinks "WhiteFire (my dead father) What i have done wrong in past, and maybe those wolves think those stories are true, well it is true" Still thinks, and hears someone behind me and said "who is there?"

I just was running the direction where the raven was pointing, and i hope it is any good news for me. Then started running then arrived the area where raven pointed and heard something and something hits me in my head and falls into ground, Knock-Out!

Phoenix looked up sharply. He had heard something nearby. Slolwy he crept toward the place where he thought he had heard the sound. He peeked his head into the bushes and saw, BlackFire lying on the ground knocked out. Phoenix walked over to him. The closer that Phoenix got, the more his eyes were drawn to the scar over BlackFire's eye. Then thinks to himself, *I'll ask him once he wakes up.* So Phoenix stood watch over BlackFire for what felt like hours. Then the white wolf began to stir. "BlackFire, are you alright?" Phoenix asked softly.

A wolf sprang out of the bushes.It was a male white with black on his back,the tip of his tail,and the back of his ears.
"Phoenix,get away from him!"the wolf ordered.Then,he saw Ayipuyi.
"Ayipuyi,I knew you were here.It's me,Eagle."he said.
"Eagle!"she exclaimed.Ayipuyi ran over to the wolf,and licked him.
"Ayipuyi,it's been awhile.But,right now,I must take care of this pack's leader,BlackFire..He took a part of Sonoran land!"Eagle said.
"BlackFire is this true?"Ayipuyi asked.

"Eagle, I was not trying to take over this land, i just got the scent of someone that i knew and loved, so i decided to walk and follow this scent,.. and were you one who knock me out" BlackFire said in the very doozy conditions. BlackFire stood again and started walking very weakly and said to Shodow "you can stay with your long lost brother" then spit out some blood from the knock out before. then resume walking slowly

OOC: From now on, just so its not confusing, I'll type Phoenix's stuff in italic and Shadow's in regular.
BIC: Shadow looked at Eagle closely. She remembered the wolf yet there was something strange about him. How could it be coinisedence that he just happen to show up? She shook her head. "I'll keep my gaurd up, for my sake as well as others", she thought.
Phoenix looked at BlackFire. He was weak. He could not lead the attack to find the Northern Lights Pack. Yet, how could the wolves have been in the area without somebody sensing them? Phoenix however just listened to the adults talk, after all, who was he to interupt?

Eagle looked away.Should he tell Ayipuyi?He couldn't.Her mother had meant so much to her.The Sonoran pack had been leaderless.Ayipuyi and Eagle's father,Thunderhead,their leader,had been killed by hunters.The beautiful husky/collie/german shepherd/wolf had lead the pack so well.Then,Cascade,their mother,had lead the pack,until a bear had killed her.Then,Eagle had taken over.He wanted to have Ayipuyi there.Eagle knew she had escaped the bear.Then,he had set out to find her.He had been chased by a pack of wolverines,and he had bearly escaped an avalanche(sp?).
� �Eagle had heard of a couple of wolves in BlackFire's terra,and went to see if one was his sister,and he had found her along with Shadow and Phoenix.If they came back to his land,then he would have a pack of nine members(not including him),

"Sure."she replied.He lead her to a spot in the forest where no one was around.
"Remember home?Remember all the things we used to do?"Eagle asked.
"Yes,I remember.It was great!"Ayipuyi exclaimed.
"Well,remember the bear?"Eagle asked looking down.
"Yeah,why?"Ayipuyi questioned.
"Well,I've got to tell you what happened after you lured the bear away from Lightheart.When you did that she alerted the rest of the pack,and Mom rushed over to find you,but she couldn't.I asumed that you had ran,and had gotten lost with the bear behind you,but we were wrong.You had ran,but the bear had stayed.Mom attacked the bear,and the rest of the pack knocked it down.Then,one of it's huge paws smashed againest Mom,and then..."Eagle said.He couldn't tell.It was too much.He felt tears forming.
"Then,what?"Ayipuyi asked slowly.
"Then,as I was biting into his shoulder,her body flew into a tree,and then,that was the end of her time."Eagle said.looking down.
"What!She's....."Ayipuyi cried.
"Gone.I'm sorry.I'm the new Sonoran leader."Eagle said.He looked up.She was crying.
Ayipuyi looked at him than ran off.
Ayipuyi ran through the forest.She ran past BlackFire,and she could hear Eagle calling.
"Ayipuyi!Come back!Please!Ayipuyi!"he called.
She kept on.She stopped about when she had reached a small cave.She curled in there,and cried herself to sleep.

BlackFire heard Eagle saying "Ayipuyi, Ayipuyi, Ayipuyi!!" BlackFire thought she was in some trouble, so he started running to the direction the sound came from, and saw the cave nearby and runned to it and found Ayipuyi there and said "What is matter? Are you all right?" then sit down next to Ayipuyi to comfort her.

Shadow heard BlackFire's call. She did however not go. She had to find Ayipuyi. "Phoenix go with Eagle. If he sends you away tell him that I sent you", Shadow said before she ran off into the woods to find Ayipuyi. She had been running only a moment when she found Ayipuyi. "Let's go Ayipuyi. Eagle needs us now", she said. Then she helped Ayipuyi up and started back towards Eagle and BlackFire.

Shadow trailed along behind Eagle and Ayipuyi. She looked into the bushes, where Eagle was looking. She stepped closer, ready to attack what ever was moving. She lept and pounced. She did however not land on anything but the ground. Phoenix was gone. "Eagle, they've taken him somewhere else", she cried, trying to remain calm.
Almost 25 miles away Phoenix awoke. His head was aching so hard he thought it was going to split. Looking around he saw that he was in some underground den. A few shadowy figures of gaurd wolves stood around the den, but it was to dark for him to see them. "Where's my mom?" he whimpered.
"About to die", one of them snickered.

Shadow looked at Ayipuyi. The hybrid was so kind and caring. Shadow nodded her head. Normally she would not believe her, but something about Ayipuyi told Shadow to believe what she said. She nodded and followed Eagle.
Phoenix heard Eagle's call. "You better let me go. Eagle will kill you if you don't!" Phoenix cried. The wolves around him laughed. "Oh we're so scared" one snickered. "Look kid, theres 5 of us, and 3 of them", he said. "Now there's 4 of us 5 of you", Phoenix protested. The wolf laughed and smacked Phoenix upside the head. "No my young friend, 5 of us and 3 of them. Let's go", he shouted. He led the wolves outside and prepared to fight.

Phoenix looked up. Eagle, Ayipuyi, and Shadow had come. He barked and wagged his tail. Eagle was biting down on the nearest wolf's leg. "You can get him, Eagle", Phoenix barked. However, the other wolves that had been gaurding him started moving in towards Eagle. Eagle was an awesome fighter, but he couldn't take on 5 wolves alone. Phoenix watched in horror as a large gray wolf pounced on Eagle knocking him to the ground.
Shadow snarled. She heard Phoenix inside. She looked at BlackFire. "While you were gone Phoenix was taken captive by the Northern Lights pack", she said. Then she ran inside and caught a wolf in the neck. She threw him aside and turned to face the wolves that were coming down on Eagle. She jumped at one of them, knocking him unconsience (sp?). Eagle had the rest of them under control. Shadow turned to Phoenix. She did not speak but merely went over to him and nuzzled him and would not let him go.

Phoenix jogged after Eagle. He was happy about getting to go. Sure he would miss Shadow and BlackFire, but Shadow was sure to be busy in a few months time. He had expected that BlackFire and her would mate, so it really wasn't a shock to him that a "special" type of glow had appeared in Shadow's eye as she said good-bye to them. He was positive that Ayipuyi would have noticed it, but Eagle probably wouldn't have. Ah well. He'd stop bye in a few months time to see how Shadow and BlackFire were doing.

BIC: Shadow watched as Ayipuyi, BlackFire, and Eagle took down the bear. She saw Phoenix start out to find Eagle's pack. Turning back to the fight she saw BlackFire tossed into the air. She ran to him trying to get him to get up. But he remained lying on the ground, unconsience. Shadow turned and faced the bear. She lunged with all her strength and snagged the bear's neck. She was only there for a moment before she let go and landed on the ground, snarling insults at the bear.
Phoenix watched BlackFire go down. He started to go towards him, but he heard Eagle's cry to go get the rest of the pack, so he turned and ran off through the underbrush as fast as he could go. HE caught their scent within minutes. He ran into a clearing where the wolves sat talking among one another. "Eagle is in trouble", Phoenix shouted. Then he turned around and led the pack to the battle.

Shadow turned to look at BlackFire, but at that moment the bear's paw came crashing down on her, grazing her side. She doged another attack before the loss of her strength drove her unconsience.
Phoenix saw Shadow fall to the ground. He snarled and lept up at the bear, trying to get him away from Shadow. He glanced a quick look over at BlackFire. He had stirred slightly but was not getting up. Phoenix had no time to spare on BlackFire however. If Shadow did not get up there was more than one life at stake. "Eagle your pack is here!" Phoenix shouted. Then sudenly the bear's paw came and slashed Phoenix's throat. Phoenix fell back against a tree. His breaths were short for only a moment, then they ceased.

Shadow heard the bears final roar, but it did not matter. BlackFire and Phoenix were almost , trying to save her. She would not be able to live with herself that way. She could always end her life now, if the loss of didn't. But she thought of her unborn pups and told herself that it would not be fair to them, so hesitantly she got up and walked over to BlackFire. She licked at his wounds trying to stop the bleeding. It helped, a little, but his breathing was harsh. "Don't die on me BlackFire", Shadow whispered, tears matting her cheeks.

ONE WEEK LATER...
The humans was in house and suddenly said "Spike is doing fine and he can run again, i think it is time to let him ago, but i would miss him, he is a wonderful wolf! hey i know, here is something that you can remember us by Spike." The humans gived him a dog collar that really fit him good and it said "B" on it. The humans said "well that collar was my old dog's, but he died couple years ago and i wanted you have it"
BlackFire walked out the door and walked back to his territory with new scar on his left hind leg. BlackFire looked up and said "thank you humans".

A few hours later Shadow awoke. BlackFire was sleeping peacefully beside her. She glanced out over the water. Salmon jumped up from the water. Shadow got up and walked over to the water and waited. Moments passed. Then suddenly she struck. Her jaws dived under the water and snatched up a pair of salmon. She took her prizes back to BlackFire and laid one down beside him. She laid down again and began to eat.

Shadow struggled for about a mile before she addmitted defeat. She laughed and looked down at her stomache, the pups would be born soon (sorry growing impatient, i might just totally screw the whole 2-3 month thing). So raising her muzzle she howled to tell Ayipuyi and Hawk her congrads. Finishing she walked to a den and lay down and fell asleep.

Early the next morning Shadow got up, trying not to disturb BlackFire and went out to the kill and got pieces of meat for the pups and BlackFire. Coming back she saw Kana sitting outside the den looking at the early morning son. Silently Shadow walked up beside him and sat down. "It's beautiful isn't it son?" she asked. "Yeah, it is. I can't wait till I'm old enough to run off to sit on the ridge and watch it rise over the forest", he answered, sighing. Shadow smiled and licked his ears.
