The Leaderless Fate
The cool, Alaskan wind stirred in the red husky's fur. He was cold and at the enterance of the boiler room. He was hearing voices inside about something. Something that was not meant to be. He trotted in and everyone in the room, fell silent.
Every dog on the Mail Team didn't say another word about that something. On dog, who was named Dusty, came up to the husky. She was tearing tears and left toward her home. The husky looked confused at the rest.
"What is going on?" The husky asked hoarshly.
"We don't know about Balto, Kodi." A husky named Kirby answered. Kodi stared outside, wondering what's going on with his hero, his own father. He ran to his mother, Jenna's house. He wondered if she knew anything. So, howled 'the call' and saw little movement.
Jenna, a red husky with a red bandana, ran toward Kodi. Her eyes were glassy-looking with cheeks wet from tears. She seemed to knew what happened.
"Mom... Where's Dad? He's usually at his boat but this time, he wasn't there..." Kodi started.
"Hush, Kodiak... Everyone saw Duke and Balto on the Balto Flyer... After a while, they were gone..." Jenna's voice was shaky and stern. She watched the bush place go out of view. She knew nothing else.
"But, do you thing he's okay?"
"We'll see in a few days... If he doesn't come, you are to the getting him..." Jenna's voice was becoming clear. She was certain that Balto was fine. But she didn't know if he was one hundred percent alright.
"I know he'll be alright..."
Kodi froze himself from saying anything more. He knew that more would mean something more. What is more to life then to just stay in one place?
Later, Kodi found himself at his father's boat. Two annoying polar bears named Muk and Luk were playing in the water near by. Boris was with his girlfriend, Stella.
Of course, Kodi had nothing to do with anyone. He had his father on his mind, hoping that he'll be okay. After a long day, Kodi laid under Balto's blanket. He fell asleep right away when he got comfortable. During his sleep, he kept hearing Muk, Luk, Boris and Stella. But, he seemed to get uncomfortable about something. Chapter 2: The Dream
Kodi was having a strange dream about something. He was having a peaceful dream about his brothers Dingo, Yukon, and his sisters Aleu, Denali, and Saba. All of a sudden, the dream cahnged into a vision. He was soaring in the air like an eagle in the sky.
The eagle was taking him somewhere he had never been before. He didn't have any idea why everything is changing to somewhere unconfortable. Finally, the eagle landed on a buried plane. It looked around for anything, but it couldn't find anything.
When something moved, the eagle spun around to see what moved. Finally, a wolf/dog hybrid showed up. He was panting for air. Kodi caught his father's coat. It wasn't clean and his eyes were a light red, almost an orange. But, then the vision faded.
Kodi woke up at sunrise. He got out of the blanket and stretched his body. Later, he found himself in town with his friends. Dusty was nuzzling him.
"... And then, there was a bang like thunder and my dream was gone." Kodi explained this story of his dream-vision.
" Is that all, Kodi? I've got scarier stories! Really scary to scare your fur off!" Ralph started.
"Shut up, Ralph... What Kodi says is true... Even if Balto is not injured, we should try to find him..." Dusty smply said.
"Yeah... How about that? Kodi is having these dreams and I'm not..." Kirby started but didn't finish. He hit a pole on his little speech.
"Very funny, Kirby..." Jenna came by and said. Dusty and Kodi turned their heads and smiled quickly.
"Hi, Mom... Would you believe me if I told you that I had a vision last night night?" Kodi asked his mother, out of the blue. Kirby got up and whined about his head.
"It depends if this vision is true or not."
"It was about me in a bird form and seeing where Dad and Duke crashed. I saw Dad but, it looked like was blind..." Kodi explained.
"But, it's very ture, Jenna..." Ralph said.
"Ralph..." Dusty and Kodi warned.
After a dya with his friends, Kodi went back to Balto's Boat. Boris was alone with him for a while.
"Hi, Kodi... Eh, what new?" Boris asked.
"Nothing..." Kodi replied as he looked at the falling sun.
"Something about Balto?"
"I guess you could say that ... No one expet Dusty believes in my dream..."
"Your girlfriend?"
"Not mine..."
"Oh, Kodi... You're reminding me of Balto when he didn't want anything to with his love..."
Stella flew in with some seeds. She perched herself on the bar. She watched the sunset with Kodi.
"My guess is that no one will help me, huh? I have watched so many falling of the suns with... Aleu?"
Aleu, Kodi's sister staggered her way to the boat. She got to the board and slowly went the way. She ran towards Kodi in anstonishment.
"Hi, Kodi... I saw Papa miles and miles away from here... If you want, I can lead you there!" Aleu shivered.
"Aleu... It's been two years..." Kodi started. He knew nothing more of Aleu.
Hours later, every member of the team and Aleu met in the boiler room. Kodi told the dream and Aleu translated it.
"Aniu, the white wolf has entrusted me to be your guide to find Balto. But she does not know why Kodi is entrusted with The Vision," Aleu said.
Through the night, Aleu and the team argued but all got all their thoughts into the conversation. The next morning, they will take the journey..... 78-110711749708 Feb 2005, 01:58 UTC

Thank you. I've been writing for 7-8 years counting on my 15th birthday in November. I have never gone out of writing. I'm still writing about my Baby-Part-Dog character and sometimes, a different and fun roleplay during 'Darkness Roleplay Time.' Story sounds good. Glad to hear you have not grown out of writing. I wrote my first Balto fic when I saw it when I was 11. Now I am 20 and still love to write!

(Yep.. This is my first Balto fanfic as well at 14!
Chapter 3: Run Away!
The next morning, Dusty woke up next to Kodi. She started to nuzzle with his muzzle to wake him. Kodi awoke in part-horror from his dream. He and Dusty walked out of the boiler room and in to the sweet, cool outdoors.
"Hey, Kodi... Do you want to be ahead of the group?" Dusty asked with sincerity in her voice.
"Sure..." Kodi answered. "But, I'm the leader..." He commmanded in a quiet tone.
Dusty sighed. She rolled her eyes and followed Kodi out of town. They kept an easy running pace. They entered through the tundra. Grass was prickling through the snow.
"My guess it's turning into spring soon," Kodi said as he watched some of the birds came back from the south. Dusty slowed down to his side, "Well, that means we can shed our heavy, long fur huh?" She nuzzled near him and licked his muzzle.
As they went along, Dusty would look back from the others. Kodi kept going and he saw a raven with a dead deer under it. He ran toward the animal and bird to see closer. Dusty trotted next to him and started to eat some of the meat. Kodi joined in as the raven flew to a tree branch, just above them.
"Kodi! Dusty!" Ralph and Kirby called. It has been a couple hours since Kodi and Dusty ran off. Aleu tried to catch their scent, but couldn't find any. The smell was mixed with other smells of different dogs.
"I can't pick up any scent of them..." Aleu admitted.
"Oh, no! Now, we might not find Kodi, now! I hope he and Dusty are alright..." Jenna whined.
After gorging the meat, both Kodi and Dusty trotted to the tree to see the raven. Kodi met its eye and saw a brown eye like his fathers. He was confused at first, but then he caught a small white fur strand near the ravens' eye. He and Dusty turned away. The raven crowned and transformed into a white wolf.
"Kodiak..." Called the white wolf.
Kodi turned around and saw the wolf. He wagged his tail very little. He was shocked taht she knew him.
"You know me?" He asked in confusion.
"Of course, you are my grandson... I have been called by your father..." The wolf answered. "Your father is waiting upon your arrival. Come... We must go..."
Dusty padded next to Kodi. She crept under him and flipped him off. Kodi went to his side but made no whine of pain. "Where exactly is Balto?" She asked, grimly.
"He is miles off the original course..." The white wolf answered. "If you call me by name, it's Aniu... Alright?"
"Okay, Aniu..." Kodi called back to her. He ran to the open. Aniu turned to her raven body and flew along him. Dusty ran next them to catch up. She was a little slower than Kodi.
Later, at night, the dogs and raven stopped to rest for the night. The raven perched on a branch above them. Dusty relaxed near Kodi for warmth. Kodi put his head on her side and stayed with her for protection. He fell asleep and had a simple dream... A dream of the future... 74-108043194711 Feb 2005, 06:24 UTC
