-In memory of our horses, Mackie (1994-2004) who was hit by a drunk driver on December 18, and Beaux (1998-2004) who died of cronic laminitis a few months before on Labor Day and dedicated to my other horse, Storm, who saw me through everything, all of which taught me that spirits never die-

BROKKENNE: RESURRECTED
Torn apart and thunderstruck,
Out of tears and out of luck,
Lost in a shadow I couldnt see,
With nothing but a shattered key.
I found I door without a rose*,
Just as well for it stayed closed.
Golden wings that could not fly,
Just as well for there was not a sky.
Then the answer came like wounded fire,
Stubborn, tenacious, would not tire.
Lifted me with strength strong and tested-
The song of Brokkenne: Resurrected.

I'm really sorry about you horses Nashoba. I know what it feels like to lose a loved pet. And for almost ten years, you've had them. You must have bonded with them alot. I also enjoyed your poem. it made me think real hard, about my like, and it made reflect on times in my life when i was lost, but something guided me. I hope for the best Nashoba. Condalence, Nashoba.

No problem Nahsoba. I'm gald i was able to make you feel better. And also, do you really have a horse ranch? I love horses. I've always wanted to ride one. I hope you will feel better.

No, I don't have a ranch- just own horses, but yes, they're at the house. My family has twenty acres, and their (the horses' ) pasture covers about... maybe 5 or so. We're thinking of having the second pasture fenced in someday when we breed my mare. I WISH I had a horse ranch, but that'll be a while! So far we've only had up to three at a time, well, four if you count when we kept my friend's foal at our place to help wean her.

Your Poem was beautiful. Sorry for Your Loss

Well, good luck to you Nahsoba! I hope that you will get that ranch. And it must be nice to have all that land, and those wide opened skies. I wish i lived on the prarie. Anyways, i hope you'll feel better.
And could you send me some pictures as to what your ranch looks like.

I have some pictures of the horses on my website, but be warned! It's just a goofy little GeoCities website, nothing special. But if you want to see it, here's the address:

No!!! It's not that bad of a website. it is actually better than what i usually see with Geocities users. And i love your horses, they are so beautiful. I espicailly love Balze. That black fur, and that white stripe, down the middle. She looks nice. Does she run fast? Or are these horses just for breeding? Well, i really like the way your ranch looks, and your horses look great. I wish i had a horse.
But anyways, good luck to you, and i hope you feel better.

I love Blaze, too, and yes, she's VERY fast. One of the fastest I know of, actually, which is pretty funny, because it's a common misconception that her breed (Tennessee Walker) isn't very fast. I'm going to put another picture of her up soon- she looks a lot better in the new one I just got developed.
I'm glad you liked the site, though!

Well i hope that you get more pictures of her in soon. I can't wait to see how fast she can run. And, do you ride these horses? if you do, you must teach me (well if you want). All my life i've wanted to ride a horse, but i never could find a ranch near where i live. Ohhh well.
Good luck to you and your horses, and i hope that you are feeling much better.
Wolfen~ is hungry. 78-110711749725 Feb 2005, 01:49 UTC
You really can't teach a person to ride a horse over the net. You have to have hands-on experience, but I'm sure there's gotta be a riding facility SOMEWHERE at least near your area. I hope you can find one, because I know what it's like to not be able to ride when you really, really want to. I'll try to get those pictures up there soon, but I can;t promise anything because lately my scanner had been very hungry and has been eating up parts of the pictures when I put them up. Anyway, good luck finding a riding place And yes, I am feeling better.

Thanks Nashoba. Right now i'm trying to find a horse ranch. I've found one, but i don't think that the person who owns the ranch is willing to teach me. Anyways, how long have you been riding? Does it take long to learn? I guess i will try to find a ranch. Yet agian thanks for the info, Nashoba. It really helped me out.

I've lost track of how long I've been riding. It really doesn't take long to learn the basics, but of course, you can always keep getting better. And it depends a lot on the horse, you know? Like some horses take a little more to work with and some are so easy to handle and calm that you could throw a stick of dynamite next to them and they might blink.

Yes, Nashoba I agree with you. I know that hosres are sometimes difficult to train with experience at the local animal shelter. I somtimes work at the animal shelter for community service hours. I would ask someone if I could ride the horses, but there seems no time for them to teach me. I also tried searching for ranch nearby, but there seems to be no one who is willing to teach. Anyways, thanks for telling me about horses' behaviors. It really helped me out.

Mackie and Beaux were the Greatest horses on the face of this planet. Beux was the most loyal, and Mackie was the most sweetest, in my mind. Many, many memories come to mind when I think of them. Sad to think that Blaze is the only remnant of the old herd. I miss the old herd more thatn I can ever put into words.
Happy Days, they were.

*Sighs*. Yes, I have to agree. Nothin' like the good ol' days! I kind of wish you could have been there with Beaux and everything (if you wanted to, that is) but I dunno... I just wish I could have been there for Mackie when he went (it certainly would have been easier than getting up in the morning to a dead horse you loved). Still though, we did everything we could for Beaux, and there was nothing at all to do for Mackie, so I know we tried our best.
