What was your favorite scene in Balto 2?
I'd say my favorite scene was just before and during the crossing of the ice bridge. ;)
83-106196070912 Mar 2002, 20:35 UTC
Fav. scene ish.. Either the one where Balto turns around to see where the raven was there was now his mother, Iniju (spelling..), or the scene with the wolverines.

I can do good impressions of them.

My favourite? Well, I haven't watched it enough to know what my absolute favourite scene is (I've seen it a total of three times, and last night I was also eating chicken while watching it), but I'd have to say that any scene where Aleu was looking right in the direction of the "camera". Those immediately grabbed my attention. Aleu!

Hum, My favourite scene well I don't have one I loved the whole thing except for the little Terrier dog. But if I was to pick one I would say, I don't know.

The scenes when balto was dreaming were very good.
Also the scenes with the puppies were good.
But i guess i would probably pick when balto finds out at the end who his mother is.
106-106196082513 Mar 2002, 22:05 UTC
Well, really I would agree with mrbaltodog it was cool to find out who his mother was and even cooler that she was a white wolf.

Ravid's Favorite Scene: When Aleu got trapped under the ice, and finally surfaced. + When Aleu was in the cave with Maru. ^-^V The cave was cool.
106-106196082514 Mar 2002, 00:36 UTC
Ya that was a cool scene too. I mainly liked the song in that scene but the cave was cool.

My favorite scene? Basically at the end of the adoption sequence, when Balto declares that no one will ever adopt Aleu... the lighting and layout of the scene was beautiful (I'm such a sunset person, lol), and the music was deeply moving... probably Adam Berry's best part of the score for the entire film. ^_^ Go Adam!

I know what my favourite scene was. The adoption scene, when all the pups are in the box, waiting to be chosen. Not only is it cute, but it shows a lot of hope for the future.
75-106196062926 Mar 2002, 23:13 UTC
I like the caaaaave scene! It was so...special-effecty. {Is that even a word?}
67-106196056227 Mar 2002, 00:33 UTC
It is now.

Yeah, the cave was cool. Lots of Aleu!
83-106196071627 Mar 2002, 16:31 UTC
LOL!
80-106196068205 Apr 2002, 07:53 UTC
The cave scene and the song are great thats in Balto2 thats a big reason why I want them to release a Balto2 cd!
66-106196055906 Apr 2002, 16:59 UTC
The "who you really are" Song I like a the colors and designs. and i like the song!
83-106196074106 Apr 2002, 20:19 UTC
the colors! the colors! :lol yea, I thought that scene was pretty cool. I also liked the final dream sequence , the music in there is creepy! :eek
67-106196056102 May 2002, 05:39 UTC
I like the part when Balto's mom describe the totems that will guide him
87-106196077604 May 2002, 23:41 UTC
My favourite scene(s) Were Balto's dreams. Pretty cool.

83-106196072304 May 2002, 23:43 UTC
There were so many scenes to choose from! I have lots of favorites.
But one that really stands out in my mind...Aleu is on an ice block and Niju is about to finish her off, when suddenly Balto appears over the side. Aleu is horrified: "You should be with the rest of the clan! You've got to lead them across!" He snarls "I will... Once I take care of *him*." Behind them, the wolf pack starts howling from their insecurity and fright.
That's powerful stuff.
83-106196074105 May 2002, 06:55 UTC
yay Snow wolf!. yeah. I would feel screwed if my Pack leader, and Ballto and Aleu weren't there. I wonder what would happen if Nijou went with the pack? hmm... and could Nava really make it across?
67-106196056105 May 2002, 12:05 UTC
another scene which i like is the one when Muru was singing who are you
83-106196071605 May 2002, 17:03 UTC
That's another one of my favorite scenes. ^_^ And who could forget Balto and Aleu's goodbye scene? It was so touching. "Tell mom, I finally found my home."
70-106196059205 May 2002, 17:27 UTC
ooh when balto nuzzles aleu....that was great animation. when i get the dvd, thats the first thing ill draw i think

98-106196080312 Aug 2002, 21:20 UTC
I would say when Aniu howled and vanished.

83-106196074613 Aug 2002, 02:24 UTC
I'd have to say when Aleu runs out to the rock that extends over the ocean for the first time. When she stands at the edge, the wind in her fur and the wave washing over in the background. That probably is the closest to the Balto I animation the sequel gets in my opinion, aside from the close-up of Balto snarling and pouncing on the hunter..
90-106196079715 Aug 2002, 11:40 UTC
My favourite scene was when Aleu became the leader of the pack and when they howled goodbye. I almost fell a tear. It really touched my heart... I also liked the scene when balto met his mother Aniu.
80-106196068301 Sep 2002, 16:07 UTC
My fav seen is who you really are cause the color is awsome!
75-106196063506 Sep 2002, 07:43 UTC
I like the one when Aleu stands at the edge of the rock over the water and the waves splashing next to her, and the cave scene was awesome too. And the time when she says goodbye to Balto, and her own dream visions...whooo, they're the ones i liked most!
Sorry for sidetracking off the thread but I wanna add something in contrast to the topic. But have you guys noticed that when as the pack of ice with the howling wolves (plus Aleu) moves away into the mist, they looked too big for Balto's POV? I don't know, but that particular scene somehow looks a bit silly to me. Just my op, anyway. No harm intended...
84-106196075728 Oct 2002, 00:54 UTC
My fav. scene would have to be when Aleu howls good-bye to Balto. I also like it when he says "Aniu, your my .... Good-bye to you too, mother."
75-106196063028 Oct 2002, 07:06 UTC
I just love the "I'll always be your baby part.."
It feels so warm especially when they get really intimate.
*gets dreamy*

i like the who u really r bit and the crossing of the ice and i like the bit where nava gose into the tree.
70-106196059219 Nov 2002, 17:58 UTC
i hate that tree bit, its really silly "i became one with the tree" ugh its worse than the howling mouse...no wait it isnt lol.
78-106196066519 Nov 2002, 22:31 UTC
I remember both those parts (howling mouse and the tree melding). The later reminds me of the history animation with the druids where the leader sort of did strange things with the trees. In the end, however, tree hugging didn't go over well with the Romans and they had a stomp fest (always an opportunity for some history). Concerning the sequel film, I really liked some of the closeup scenes. One of the tops is the scene where Balto woke up suddenly from the dream. It combined great facial expressions with some of the highest quality animation and backgrounds of the sequel.

Now that you mention it,Nex,Balto in the sequel had a much more expressive face, wouldn't you agree?Though it did make him look weird...

Think its the first time you see Niju..
Hes so.. murr..yay!..
65-106196054207 Jan 2003, 02:15 UTC
My absolute favorite scene is the final one when Balto meets Aniu. It gave me chills. The sunset in that scene is so beautiful.
In that scene, when Balto turns to look at her, right before we see her close up, she looks so darned much like the WW of the original that it's hard for me to believe that she's anything but. Has anyone else noticed this?
Another favorite is the cave scene. I love all the colors.
However, I think the movie would have been much better without all the Native American spirituality, and the songs. With these elements, it just isn't "Balto".
75-106196063007 Jan 2003, 04:37 UTC
That's true. Watching Balto 2,it somehow seems like another movie. If Balto wasn't in there,I wouldn't believe it was a Balto movie.
75-106196063508 Jan 2003, 03:57 UTC
True. Perhaps it's because WQ was targeted more on Aleu; Balto was there because well...because it's a sequel? But honestly he's the cash cow: we won't be seeing that movie if Balto's not in there.
I don't know, but somehow the scenes in WQ keep getting better and better. I watched WQ quite a while ago, and I noticed that the more I watch, the more i noticed how beautiful they are. Maybe it's the beauty of CG..yeah, that's gotta be it
86-106196076610 Jan 2003, 21:07 UTC
Hm, One thing is kinda.. Weird..
Under "the grand design" song.. when Niju stars singing.. he drops a bone..
Some wolves jumps after it, and the next second theres a HUGE pile of wolves...
Where did all come from? :P
78-106196066510 Jan 2003, 23:19 UTC
Good observation, Aniul... Wolf Quest really was vastly different than the original and does not capture the same flavor for me either. I think this could be a good thing, as the original was so terrific - to try and improve upon it might have been a futile and ultimately damaging effort. I kind of like the fact that they detracted from a direct focus on Balto and developed a new character. To me, this sort of preserves the integrity of the original film.
As for the spirituality bit, I was pleased to see a heavy and mostly accurate emphasis on Alaskan native customs and traditions. I always like things with educational value and this was little exception. I think Kylewulf has a good logic behind the difference in style: that the sequel focuses away from Balto and more on Aleu.

LOL gotta love the passion Ag has when he speaks of WQ..the fire, the animation...the pure and bitter hatred. I didn't have a favorite scene either..the story line was far too weak to choose one scene to point at and say yes, that was good...

Wow...that says a lot. In only a few words, too! Amazing!
In WQ, I suppose that my favorite scene would be...I have no freakin' clue!
