So, which one's Dingo?

Pondering character designs...

Hello :)

A comment by Silver Huskey in the Balto 3 thread got me thinking...if it is about one of Balto's pups, it could be potentially about one of the ones in Aleu's litter.  To my question: which one is the male pup, who has a name (Dingo)?  Is there any scene where you can hear the voice (I haven't watched the movie in a while) or in any shot where any distinction can be made?

The reason I ask this is I'm sorta playing around with a potential character design for fun...not that it's a big deal, but I'm just wondering if anyone had an answer to this.

Thanks :D!

I believe the male pup is the one who asks Balto, "Papa, are you gonna get a human, too?" to which Balto replies, "Nah.  See, humans like cute little puppies like you, not old grizzly grown ups like me".  As Balto says this, he rubs the pup's head, and we see his face.  I think that one's Dingo...

You see him right there.  He's the one being petted with closed eyes. ;)

At least I now know wich one he is. They all look so cute. :)
Hello :)

Ah, thanks so much :D!  I really appreciate the help...*runs off to draw*.  I never could figure out which one was which...

So who was the pup that asked Balto if he was going to get a human? That pup sounded like a boy...*confusion*

EDIT: I just checked the WQ DVD, and Dingo is the first puppy to be adopted.  A little boy says, "These are Rosy's puppies, Daddy, Jenna had em."  I like...this one!"  The puppy he picks up looks almost exactly like Jenna.  Right after the boy takes him, Jenna says, "I know that human!  He'll be a good boy for Dingo."

I didn't like that scene.. it was wierd to say the least.
i say i'll have to agree with fluke there,my fav sence in balto 2 was where the wolves crossed the ice, poor nava tho i kinda feel sorry 4 him lol
Oh,so he's the one! That scene wasn't all too bad.The pups were cute albeit the fact that they all look like Jenna clones, and you have the song rolling in the BG *somebody wants you, somebody needs you* That song got stuck in my head for quite some time...

Aniu>???So which is Dingo?!

AWOL>At least he has Niju for company:)

Oh, if you draw Dingo, be sure to share him with us. ;)

I just didn't like the fact that all of the dogs were Jenna Clones.  I mean Aleu had the best character design out of all them.

Hello :)

I will...I have it done, but I just haven't posted a thread yet ;).

I agree, I didn't like how each pup was a Jenna clone either.  At least give them different fur colors...or at least another one of the pups should have at least looked somewhat like Aleu...

But anyway...

I do see something new in the artwork forum... *goes off to check.* ^_^
actually , that isn't dingo in Silver's pic .. the "masked" pup is still in the box when Dingo is taken ..

look again when the girl says she'll take this one.. that's not he masked pup .. the masked pup is still in the crate when the song begins..
That's true, Starlioness.  The pup named Dingo is one of the generic Jenna clones.  If he's in "Balto III", I hope he at least has a different eye color than Jenna, because it would be creepy seeing Jenna standing beside a male version of herself...
I think the pup asks Balto about getting a Human has blue eyes.. and another "Jenna" pup has a darker red fur color than the other pups..
No, i'm certain that the masked pup was Dingo, and he was the one who asked if Balto was getting a human. ^^;
Dingo is female because SHE is voiced by Nicolette Little. So if voiced by a girl dont u think shes a girl. And she was the one that asked if balto was going to get a human.
Then I guess Max Goof is female, too, because SHE was voiced by Dana Hill, the same voice actress who portrayed a young Princess Sally in one of the Sonic animated serieses?  :p

When a character is young, it doesn't really matter if they have a male or a female voice, it just matters if they're older.

The same thing happens in video games.  Nall, the cute little critter from the Lunar series, is a male voiced by a female (Jackie Powers... heh, Nall's my favourite character).

Thus, Dingo is a male character voiced by a female.
Male Ash Ketchum in the Pokemon cartoon is voiced by the female Veronica Taylor. As CW said, it's a common practice.
Bart Simpson is a well known example to use too, Nancy Cartwright auditioned for Lisa and ended up doing Bart's voice lol
Also, in some anime (in most cases not dubbed), female actors will play the voice of Adult Males.

Trying to prove a character's gender through the gender of their VA is a terrible method.  As you can see from above, it really doesn't mean anything.
and Jimmy Neutron had a girl voice actor too ;)

I'm guessing they use girls to do young Boys voices is because their voices change faster . but that's just a thought.
Makes sense.  Compared to a young guy, a woman's voice will remain the same for years.
Dingo is a guy. In WQ, he did not look feminine at all. I could tell wich pups were male and which were female. The had smaller, less thick eyebrows, they were thinner, not as fat, cubby, or stalky, and they had dark black eyelashes. Dingo had thick eybrows, a chubbier bodystyle, and no eyelashes.

If you don't believe me, watch that scene in Wolf Quest more carefully. :;):
On the credits it says that one of Balto's Pup's name is Saba.
???
And what of it?
Oh Silver, you are always so *shrude* LOL... But yeah, Saba... something something...I don't really remember the pups having names except *Dingo*, so I'm not positive why the credits would have given them names. Same as the thread a while back that was going on about the horses names in *Spirit*..I watched it the other day and there was never a mention in the narration of any names at all except for Rain, and Spirit, both names given to the horses by the human character. Perhaps some of the names people "think" belong to characters are taken from fanfics...*shrugs*
You just couldn't resist, could you Vesta?

It does seem kinda weird but it is very normal. When you first think about it doesn't make sense, but, when it comes to young characters, it isn't just about gender. It is more about finding a voice that fits the personality. Ash Ketchum, for instance, is mostly a clueless crybaby, and Veronica Taylor fits that mold.
Pheer my shrudeness for I am a polly pure bread! XD

It could be, but at the same time it still feels pointless to list a character's name if it wasn't said in the movie. That's just my opinion though. And I also feel Ash is whiney, but can handle himself quite well when he needs to. :p
I agree, it is silly to give something a name when it was never used. Makes no sense at all. And HEY *I* am Polly Pure Bread *cries*
Dingo's the one that got picked up... NOT the one that Balto rubs his paw the pup's head.......Dingo the first one that got a human... The pup that got rubbed on still had his head up and you can see it!  ..... Don't mind me ::)    :O

???

I guess Saba was the "other pup that talks" . . .  one of the minor ones like Dingo . . .  I'm not sure which one it is though . . . .
If anyone can find him/her in the movie and the line(s) that Saba says, that would be nice to know!
That doesn't seem right . . . Why name a character whose name is never mentioned except in the end credits? Especially when the character only speaks at least once?

One quick question: What were the names of the other three pups, since three are known (Aleu (obvious), Dingo(one of the Jenna-clones . . . which one is it again?), Saba (where are you???). . . . what idiot named the husky pups that??? Baka . . .)???

~just.a.simple.thought.
I don't know any other pups names... Seriously, they need to speak their names when they can in the movie.
Agreed . . .  very much so . . .  .
Thank goodness that the little annoying dog didn't have a name! I would have named him "Yappy" . . . .lol . .
