I have only seen the first 5 minutes so far it looks good.. really good.. I go watch now..excited. More to come.. you saw it here first from the Ice Cave Servers don't use on your own sites.. gotta go
*edit*
OK I am officially impressed and pleasently surprised, so far.. 10 minutes in.. human characters from the original have made a return (back ground faces you should recognise), everything has been drawn in a closer style to the original in the way it not only looks, but moves too. The scripting seems better than WQ and the acting is a lot better!\n\n

Wow, it does look great. Hope you enjoy the rest of the movie ^_^

Hey, Fluke? I hate to ask this to be rude but, what country do you live in? Because, now I want to see it! Everyone is making me very very impatient.
70-106196059216 Oct 2004, 19:45 UTC
I am in England
80-107376962116 Oct 2004, 20:06 UTC
Wow, looks good, and from what you say, it should be closer linked to the first.:) You are lucky to already have it despite being in UK. I hope it officially comes out here soon! >.<
74-108043194716 Oct 2004, 20:39 UTC
Hey, Fluke:
Thanks for the screenies! I think you should make a "private" Balto 3 gallery (without spoiling anything if you want) for us die-hard fans. You don't have to, though; it's just an idea.
I'm glad that you like it. It seemed to me that WoC was going to be much better than WQ, but still live up to the original. Comparing to what I see, WoC has the artwork of the original and the same beauty that inspires us to watch and enjoy the movie.
. . . . nuff said . . .
Note: I have not seen the movie yet. I just know a lot about it via Babelfish translations . . . .
87-106196078716 Oct 2004, 21:33 UTC
Wow, sounds really good! Can't wait to hear the good and bad of it! Thanks for sharing the screengrabs too!
65-106294487016 Oct 2004, 22:44 UTC
whoa.. Me need Balto 3.. NOW.. dammit.
Hey fluke, why dont invite all IB-member to your placeand watch it?
83-106196071616 Oct 2004, 23:32 UTC
Wow, those images look good. I really love the backgrounds and the return to the old style. I had a good feeling about this movie (after seeing the trailer), and it seems it paid off. I'm looking forward to that review, and to whenever Universal decides to release it here. I'll make sure to have the money on hand.
98-109132677017 Oct 2004, 03:19 UTC
Wow. I'd have to agree: the old style of animation was much better than the new style, and the fact that Universal used it for B3 makes me want it more! Thanks for the screenshots!
74-108043194717 Oct 2004, 03:48 UTC
At least the Balto sequels look more like the original (in a way) and are not like the LBT series . . . . . . (the art style changes, doesn't look like the original . . . etc.)
76-106254582317 Oct 2004, 04:04 UTC
Damn..sounds quite impressive and looks amazing so far..thanks for the screenies also..now we just have to wait for whenever the hell universal plans on releasing it here...whitch I'm quite sure will take forever...
83-108302525617 Oct 2004, 08:19 UTC

Everyone is very welcome, I will share more later or tomorrow.. all will be free from spoilers. I probably won't even show the new characters... just Balto, Jenna etc. I am about half way through with my review but it does contain spoilers... not for the faint of heart.

Well, I'm glad to here that Balto 3 is good, like Silver Wolf and I have said that "3rd movies seem to be good"
I can't wait to see it myself

Hi! I'm David W. King, Associate Producer of Balto 2: Wolf Quest (WQ) and Balto - Wings of Change (WoC). I just joined the Icy Boards today and am excited about seeing the first feedback on Wings of Change. I read Acanis' Oct 16th posts at TBL -- the ones where he was watching the DVD while posting. His Icy Boards link sent me here. Anyway, I'm glad people (at least overseas! ) are finally beginning to get the opportunity to see Wings of Change. Now that the film is in official release, I'm more comfortable participating in discussions about it. (I'll refrain from saying much at TBL for the time being, as I do not wish to reveal spoilers for those who wish to wait and see the picture.)
I also heard directly from my friend Acanis yesterday. He was very enthusiastic about WoC, which came as welcome news to me. I love the film, but I'm entirely unqualified to view it objectively. So, finally having the opportunity to see a true Balto lover express excitement about the picture means a lot. I was able to screen the movie for another TBL member who visited me and my family here in CA over the summer. That, too, was a lot of fun.
I look forward to visiting the Icy Boards regularly to learn what you think of the film as it becomes available for you to watch. I know there are a lot of strong opinions about all kinds of original and sequel-related topics. I'll try and take all valid comments in stride. In one Balto chat, I was essentially accused of disrespecting Balto and exploiting him for profit. Wow. Fact is, I loved the Balto feature and counted it a privilege to work on both sequels. In June, I even visited the Balto statue in New York's Central Park and made a point of having my photo taken with it and with a Smithsonian Air and Science Museum bush plane upon which we based our WoC plane. Point being, in addition to being a filmmaker, I'm a true Balto fan. That does not mean I liked all aspects of either. But, I can say I like WoC much more than I like WQ. It's because Wings of Change gets back to the heart, scope and feel of the feature in many ways. It's just a much more satisfying film IMO.
Well, that's quite enough for now. Looking forward to more visits.
Best, dwk

Wow, DWK on the Icy Boards! I always wondered when you would find this place
Concerning the movie, I've seen (and found...) enough things about it to think that it's great; I believe that it will make everyone forget about Wolf Quest. In fact, I've already seen a minute of the film (don't ask me how! ) , and I was totally pleased with what I saw, and especially what I heared. The music in that passage was really beautiful, and I've listened to this music at least a hundred times since then lol
Give a thanks to Adam Berry!
The animation was also far better than what we can see in the trailer. I would say it looks even better than some passages in the original, especially because the colors are wonderful.
I've ordered it, and will probably make a complete review (without spoilers, of course...) when I'll receive it.
I'm glad you're here, it's an honor to talk to you
70-106196059217 Oct 2004, 17:05 UTC
Hey DW (Acanis here, I go by this name at TIB) welcome to the boards! It is good to see you here, I am going to have a second screening of WoC tonight (in wiiiiiiiide screen!
with a friend who is also looking forward to seeing it (as I have pushed Balto on him since 1995 he has learned to enjoy it!
. He also brings gifts in the form of photos he took of Balto in Cleveland. He said as I knew he was in Cleveland, if he did not return with these photos he would fear for his safety. Now that is friendship.. anyway:
Anyway my review is about 3/4 complete now and I am trying to be as critical as possible. There are bad points in it but they are out weighed by good points. After all there are bad points about the first one too.
Anyway nice to see you here\n\n
83-106196074117 Oct 2004, 17:17 UTC

oh yesm the animation is better.. and the scenerey is awesome!
I hope it comes to the U.S soon!
ahh fluke gets all the breaks
.. *dreams of seeing WOC in Wide-screen * *sigh*..
I wan't a Kodi plushie! 74-108043194717 Oct 2004, 21:00 UTC
Welcome, dwk!
I think everyone here is eager to see WoC (especially us in the US! ) and are proud that it is pretty much staying true to the original film. WQ was good too, but I have a big hunch that WoC is a much needed improvement for the Balto series (even though I think most sequels should never be made, Balto is one of those that I would consider for sequels). It would have been nice to have WQ to be as strong as the original (like WoC seems to be IMO), but it was an okay transition from the original film. Either way, excellent job! You must be very proud of yourself and your team!
I agree, Starlioness: I want a Kodi plushie too! (Maybe if I can see Kodi screenies, I could make one with my l33t artistic skillz)
Again, welcome aboard the Balto bandwagon! w00t!
~Juuchan17 82-106196068717 Oct 2004, 23:05 UTC
Fluke, thanks for the screen shots. They look so great over the computer that I can hardly wait to see WoC on my television. You were chalking up the word count yesterday, so I know this review of yours is going to be thorough and in depth. I think I will wait and watch the film first before reading it.
DW, welcome to TIB. It was a pleasure to read your post. I actually didn't think WQ was that bad. It's true it was not as good as Balto, but it did have some good things about it. I thought it was nice to see his and Jenna's pups. I'm looking forward to seeing WoC and hope it will be released in Canada soon. (It will make a nice gift for CW Tyger.)
100-109802606618 Oct 2004, 05:46 UTC
Thanks for the warm welcomes Streetboris, Fluke, Starlioiness, Juuchan17 and Radar! I really enjoyed reading all of your comments. I also had the privilege of reading Fluke's first draft WoC review today! Wowzers, it's great to finally be hearing what others think of this film I finished working on way back in April. I think Fluke's review is excellent in just about every way. I also find that I agree with most of his opinions, which is a nice bonus.
I noticed you live in Seattle, Starlioness. We were up there recording the WoC score last March. We recorded in the Bastyre University chapel, a perfect venue for Adam Berry's big orchestral score. (We recorded the WQ score at Studio X in downtown Seattle.)
Thanks again for the nice welcomes.
Best,
dwk

oh yeah, Fluke is definitley a Balto guru
*still waits with anticiaption*..
Fluke has more Balto stuff than Bill Gates has money ...
ahh yes, Bastyr University.. I heard about that school. but I thought it was in SE Washington or something .. meh, anyway I sorta live close over there.. let me show you.
http://www.bastyr.edu/about/map.asp
now, if you look to the left of the map, you'll notice there's an Exit 175 and 177, inbetween that is Exit 176 the 175th street exit.. if you take a right on 175th and go east about 12 blocks and take a right on 12th ave NE that's where I live . give or take few blocks .. I actually live on 173rd street but there's no street sign for 173rd so I'm inbetween 175th and 170th street and 12th ave NE... so anyway I'm just across the lake sorta .*shrugs* ..
maybe if your'e by there sometime you can see me
.
yeah, studios are hard to come by in the area .. Studios A-V are always in high demand..not sure about Y and Z though ..
..
hey, if you see Adam , tell him I said hi
. I'm a flute,Piano, Bass, Saxophone , Violin ,player myself .
I always thought it would be so awesome to play in an orchestra for an animated film... I always loved the scores for Animated flims.. like Lion King, Dinosuar, Mulan, and of course Balto .that's what I wanted when I got of out college.. I have a degree in performing music.. I have what they call a prof-techincal degree. I guess it's supposed to help prepare for music in the outside world.
here's a link that might explain it better. http://www.shore.ctc.edu/shoreline/musicper.html (scroll down to performance option)
so anyway, that's my musical experience, besides collecting various CD's and soundtracks..
Don't worry David, I 'm not asking you for a job, just giving background info

Hi, DWK, and welcome! I'm sure you know me, from TBL and e-mails.
BTW, Fluke, out of curiosity, how can you watch the film in widescreen, if the movie itself is pan and scan? Oh, and great pics! I have enough patience to not go crazy over them. I don't want to be driven insane like I was before WQ came out
70-106196059219 Oct 2004, 07:11 UTC
Umm because the movie is in widescreen and I have a wide screen tv
65-106196054219 Oct 2004, 07:27 UTC
B3 is widescreen, as in theater-like format with black bars at the top and bottom? Why did Universal do that? WQ isn't widescreen, and the only widescreen DTV's I've ever seen are from Disney(thus, higher budget). 95% of my DVDs are widescreen. Anamorphic widescreen, no less. I'm preparing for the time when all televisions will be widescreen, and I'd hate to be watching a pan and scan disc, with gray bars at the sides.
Did Universal have more money for this film, and so gave it an aspect ratio greater than 1:33:1? It seems weird that all of those LBT sequels would be pan and scan, as well as WQ, then suddenly they'd release a widescreen DTV. Are they getting Disney-ish?
I love the widescreen format, and prefer it to pan and scan.
EDIT: I just looked up WoC on the German Amazon site, and found the aspect ratio to be 4:3, which is equal to 1:33:1. This is the aspect ratio of a standard, square TV, which isn't widescreen. In order for the movie to be widescreen, it'd have to be 1:66:1, or more. I assume that Universal doesn't make it's DTVs widescreen because it doesn't have the money.
It seems like WoC would either have gray bars at the sides, or be squashed, since your television is widescreen, and not square, like the film's aspect ratio. 65-107815589719 Oct 2004, 12:45 UTC
O_O!!!
*gags and dies* OMFG!!! WoC looks absolutely awesome!! Incredible!!!!!! Geez...it really needs to come out here in the US!!! hehe....those screen shots look wonderful...a magnificant improvement ofver WQ, that is most definately for certain! Oh yeah oh yeah....hehe....now I am going hyper cuz I wanna see it so much!!
Hehe...thank you for the screens, Fluke!! Awesome!!
whoa, whoa, whoa....you're telling me that WoC is in Widescreen!? OMG that is wonderful!! It's about time! heh...I think they REALLY need to put the others in wide...on DVD, that is...unless it already is and I do not know it yet...
Ahem....welcome to TIB, DWK!!! How awesome...hehe...great to have ya here!! I look forward to seeing ya around the boards!!
((heh....dang....i need more time to come here....><!! ))
Edit: Hey, Fluke...do ya mind if I link your screen shots to the Wolf message board? I mean, I know that myn there would like to see them, but I don't wanna link to your site without your permission....thanks! ^___^ 115-108568278519 Oct 2004, 16:55 UTC
WOC is in 4/3, no widescreen, like Wolf Quest. It would have been even better in widescreen by the way, and I don't really understand why the DTV sequels are usually not in 16/9, because it always give a much better feeling, and I don't think it would be more difficult to make them. This doesn't prevent it from being really impressive
And if you didn't know yet, the original Balto was released in 4/3 in the USA, but in 16/9 (widescreen) in all the other countries (including France...so I've always watched Balto in widescreen, go check the Balto 1 gallery on my site if you want the proof)
I still hasn't received the DVD, but from what I've seen so far, the musics are even better than the animation : the soundtrack is SOOOOOOO Beautiful !!!! 70-106196059219 Oct 2004, 17:33 UTC
woah Aniu chill out there lovey, I made a mistake and missread the DVD box (it is in German afterall!
. It still played fine on my widescreen tv though with no black bits and looked great.
Aneiryu please link to my site http://fluke.theicecave.org rather than a single page from it. I'd appreciate that.
Steet we have Balto in widescreen here too and it definately rocks, especially with surround sound
65-107815589719 Oct 2004, 20:33 UTC
Alrighty, thanks, Fluke.
Balto is in 4/3? That is interesting...is it something new? Cuz I have only seen the normal version on Amazon.com or whatever....but I will go and look for it..:) 65-106196054219 Oct 2004, 21:40 UTC

Arg, did it sound like I was spazzing? LOL, I didn't intend it to...I've just been a DVD freak for so long, I always tend to correct people on aspect ratios
.
And, yep, the U.S. DVD of Balto is 4:3, but luckily I have the German disc, widescreen and everything, and a working documentary
(which can be watched in English, as can the movie).
Aneiryu, if you're curious as to how the discs differ, you can go here: Widescreen Vindication
Is it just me, or are the forums moving a bit slow again? This happened to me yesterday, too. Maybe it's my computer. *taps the monitor*83-108302525620 Oct 2004, 03:53 UTC
It's not just YouAniu 1983 the boards are moving slower for Me too. Thoug not as bad as the last time
115-108568278521 Oct 2004, 13:56 UTC
Yipeeee, I've received Balto 3 today!!! And I have already watched it once
I really don't know how to start, but I'll make my own review of it soon...
My feelings about it? Strange!!! Yes, strange. Even if I did found so many information on it, and I did know many things about it, I have to agree with Snow Wolf's opinion : it has a really different feeling compared to the original Balto or Wolf Quest. I would even say, that I've never seen an animated movie that had the same feeling (...to think of it, there might be All dogs go to Heaven, for several scenes
). I'm not saying that in a good or bad way, it's just that I was really suprised. But, you'll see in my review. I'm going to watch it several times more before making the review
83-108302525622 Oct 2004, 01:46 UTC
Good for You steetboris
I'm glad You got It
I'll be sure to read Your review also.(If no spoilers are contaned there in that is) 98-109132677022 Oct 2004, 03:48 UTC

115-108568278522 Oct 2004, 17:54 UTC
He got the german version, like me
There are four languages on the DVD, including english. 70-106196059222 Oct 2004, 18:17 UTC
Yeah I ordered it from Germany and it has an English soundtrack. It is region 2 so it worked fine for me
79-109362624024 Oct 2004, 00:18 UTC
i was thinking of ordering it from another country, like australia, but i read that it only works on australian vcrs / dvd players. must be the way the water swirls, it goes for theire media players too.
(not making fun to any ausie fans on here)
