OH GOD!!!
If they make Balto III I am going to BURN everything that I own regarding Balto, huskies, and wolves, and then take my swords into the woods and give myself a proper samurai's death (ceremonial suicide and everything).
The sequel was.... ok. But number 3? *head explodes*

o_O........are you sure?

67-106196056227 Jun 2002, 12:39 UTC
Well, anything's a possibility.
67-106196056127 Jun 2002, 12:59 UTC
hmmm.......maybe you're right. Anyway, we are all hoping for another Balto movie

67-106196056227 Jun 2002, 13:10 UTC
Not all of us, it seems.

27 Jun 2002, 14:19 UTC
Well you'd have to see it from my point of view. Balto changed my life. It's very special to me and I even feel a very close bond to Balto himself (although he's dead).
I spent 4 years of my life writing a sequel to Balto, with the fantasy in mind of having it published someday.
And to have Balto II come out and smash all my dreams on a rock, it kind of made my faith in Balto falter a little. I don't want to think what would happen if they made Balto III... what if they go the way of Land Before Time?
Balto 4.....5.....6....7....8...9......10....
NO NO NO! No more Balto sequels!

If Balto III were a prequel, I'd like it, but if they start coming up with Balto 4, 5, 6, etc. I'd sue Universal. Balto's a good movie, and they'd better not ruin it. *Thinks about a bunch of Balto movies filled with kindergarten philosophy and shudders* I don't ever want to think that again.

i see where your coming from cyber...balto means the same to me as im sure it does to many ppl. i do not want to see another movie...i think i was first in saying a prequel would be a better idea if they HAVE to make a movie...then they could get away with different voices etc due to balto needing a younger voice. i dunno...i love the original but like ppl have said before...now there is a land before time 666 i dont even ever wanna watch the original again... i dont want that happening to Balto ggrrs

It's easy to apply stock market knowledge to films and their sequels. What's the ingredient for success 100% of the time in any venture:
innovation. If it's fresh and able to keep past legends alive and well - then it's going to be a success. Unfortunately, too many corporations and film production companies fall into the "big bad budget" (3B) pit and never escape. When this happens - innovation dies and any ventures are almost definitely going to be marginal neutrals at best. What do we need to do justice for any Balto sequel? Big budget, tons of publicity, and perhaps even a new film corp. Universal is great, but unless they want to commit some risk into sequels, they just better dig a grave and bury their 3B countin' heads.
For classics, new life in a film can be had by simply publicizing special release products (including a package deal with the DVD + sound-track would be awesome!). I have some great ideas beyond this, but that'd be telling, and I'm not fixing to have to call up my legal team to bash heads with Universal.
I really would love to see more Balto films - but only if the budget is expansive, voice talent is comparable to the original, storyline meshes well with the original and is innovative, and the overall work is done to a masterpiece level of perfection. No more low budget cuts to bolster end of the year profits! Screw the 3B's and let's talk real finance or just get out.
On the radical side... I've studied the entire Copyright Law of the United States and I have a plan for a hostile corporate take-over concerning certain characters. Essentially, Balto could become property of the fans and not Universal! LOL. ;) Long live the loop-holes of demo-republic governments.
Here's wishing for a Balto sequel that is true to the original, innovative, well done, and having a healthy budget to work with.

Yet again, it could be a spam mail...
67-106196056228 Jun 2002, 05:28 UTC
Or the E-mail might not exist, and Moore is just making it up. After all, why would Universal themselves E-mail anyone saying that they were making a sequel to a sequel? I don't dispute that there's a Balto III being considered. I just don't think that there would be E-mail advertising about it this early.
Besides, it would take a couple years anyway.
67-106196056128 Jun 2002, 12:45 UTC
hmm.....maybe other ppl sent him the fake info....
84-106196075629 Jun 2002, 06:21 UTC
dejavu, this convo sounds oh so familliar =P
once again, i dont think theres a way to talk about balto sequels without bringing the evils of the land before time into the mix....i guess the two topics are joined at the hip for all eternity

Well actually, a few months before Balto II came out, a friend of mine (with a kick @$$ Balto site) recieved an e-mail from Universal telling him about Balto II.
He eventually arranged an IRC chat with the director and producer. The chat log is on my website if anyone wants to read it.
Could be spam mail. Could be a practical joke. But we should still consider that Balto III could be coming out sooner than we think. EEP!

67-106196056201 Jul 2002, 03:25 UTC
From what I heard, they weren't even going to decide whether to start it until about July (and it's July in a few hours).
84-106196075601 Jul 2002, 04:55 UTC
when will the insanity end???
luckily, the writer of balto had nothing to do with balto 2, according to Engel *who talks to him occasionally* he didnt like the idea either. that stupid land before time chick has way too much time on her hands. shes like the martha stewart of animation!! GRR!
83-106196071601 Jul 2002, 05:14 UTC
LOL@Martha Steward of animation!
Well I don't really want to see a Balto 3 unless it was a prequel.... Maybe someone will answer our prayers and do so? *shrugs* Ya never know...
83-106196070901 Jul 2002, 13:36 UTC
I would watch a Balto III if it was either a prequel or showed what happened after Aleu left with the wolf pack. Or, in other words, a triquel. o_O Only problem would be, it'd be sorta pointless if they didn't show the character the movie was named after, lol.

or if i made it and i would be doing the entire voice cast myself and animating them all from stick figures
Stickmations RULE!
75-106196062912 Aug 2002, 05:35 UTC
Heh. Lol. Well, it's past July . . . I wonder what the verdict is.
70-106196059212 Aug 2002, 12:08 UTC
god i hope they dont do a land before time mess with this... i would like to see it going closer with the original story..or the real story. perhaps as ive said before a prequel... and i really want kevin bacon back to do the voice

83-106196074812 Aug 2002, 15:50 UTC
I think a prequel would be good, having Balto as a pup, finding out about his mother and his father. But it would have to be decently animated, some prequels, sequels are on a budget and the animation is sloppy!
87-106196077914 Aug 2002, 00:55 UTC
if i wasnt so busy with my TOF project i would do a balto fan movie myself but later on me and thorn talked about a balto type movie

77-106196066215 Aug 2002, 00:03 UTC
They are going post a release date later on the Offical
website, not sure when??

must have Balto 3!
75-106196062905 Sep 2002, 19:22 UTC
That was . . . uh, kinda pointless, PM.
68-106196058505 Sep 2002, 20:39 UTC
Heck, if we all could post like that, it'd be a whole nation of forums with thousands of posts per person! It'd be MADNESS!!! o_O
But, that's beside the point. Anyhoo, I can't wait to see Balto 3, if and when it comes out. I was dissapointed with the second one, but I'll keep my hopes up for the third. I doubt it'll be much more than the plot of the second, though. *Sigh* And life goes on....
75-106196063506 Sep 2002, 07:19 UTC
I agree with you, kamotz. Eventhough WQ was made in relation (a little though...) with the first movie but it was somehow off the mark. I think if Balto 3 is to turn out, it would benefit more if it's a prequel, realting much the the original one.
As another note. Alan forwarded me a letter from DW a few weeks ago. He (DW) wrote that he and Phil went to see some ORIGINAL 'Balto' BGs and layouts while the movie is in pre-production period. Does that mean they're going to focus on the original story? Hmm...*ponders and falls asleep*
83-106196071608 Sep 2002, 22:58 UTC
Well Kyle, that news sounds promising! *crosses claws for a prequel*
75-106196063510 Sep 2002, 17:57 UTC
Duh...I hope so, I haven't seen much of Alan or DW this time around. Say, have yer all seen DW lately? I'm thirsty for more updates! Does he always attend TBL chats, huh Silver? :cheesy:
67-106196056211 Sep 2002, 18:44 UTC
Lately he hasn't, but he's probably very busy. Besides, with Cheeta's problems, he could have been trying to come in and no one would know!
83-106196071615 Sep 2002, 14:25 UTC
I haven't been online much, thanks to school... So I don't know. CW's probably right, he usually is. ;)
82-106196068716 Sep 2002, 04:32 UTC
Ah, Silver don't tell CW that! Is head will swell up! ;)
68-106196058516 Sep 2002, 20:10 UTC
LOL! If someone tells me I'm right, it's either because I'm standing to their right, or I put on a really good show with an over-extended answer, which confused them into thinking that I was smart, and therefore they believe me. ;)
But, yes. CW IS right more often than not.... (And I'm not just saying that to earn extra brownie points, or whatever. ;))
83-106196071617 Sep 2002, 03:26 UTC
LOL@Radar and Dunder!
Yup, that also sounds like CW. ;)
67-106196056217 Sep 2002, 21:24 UTC
One shouldn't accept <i>everything</i> someone says as being right. I've been wrong on more than one occasion.

ahhhhhh, as I have been wrong on more than one-HUNDRED occasions. That is no reason to doubt thine's self, CW. Of course, this is a message which can apply to ALL who are willing to listen.... ;)
67-106196056218 Sep 2002, 05:30 UTC
I am simply stating that I am not flawless.

68-106196058518 Sep 2002, 20:01 UTC
Nobody's perfect. If they were, they wouldn't be here.... heh. ;)

69-106196058622 Sep 2002, 13:24 UTC
i hope not to see a Balto:III. partly because the second one was pointless, so a third one would have even less of a point
67-106196056822 Sep 2002, 20:50 UTC
Hey El Diablo, I'm Crazy, welcome to TIB, read the FAQ and guildelines. Have fun and enjoy your stay.
As for Balto III, I don't care if they make it or not, as long as it doesn't kill off my good images of Balto I have right now. Prequel would be nice... Aleu's pack, uhhhh sure....2nd litter for B and J not too bad... anything else: it better be good or this chainsaw is gonna make new friends your neck. *laughs evily*
68-106196058522 Sep 2002, 21:21 UTC
Well, at least we got one thing straight, there: You ARE Crazy.... ;)
But, yes. I, personally, liked Star from the original Balto, and was kinda ticked when I saw they had done away with him, as well as some of the other good original characters. Oh, well. That's me, for ya.
Welcome, El Diablo. I'm Dunder, and, uh... Yeah.
75-106196063523 Sep 2002, 09:47 UTC
Hope I'm not to late  Welcome El Diablo, I'm Kylewulf and uh...anything to ask, it's worth asking the mods or somebody else around 'ere. And thanks for setting the thread straight again. I also know most newcomers are good at that.
Isn't pointless a bit melodramatic? Okay, perhaps a bit though. But being a bit off track from the original and set in a new scene with new characters and stuffs doesn't really that way. Just my op, hope the third one's more to the original so as not to have anymore wolves and tigers or eagles mewl over the WQ's bad point. Me? I hope not to have Little Foot in Balto 3. That woulda been funny lol!
69-106196058624 Sep 2002, 23:18 UTC
hi. thanks for the welcome:cool: :o
98-106196080424 Sep 2002, 23:40 UTC
Hiya El Diablo!I ish Blaze, you HyPeR,catnip loving,Mistwolf!O_o Ho do ya make the smilies that smoke o_O Weird.I MUST NO!
87-106196076925 Sep 2002, 01:43 UTC
IF they do make a Balto3, then there better not be a whole different storyline that has nothing to do w/ what we know from Balto1! Also, they should have better CGI animation that goes with the original animation.
I will have to jump off a cliff if they have a crappy voice cast AGAIN
75-106196063525 Sep 2002, 07:46 UTC
Welcome WOLFfan. Glad you've registered to experience the wildness of the boards. Stay in and don't stray away, okay LOL
Balto 1 supposed to have very good animation because it was to be released (although it has) in cinemas. But like Balto 2 which was a DTV animated film, it somehow lacks the quality that the 1st movie has. Think about LBT1. It was very good, until they come up with all those when-will-it-ever-end sequels. DTVs isn't as reputable as an on-cinema cartoon should be, I guess.
El Diablo>You're welcome.
Blaze>smiley with the smoke withit? It's part of the emoticon lol. Just take a look.
67-106196056825 Sep 2002, 21:11 UTC
Hi WOLFfan... welcome to TIB also... You'll meet ppl craizer than me in here  no names...LOL
Do remember to enjoy yourself here as long as it is within the limits of the guildelines... read the FAQ also...
Kylewulf> But I like LBT sequels o.O!... ;) *goes around the corner and barfs*
84-106196075625 Sep 2002, 22:27 UTC
i had the privilege of seeing ALL the LBT movies TOGETHER in the same spot in the video store. you dont realize how many there are until you see them together =P kinda like ants and roaches i guess.....i mean hey...theyre all pests.
75-106196063526 Sep 2002, 04:06 UTC
You bet. I never realised they had so many LBT sequels until I found out with the other trailers in Balto 2 DVD which I purchased. The latest was what...7th, I think. Whooo...
Crazywolfe>No offense. I do like LBT myself, once. I LOVED the first one. Though I didn't get to see what comes after it. It never hurts if you like it, that your op. But somehow the thrill degrades when you have too many sequels.
67-106196056826 Sep 2002, 06:23 UTC
The are up to nine? o.O I don't know which one is last "The Big Freeze", or the other one on DVD maybe... lost track...*remember's past promise to self* LOL I remeber that I promised myself when I was 7 or 8 that I would get every single LBT there is... *looks at his LBT sequels behind him...* What...? I only have 6 of them... o.O

Time 10. When will the madness stop!?!?!?
75-106196063527 Sep 2002, 03:51 UTC
*Looks at Maverick* Really? I checked on Google and i thought they have only up to 8. The latest I found was The Big Freeze. What's no. 9 called?
68-106196058527 Sep 2002, 19:54 UTC
Yes, do tell, not that I ENJOY the shows. I saw the first three, then decided that the constant sequals were a little too much.... But, yeah: There was a 9th? *Raises brow*
77-106196065627 Sep 2002, 20:45 UTC
The 9th will be out 12/3. As for the 10 AND 11th I don't know. I can't believe that the 9th isn't even out and they're already making an 11th.
75-106196063528 Sep 2002, 04:08 UTC
*Looks disgusted* Sheesh, they should stop making too much of LBT.
Maverick>An 11th? Now what's it goona be? A meteorite crashes down on earth and all the dinosaurs run for cover in hope to the wiped out from the face of the world AND from the drawing boards, I guess lol !!!
83-106196071628 Sep 2002, 13:33 UTC
If that was the case, I'd actually pay to buy that video! "Yeah! It's finally over!!!"
75-106196063529 Sep 2002, 10:27 UTC
*cringes* Heh, I don't know what Universal will think about that lol. :cheesy: Fancy having everyone buying LBT just to watch the end of the series...
87-106196077929 Sep 2002, 16:57 UTC
i hears there were was a 12th one
but hey its one #### of a franchise, kids buy it make more.
and im usre they make a ton of money of the videos
since i bet making those movies are so cheap to make
73-106196061329 Sep 2002, 19:31 UTC
When will those little dudes EVER grow up? Ugh..... -_-;;
98-106196080429 Sep 2002, 19:46 UTC
LBT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!I hate thoes movies they're......DUN DUN DUN DUN! scary.*plays the doom song*Yeah like Iditarod said when they gonna grow up?I...see....stupied.....people.-_-;;
75-106196062930 Sep 2002, 20:27 UTC
The first one was good. the second was . . . eh ukkay. third: whatever, but fourth just stepped over the line. Those songs . . . yecchhh.
they've grown up, but the problem is, more are born.

75-106196063501 Oct 2002, 02:33 UTC
It's a good thing the songs in WQ aren't towards those in LBT sequels, YET (and it's a big 'yet' I can say )
Iditarod>Perhaps they're using some sorta age-slowing cream. Ask Dunder, the cream expert. Clones? Could be.
83-106196071601 Oct 2002, 06:55 UTC
A 12th movie??? NO, that's just scary! >_< I'm sure video sales would be unprecidented if Universal did do such a thing. lol.
LOL@age slowing cream!
70-106196059201 Oct 2002, 10:53 UTC
i want to know if theres anyone out there with ALL LBT movies! if there is, i think we should do bad things to them.
67-106196057301 Oct 2002, 13:13 UTC
LOL! Probably anyone under 10 has all of them. I'm sure my little demon cousins do...oh yeah and AC you are more than welcome to do bad things to them *evil grin*
70-106196059201 Oct 2002, 14:38 UTC

75-106196063502 Oct 2002, 07:25 UTC
LOL @ Fluke & Cypher....! Well at least you could spare the first one. I like that very much  *cuddles LBT1 safely with him*
87-106196077906 Oct 2002, 17:07 UTC
wonder when those dvd boxed sets will start being released LOL
83-106196071607 Oct 2002, 20:17 UTC
Ohhh, I'd pay to see you running over LBT video's AC! lol!
68-106196058507 Oct 2002, 21:02 UTC
I'd do more than pay! LOL!

I'd laugh my der Esel off, matter-o-fact. Better yet: Get one of those little moterized wheelchairs, or something. Heh. Those would be pretty fun, just to ride around on. Let alone to go on a rampage with. All's well, either way. We still laugh, and AC still gets to have some fun....
75-106196062907 Oct 2002, 21:18 UTC
*drool* That would be fun to see. Maybe I should do that with my old copy of LBT four from when I was younger. Or I could just sell it to buy some Balto stuff. *grin*
70-106196059207 Oct 2002, 22:07 UTC
lol electric wheelchairs are a big no-no here. a good friend of mine is convinced that there is a life time conspiricy against him that they purposely stalk him and make his life genuinely ####.. dont ask cos i try not to ;)
68-106196058507 Oct 2002, 22:15 UTC
allllrighty, then. Heh.

Well, whadda 'bout them "Gator" things? Or even a golf cart? Then again, we don't wanna waste too much money on something that big, for such a small, humorous task, do we...?
Well, I suppose the bigger the vehichle, the more you can hit. But, the bigger the vehichle, the more damage costs will be when all is said and done. ;)
70-106196059207 Oct 2002, 23:39 UTC
wait till i get my new Harley, then we can work something out ;)
68-106196058507 Oct 2002, 23:49 UTC
A Harley?!

What kind? Harley's are awesome! But, I'm not sure you'll wanna put such a good bike to such pointless tasks. ;) I mean, why waste a great mororcycle like a Harley, when you could always break some cuddy thing like a Yahama, or something'. lol. But, that WOULD be fun to see. I don't doubt that. Heh....
70-106196059208 Oct 2002, 00:15 UTC
well ive already wasted one harley...another wont hurt lol.
no ill be getting hopefully a road king, and then stripping it down a bit and customising it. i *had* a sportster but i wont go into that...grrr <img src=http://fluke.theicecave.org/harley2.jpg>
68-106196058508 Oct 2002, 21:02 UTC
Nice bike. Too bad... uh, too bad "something" had to happen to it. Heh....
67-106196056808 Oct 2002, 23:15 UTC
Wait that's a Harley!!! o.O thought that was a differnet bike... o well it still looks like a sweet bike... have fun with it... ;P
70-106196059209 Oct 2002, 00:13 UTC
*coughs* ive just come out of hospital remeber? the Harley is umm.. RIPeaces. *cries*
67-106196056809 Oct 2002, 03:11 UTC
O.o I thought you said that your new bike... O_O!! *gives himself a selfmauling* Sorry AC didn't mean to say it in that way... I musta read your message incorrectly.

Sincere apologies...

no problem. lol if u cant laugh then theres no point is there? lol
68-106196058509 Oct 2002, 19:54 UTC
Well, I kinda assumed that was the Sporster, 'cause to begin with, I know what they look like, and I know what a Road King looks like. That is no Road King. lol. ;) But, still- Nice choice of color on that one, too. Perhaps a blue RK will be fitting, Ja? Heh....

A shiney black bike? It sounds good AC! Blue is my favorite color, but shiney black has a certain lure. lol.

I'll have to agree with Silver on this one: Blue is much more liked by one's self than black. But, it's your bike, AC, so whatever you want is fine. 'Sides, so long as it's a Harley, I'll like it anyway!

70-106196059212 Oct 2002, 16:54 UTC
ooh ooh ooh update...excited lol. i saw my poor poor bike today.. ye it is pretty damaged.. but the bike is still mine. i can do what i want.. the idea was to sell it. no no no silly idea. the engine is still fine. im going to rebuild it.
for about 3500 quid i can have a customised harley that will look nothing like the bike i had. it will have a softtail frame (big harley frame in other words) and ill go from there. its gonan be cool, and the custom paint job is going to be a small pic of me standing in my leather trench coat with a wolf laying next to me. gonna be so cool. it wont be finished till the summer... but dang ...gonna have good dreams today lol.
70-106196059412 Oct 2002, 18:06 UTC

Yuppers...no prequel for me! I want Aleu to be in it! Weee!!!
65-106196052927 Dec 2002, 01:47 UTC
Personally, I'd prefer that Balto 3 not be a prequel, for one reason: the white wolf.
Assuming Aniu is the same white wolf from the first movie, then Balto 2 has already gone a long way towards ruining the awesome mystique the first movie gave to her. A prequel with Balto's mother in it wouldn't help things very much.
Really, though, as long as Balto 3 is at least as good as Balto, I won't really care what it's about. Given the trend of animated sequels throughout history, however, that's a pretty tall order... :
67-106196056027 Dec 2002, 07:53 UTC
If they make an no.3 movie.. I just hope they wont screw the story up. I love the first movie.. but the sequel is kinda weird.. I dident sorta "catch" me from the beginning. Like the first movie. Well maybe thats just me.

Cyber Lucky
83-106196074028 Dec 2002, 00:05 UTC
I agree...the sequel was all spiritual an' stuff.
75-106196063028 Dec 2002, 06:30 UTC
We'll just have to wait and see.
Aglandiir>I too prefer it to not be a prequel. A story of Balto's beginning isn't much fun.
70-106196059228 Dec 2002, 11:18 UTC
u know i had said id like a prequel for a while...but kay u just made me think. ur absolutely right... a prequel would be depressing.. balto loses his mum, his pack and then he has to live on a old boat... sounds pretty sad to me. poor balto..
83-106196071629 Dec 2002, 21:18 UTC
You know Kaynine, I never thought of it that way either. The movie would end on a dark, sad note, which sharply contrasts the ending in Balto. Hmm... Do you think it would be a little too heavy hearted for the kids if Universal were to make a prequel? Or do you think they would end the movie on a hopeful note?
65-106196052929 Dec 2002, 23:07 UTC
I think that it would require a Balto-quality scriptwriter to pull off a prequel with a hopeful ending that works. If they could do it, it could really be great, and quite original in the realm of animated sequels.
Of course, the scriptwriter they currently have doesn't seem quite so disposed towards greatness.
EDIT, for clarity.

Another point,Fluke.Balto meets with Boris.....

...and fluke eats boris, mmm turkey
*edit* oops ok its early in the morning lol. im half asleep and pumped with adrenilin cos my balto cells just came.. i thought that said fluke meets balto meets boris.. ugh lol
75-106196063001 Jan 2003, 05:57 UTC
Nah,it's okay. You can keep Boris in your tummy. I think Balto would've like it anyway.
75-106196063508 Jan 2003, 04:21 UTC
LOL @ Kaynine. Duh, I wouldn't mind another sequel but honestly I really couldn't think up of what's gonna happen next- that'll be a surprise. A prequel didn't sound too bad either, and as Aglandiir puts it, they'll have to put up a good ending to that one. But seriously a sad, dark past wouldn't be so bad if there's something to counter it. Say, Balto goes to Nome and meets Boris, Balto meets Jenna...hmmmm, looks good.
76-106196064505 Mar 2003, 02:08 UTC
i thought of a good name for Balto 3, "Return of Aleu" hows that sound?
(Edited by LongBow986 at 8:10 pm on Mar. 4, 2003)
78-106196066905 Mar 2003, 02:44 UTC
That's a good name for #3 but why would Aleu return? She's got a whole wolf pack to take charge of! Maybe "Balto III : Balto and Jenna runaway to join the wolf pack". Nah, just kidding! I have another thing I'd like to discuss. Who do you think Aleu's mate should be? I always think Nava cause she "admired" him. But now I think Niju. No reason, it just sounds correct.
70-106196059205 Mar 2003, 17:51 UTC
Nava would be like her great great Grandad. Anyway I don't trust anyone who can become a tree..
78-106196066905 Mar 2003, 21:42 UTC
LOL The tree part was very annoying. "I became one with the tree" oh I hate that! Keep a thing in mind, don't trust Nava. He might be watching you from the trees LOL!
70-106196059205 Mar 2003, 23:17 UTC
If I was a wolf, I'd choose that time of nava becoming one with the tree, to mark my territory on that tree... Let's see him try it again...
78-106196066905 Mar 2003, 23:53 UTC
LOL I don't think he'd try that again! He might go become "one" with some thing else. A game, fill in the blank, "I became one with the ___.". Well my answer is I became one with the frogs.", It suits him.
65-106196054206 Mar 2003, 01:28 UTC
LOL@Fluke! Maybe Niju should/would have done that, if he had known Nava was a tree...
Nightwolf>If Nava became a frog, I'd eat him, with Muru as a side dish...LOL
But seriously, I don't really hate the characters of Nava and Muru; there are just a couple times where they really get on my nerves, like Nava's "tree" thing, and Muru's howling(that almost ruined the scene for me, as it was too childish, even for me. For heaven's sake, MICE DO NOT HOWL!!!) Why did Aleu's spirit guide have to be a mouse, anyway?
78-106196066906 Mar 2003, 01:56 UTC
I guess one of the people liked mice. (ack! How could they?)
Aniu> Yuck, warts! wait, frogs don't have warts. Slimy, beware the slimy! Mmmm..... Muru, now thats a good sidedish for you.

~Aleu~
83-106196071611 Mar 2003, 04:08 UTC
Which leads some of us to believe that Aniu isn't the same White wolf from Balto. ;)
75-106196063011 Mar 2003, 04:52 UTC
You've seen how Jenna changed. So maybe they did the same mistake with the White Wolf.
Anyway,I do think that the fox would've made a better spirit guide (you know the Muru howling part? My sister laughed at it saying it was silly!)
65-106196054211 Mar 2003, 09:11 UTC
I will always consider Aniu the white wolf, and I have a reason for this, based not only in my stubborness and my various theories, but also in deep sentimental value.
Way back in 1996, around the time I got "Balto" on video, my older sister and I watched the movie together. While watching the now classic scene, we pondered the unknown identity of the white wolf. Later that evening, after my sister had gone home, she called me up and said, "I was just thinking, maybe the white wolf is Balto's mother!". I became excited by this idea, and I took it to heart, clinging tight to it for six long years.
Then came WQ, which threatened to tear apart this beloved theory. I had been looking forward to seeing the white wolf's return, but upon seeing Aniu at the end of the film, I naturally had issues with her appearance. However, the white wolf=Balto's mother theory refused to leave me since it had been present in my mind for so long and had thus developed immense nostalgic value. This is the case now, as it will forever remain. Throwing away this theory would be like throwing away my old video of "Balto" which I would NEVER do.
I often like to consider the events of WQ being unrelated to the original, a what-if scenario, and this makes it safe for me to once again see THE ORIGINAL white wolf as Balto's mother, not the sequel's Aniu.
Another thing to add to my senseless rant, I interpret the WW scene like this: Balto notices the white wolf, and looks up wondering who she is. She howls, then looks back down at him, and his expression changes to what I think to be him saying "Oh, it's YOU!". He then turns away in shame and anger, and the scene goes on...
76-106196064411 Mar 2003, 11:22 UTC
To tell you the truth all the characters well to me were poorly drawn I believe the characters in Balto had more detail to them then the ones from WQ.
But now that I think about it the fox was pretty good.
78-106196066911 Mar 2003, 16:16 UTC
Loner's right, the characters in Balto were much more detailed and less cartoonish than WQ.
76-106196064311 Mar 2003, 16:49 UTC
In the religion of my people anything can be your spirit guide because all things have a spirit.
In my opinion the fox should have not been her spirit guide because the fox is noun as a cunning tricter amoung my people. Balto's daughter is not a cunning trictster.
(Edited by Lone Wolf at 12:52 pm on Mar. 11, 2003)
65-106196054211 Mar 2003, 18:48 UTC
True, the characters do look more cartoonish in the sequel, but the animation seems to be better than many other direct-to-video sequels I have known, and it is certainly above and beyond the animation seen in Saturday morning cartoons.
I guess it doesn't matter that Muru is a mouse, but why did he have to intrude on that wonderful 'goodbye daughter' scene?
76-106196064411 Mar 2003, 20:11 UTC
You make a good point he really didn't belong in that very last scene. In my opinoin he should have been eaten lol to tell you the truth
78-106196066911 Mar 2003, 20:44 UTC
lol. After Aleu howled she should have killed that mouse and throw him into the sea. *thinks how fun it would be to kill a mouse.*
97-106196080012 Mar 2003, 01:51 UTC
I agree with both Silver and Aniu1983.
But, alas...I bet if we ask DW he'll say that the white wolf from Balto2 WAS the one from Balto1...so therefore, it has to have been *shrugs*
Its only the animation, if they had worked harder on it, Aniu would have looked fine and just like in the first.
As for the spirit thing, I think The Raven, if it hadn't been Aniu ;), would have made the best spirit guid for Aleu. (the other one; not me
)

Actually we did ask DW that ages ago and yes that is what he said, BUT that is the sequel.. the original Whitewolf was drawn without thought of WolfQuest.. so who knows what the animators were thinking when they made it. I don't believe it was meant to be Balto's mother.. surely if it was, there would have been more to the scene.
116-106196084612 Mar 2003, 12:10 UTC
could have been his mother, but i doubt it. i do know that it was not a spirit in the first movie cause of the footprints and of course the other dogs heard the howling. just another thing that got changed (read as ruined) in WQ

76-106196064312 Mar 2003, 17:01 UTC
If there is a third Balto movie, what do you all think it will be about? I also wonder who will be in it. Do you all think some of the characters from Balto one will appear?
97-106196080012 Mar 2003, 18:43 UTC
Ahhh, I get what your saying AC. And I agree that there should have been
more if the WhiteWolf WAS Balto's mother...interesting...yesss *nods*
~Aleu~
65-106196054213 Mar 2003, 02:55 UTC
What else could they have added to the scene without lessening its drama? I guess the filmakers left it to the audience to decide who the white wolf is, and I have always thought of her as Balto's mother.
Here I go again...
Another theory of mine(and this is considering the events of the sequel)is that Aniu simply shapeshifted into an alternate form so as to make herself unrecognizable to Balto, since he would have been even more ashamed at seeing his real mother(remember he despised his wolf heritage up until this point in the movie)staring down at him. I mean, if she can change into a raven, a fox, a bear, and possibly THREE wolverines, why couldn't she change into a huge white wolf?
Mainly though I just think that it is the fault of the animators that Aniu looks so different. If B3 is a prequel, I hope that Aniu looks closer to the WW of the original, animated by people who have had A LOT of practice. Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen. *sighs*

75-106196063513 Mar 2003, 18:29 UTC
*laughs* Good point, Nex! Honestly the wolverines & the fox did looked like they're nicely drawn. Except that Aniu could have be a lot better. A LOT BETTER, I'd say. Ahh...tis' what it is with direct-to-videos...
76-106196064413 Mar 2003, 20:13 UTC
I am afriad that I can't agree in my opinion I think that they could have done a better job on the wolverines, the bear and Aniu. I found the fox to be the only one drawn well.
75-106196063514 Mar 2003, 01:59 UTC
It's okay Loner. Everyone has thir own opinion.
Aniu1983> I really like that theory of yours. If it was really true, then they ought to have something good to tell in B3. But I do recall Balto saying to her daughter in one scene that her mother was as white as snow etc. Could he be mentioning about Aniu? Not in name tho, but maybe...:) Then again it wasn't impossible for Aniu to shapeshift into anything, was it?
65-106196052916 Mar 2003, 07:53 UTC
I think they should leave Aniu/the white wolf out of Balto 3 entirely, even though I know they won't. A large part of the scene from Balto was that you had no idea who this wolf was, or what it was doing there, or how it got there. It wasn't a deep scene, it was a *raw* scene... you almost felt like I'm sure Balto did when you watch it.
By removing the mystery of the white wolf, they're diminishing the power it holds. They've done enough damage in Balto 2; they should cut their losses and leave Aniu out of Balto 3.

That is way cool. I remember thinking a while back that it would be neat if the original writers returned for "Balto 3". I didn't think it would actually happen, since these are low budget films.
Sean Astin plays Balto's son? Sounds interesting, even though I haven't a clue who Sean Astin is.

Aniu1983>Sean Astin? I found out that he plays Samwise in LOTR. Boy. Wonder how he will sound like as Balto's son. *imagines him going around asking "Where's Mr Frodo?"
75-106196063019 Mar 2003, 02:53 UTC
O.o Then I guess Balto 3 is in good hands. Here's hoping for another great movie.
Samwise?! OMG,wonder how he'll sound?
65-106196054219 Mar 2003, 03:05 UTC
Unfortunately, I have never seen "Lord of the Rings". I decided that I will wait until the whole trilogy is on DVD, then watch them in succession.
I did think that the name Sean Astin sounded familiar. I wish I knew what he sounded like.
The only thing I wonder is WHY, for the love of everything that is "Balto", did they have to pick Charles Fleischer again for the voice of Boris? Arrrrgh!
One thing I am really looking forward to however, is that since B3 has the same writers as "Balto", the main characters should have their old personalities back.
It was said somewhere in the interview that B3 is midway through animation. Boy, what I wouldn't give for a current, rough sketch of Balto and Jenna, just so I could see how they look.

Please let Jenna be herself again! *prays hard* The one in WQ was definitely not her.Never cared much about Boris, though.
He'll sound awkward,I guess.I mean,it's the guy who plays Sam!
65-106196054219 Mar 2003, 04:40 UTC
I agree. Jenna was definitely not herself in WQ. She looked way too different, and her personality wasn't right. Hopefully "Balto 3" will be better in this respect.
*has a sudden flashback* I know who Sean Astin is! He played Mikey in the movie "The Goonies", which is one of my most favorite movies, since a good part of it was filmed in Astoria, Oregon. (I live close to Astoria, by the way).
I can't believe I forgot who he was, even though he was only a kid in "The Goonies". *bonks herself on the head like Star*
75-106196063019 Mar 2003, 04:52 UTC

Sorry,never heard of it...
Whatever he looked (or sounded) like,he's definitely different now. *imagines Sean as a kid*
65-106196054219 Mar 2003, 05:09 UTC
You should see "The Goonies". It's an awesome movie.
In case you were wondering what Sean Astin looked like as a kid, you can go to www.seanastin.com. Once you are there, click on "Biography", then click on "The Goonies", and you'll see a picture of him from the film.
76-106196064319 Mar 2003, 21:09 UTC
The goonies was a kick butt movie! I remmember the good old times when I was a kid and use to annoy people to death by repeating phrases from the movie.
76-106196064419 Mar 2003, 21:49 UTC
I have never herad of that movie before. um was this a comedy
76-106196064319 Mar 2003, 21:57 UTC
The Goonies was a comedy. And i thought it was a pretty good one when I was 10. But then again I still like it. After all only 6 years has past since then.
65-106196054219 Mar 2003, 22:08 UTC
Loner: In a nutshell, the movie is about a group of kids who go hunting for a pirate's loot after finding a very old treasure map.

*smacks a frying pan into face* That was the most stupid thing I ever said! I know that movie! I enjoyed it a lot!And to think I said I've never heard of it.Sheesh!
There used to be a game, too! (that was from the cartridge gaming era.)
76-106196064321 Mar 2003, 01:23 UTC
Wasent the game for super nintendo or the plain origanal nintendo. As for funny quets from the movie.
*you idiot! thats my moms favorite piece!*
*you glued it upsidedown!*
You just never forget funny movies from your childhood. *LOL* What is your favorite movie that you remember watching as a kid?
116-106196084621 Mar 2003, 02:31 UTC

sad isn't it? well, at least i found better movies now, huh? *looks around at all the balto surrounding him*
as a side note, some of my other favs are Castaway, Braveheart, and Apollo 13.
76-106196064321 Mar 2003, 03:23 UTC
Castaway was a great movie! Sad ending though.
65-106196052921 Mar 2003, 05:25 UTC
The return of the original writers is good, yes, but I seriously doubt that they alone can make Balto 3 any good. Even with old-style animation, the artwork probably won't be nearly as good as it should be. The original Balto is so amazing because everything about it is excellent and works together so tightly. Balto 3 may have a good script, but a good script does not a good movie make.
And singing? I wish I could send an email to Elana and Cliff to let them know just how bad that idea is.
75-106196063021 Mar 2003, 05:55 UTC
That's BAD. Balto's better off with instrumental music.
87-106196077921 Mar 2003, 07:12 UTC
ugh no singing this isnt disney! and i get irritated when a key moment happens and the break out with the singing and ag even if you emailed them and tell them what a bad idea it is i doubt that will make too much of a diffrence in the outcome.
76-106196064321 Mar 2003, 23:05 UTC
I dont mind singing that much... Of course I do come across those that I think need to have there voice box removed. *As they start singing glass objects break*
103-106196081722 Mar 2003, 00:35 UTC
Yeah I agree with lone the singing is very annoying.oh yeah im new to these boards

AG> i agree with ya %100 percent, the writers are just a small part of a million things that make a movie good... its just we have one less thing to worrie about now ^.^
heheh... SINGERS KEEP OUT: TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT
65-106196054222 Mar 2003, 21:55 UTC
It's a pleasure to meet you, Goldwolf!
Aglandiir>I don't think that it was Cliff and Elana's idea to put songs in "Balto 3". In the interview, Elana said that she and Cliff hadn't done work with the lyrics, that they were written by someone else. So e-mail the person(or people)who wrote the songs.
I don't mind the fact that there will be songs in B3. I am a big fan of many an animated film, so I am used to songs. If the songs turn out to be not so great, they can easily be skipped over(especially with DVD).

75-106196063023 Mar 2003, 07:03 UTC
But what about missing the visuals in the song part? Hmm...Nah! I doubt that'll be good anyway.
65-106196054224 Mar 2003, 03:10 UTC
Well, you could just mute the TV, and you wouldn't miss any of the visuals.
75-106196063024 Mar 2003, 06:46 UTC
Now why didn't I think of that? Boy, I must be getting old.I'll do just that,if there were any songs, that is.
65-106196054226 Mar 2003, 04:14 UTC
Don't feel embarrassed, Kaynine. I do things like that all the time.
When I get the B3 DVD, I will watch the entire movie without muting the songs, so I can see it in its complete form.
I was just wondering, what type of animation was used in "Balto II: Wolf Quest"? I know that "Balto" was traditional animation, and that B3 will be the same, but what was B2?
65-106196052926 Mar 2003, 04:26 UTC
Elana and Cliff didn't write the words to the songs, but they were probably in charge of deciding where they would come in the movie and how they would be incorporated into the surrounding scenes.
And yes, songs can be skipped or muted, but that one needs to do that at all to avoid them is a drawback. I love being able to watch Balto from beginning to end (minus the advertisements at the start) and get totally immersed in it. The first time I watched it, I forgot about the iced tea I made for myself beforehand; never mind the remote control. If I had to be looking out for a song while I was watching it, and then had to pick up the remote and skip it, it would break that immersion and seriously take away from the movie.
75-106196063026 Mar 2003, 06:02 UTC
That would really spoil the fun. It's just better to not put in singing. I really love instrumentals!I get so absorbed when I'm listening to it.
65-106196054227 Mar 2003, 02:45 UTC
You have a good point there, Ag. I didn't think about that.

Actually, if i'm not mistaken Aniu, I believe digital animation was used in both movies. I'm assuming by traditional animation you mean cel animation. No traditional cels were used in either Balto or Wolf Quest.
With digital animation all the character frames are done in line art, then transfered to computer. There they are colored digitally. If you compare cel animation with digital, you can usually see slight differences in color.
Cel animation is nice, but I do find it a bit strange that they would make the switch with Balto 3.
65-106196054228 Mar 2003, 20:31 UTC
Oops. Sorry, I thought "Balto" was cel animation. I obviously know nothing about this sort of thing. Thank you for setting my knowledge straight, Silver.
What Disney films were made with cel animation? Any recent ones?
83-106196071628 Mar 2003, 21:20 UTC
No problem Aniu, glad to help.

Hmm, I don't know of any Disney movies done with digital animation... ^_^; But if you want a good example you can use the Lion King, Atlantis, Mulan, ect. Which proves cel animation is far from being down and out. ;)
75-106196063029 Mar 2003, 06:28 UTC
I did hear that no production cels are made during the making of the movie.
With TLK as an example,I do see the power of cel animation.

Good news to all,I did a search on balto 3 and found out through the internet movie database. [url:]
http://www.imdb.com that balto 3 is currently in devlopment as we speak right now.

...Oh... T_T I will learn more hard in english...(Every one answer very long!..It's hard to understand..(But I will try to understand T_T..) I feel a little disappoint in Balto 2 (Sorry for grammar >_<!) It's different from Balto.. the line, the song, the voice..... I think Balto 1 is good more than Balto 2 (Sorry for grammar >_<!) ..the lion king2 is very well, like the lion king 1(but I think the lion king 1 is good more than TLK2) .But Balto 2 wasn't. ... Um.. If Balto 3 will be making ..I wish ,it is to be good like Balto 1...^^"( Oh!!! my head is going to be hurt!!! >_<")
75-106196063530 Apr 2003, 16:40 UTC
Whew, it's been a while here

Sorry to interrupt the flow, but I heard from an unofficial source (from typed words apparently) that Balto 3 will be out in June 2003. Is this true?! Can anyone confirm this? I'm starting to freak out already...
Leonel> Good step, Leonel. English is fun!
65-106196052901 May 2003, 01:01 UTC
It had better not come out this June, or this year. I'd be happier if it didn't come out next year, either. Every day they spend working on it is hopefully a day in which they fix a glaring flaw that they didn't fix in the relatively quick production of Balto 2.
65-106196054201 May 2003, 04:26 UTC
I highly doubt that B3 will be out this June. If so, we would have much more information about the movie, such as the title, a plot line, and a trailer(the trailer for B2 showed up several months before its release). But we don't even have the title of the movie. Universal wouldn't be so secretive about B3 if its release was right around the corner.
I think there is little need to worry about an early release, since there is not enough evidence.
75-106196063501 May 2003, 13:27 UTC
Yeah, I'm beginning to think so too. It would surely take time to take up production of the film itself, and not to mention the promos involved. And yes, I'd rather hold my feet and wait a little longer. I just hope B3 will turn up to our most minor expectations, at least. It'll be the day.
Silly of me to get so obsessed with rumours. Your words really sooth me out, Aniu1983. thanks!
