Balto will be! LOL
A lot of us know that! lol
I hope they won't. They served their purpose in the first movie. If they fit them into the third, they'll have to totally change their characters, which will suck, or they won't work well at all, which will also suck.
Yes, we all like the trio. That doesn't mean they belong in every movie.

It has been discussed before, but I hope that Nikki, Kaltag and Star is going to return
I don't think they would have to change their characters and I think it would be wonderful if they brought back star, for he was my fav
.
Nikki, Kaltag, and Star were bit characters. They didn't start out as Balto's friends and, though they were friendly with him, they didn't end up as his friends, either. To bring them back in Balto 3 would be to assign a certain permanent significance to them that just wasn't apparent at all in the first movie. If you just watch Balto, it's obvious that, even though they've loveable characters and serve important roles in the movie, they really don't *matter* in the grand scheme of things. To bring them back would be to say that they do matter.
It's the exact same problem that they had with trying to bring back the White Wolf in Balto 2, in fact. The writers of Balto 2 probably intended for Aniu to be the White Wolf from the first movie. But the White Wolf had a specific purpose in the first movie; as much as everyone likes that wolf, it's obvious that his/her purpose was fully served after that scene and he should therefore never be seen or heard from again. They brought him back in Balto 2 and gave "her" a gender, a name, a form, and a history; as a result, they got people like me and AC who refuse to believe that Aniu and the White Wolf are the same thing. Bringing the White Wolf Back was a bad idea.
And Bringing the Trio Back would also be a bad idea. Maybe a cameo here and there, but nothing more.

I don't believe the White Wolf and Aniu were the same either. But I don't think having Aniu there was a bad idea either. Sure you'll have those arguing that she was the original white wolf and those who'll argue she wasn't. If it wasn't for her, Balto 2 would have been even less of a movie. She's the driving force behind everything, Balto's visions, the raven, his various totem spirits and even down to Nava's forseeing a leader/savior for the wolf pack.
There's no doubt that there was an intended link between Aniu and the White Wolf, but there's more evidence to support the fact that she's not the white wolf. The white wolf from Balto was meant to symbolize all wolves. Aniu was meant to for Balto and Aleu to re-discover/discover If anything from Wolf Quest ties in from Balto, it's that we finally his mother is a wolf and just happens to be a white wolf at that. One of you said it yourselves, white wolves near the arctic circle are pretty common anyway.
Without actually talking to someone who was on the production team of Wolf Quest, we'll never really know. I still say the sigificance is just as important, even if both characters aren't meant to be one.

Aniu is a fine character and is important to the movie, but the connection to the original White Wolf just flat-out doesn't work. It's a fairly logical assumption that Aniu was intended to be the same White Wolf; even people on the original Balto production team have assumed that. But Aniu only works if she isn't the White Wolf; she falls apart if she is.
I see what your saying. Even if the intention was there, her phsyical appearance and actions in Balto 2 nullify those intentions. I guess they should have thought more carefully about Aniu's role if they wanted her to clearly be the White Wolf.
I hope they don't have those two stupid polar bears in the third, Muk and Luk. If they do have those two dumb things, I hope something happens to them.
i have doubts about all yas hopes for returning characters. If they didnt show up in the second one, theyre not going to be in the third likely
I'm guessing Balto, jenna, and boris. that's it
I doubt Aleu and the characters introduced in 2 would be in the third one...maybe an aniu cameo

As I said in another thred I would like to see Jenna's two friends Sylvie And Dixie again, And I would like to see Balto beat the tar out of Steele
hmmm.. i wonder if in the 3ed movie they will say how Alue is doing in the wolf pack...

I think it is more likely that Balto will say"Hmmm I wonder how Aleu is doing with The Wolf Pack?" I hope They Mention Her though
The only characters we know for sure are Balto, Jenna and Boris (so probably Muk & Luk too). There will probably another apparition of Aniu too. I don't think we will see Aleu, cause it's not her story anymore; as for the other characters from B1, there's still a possibility since the original writers came back for writing the story.
Well, if Muk and Luk do return for the third movie, it'll probably be for another minor role (playmate of Balto's son, perhaps). I just hope that another trio isn't introduced, but the reintroduction of Nikki, Kaltag and Star seems a difficult prospect. The reintroduction of Steele seems a bit more likely. Maybe the writers explain what happened to him after he was shamed by all the dogs of Nome...
I think Jenna will be in there too. But, she'll probably play a small role like some other characters in the sequels. Which stinks because, she deserves a bigger role. But, I HATE Jodi Benson. I just hate, hate her.
Jodi Benson did the voice of Jenna in B3, it is confirmed in the interview. But I'm not sure if the problem really came from the voice actor, I feel the scenario is more responsible for her change of attitude. Besides, in the french version the voice of Jenna hasn't changed but I really saw the difference with the first.
Well we all know that Balto will be in!
I hope Jenna has a bigger role in balto 3 then in Balto 2 but the chances aren't high.
I also hope that Boris is in and that Steele will return because I thought that Steele was a better bully than Niju was (not like I want Balto to be pushed around).
So I hope Jenna has a bigger role in balto 3 then in balto 2 and I hope Steele returns and his trio!

I wish Kaltag, Nikki, and Star would be in the third movie, although I do have serious doubts. Universal has not put much effort in to some of their sequels, which is sad because of how well done the first Balto movie was.
I agree. They probably won't but we can hope.

From what I here it sounds like alot of effort was put into Balto 3
*nods* here's hoping that it can raise the bar on Direct to video movies. *glares at all the other cheap direct to video sequals made by universal and disney*
I do think that this film is going to be pretty good. Between the original writers returning, and the amount of effort, and for that matter time put into this movie (over two years), it sounds like it will be much more of a success than WQ. I'm not expecting for this movie to raise the bar on straight-to-video sequels. In fact, I fear that it will probably be very much overlooked, just like the first two Balto films. But, I am looking forward to what will probably be a very well put together story.
In terms of whether or not some of the original characters should return, I'm neutral. I would like to see what happened to Steel. And I do love the trio. But, I do feel it would be hard to reintroduce these characters after being absent in the last film. Not to mention, their original purpose would probably be changed, just like the white wolf.
And I don't care how many arguments have been made against this idea, but I'm convinced that the creators of WQ intended for the the white wolf from the sequel to be the same wolf as the one in the original. Did they considerably change this character, and alter it's purpose? Most definately. But, I don't see how they could have brought the same idea into the sequel and intended for it to be another wolf.
I do feel that they made a mistake by doing this, but I don't know how WQ would have worked without Aniu. Whether or not the creators have brought back some original characters in the third film, I will be interested to see. Hey! It is the original writers. If anyone can make it work, they can.

I feel the same way! It would also be cool(As I have said before to see Sylvie and Dixie again

That's one of the reasons I have hope for this dtv, and the storyline sounds much better than WQ ever did. I'm hoping the trio and Steele come back for this one.
I hope in this film we'll see a bit more of Jenna, The 2nd one was a bit dissapointing with Jenna. I hope we see less of Muk and Luk tho. The were just annoying in WQ.
I've never liked Muk or Luk really, I'd rather they weren't in it too! Definately we should see Jenna more.
i agree with you pink. muk and luk where fine in the first movie but then come the 2nd one it was like "ookkaayyy...enough of these guys."
i too hope that the original sled team dogs are in WoC, which i did hear that dog sledding will be back in it.

Yeah I agree about Muk and Luk. What is it with companies shoving their comic relief chars in our faces *coughTimonandPumbaa*cough*
I can see how people would think Anieu and the White Wolf are the same thing. Afterall they do look exactly alike, but like others have said, just wouldn't work for them to be the same. And it was clear in the first movie that Balto hadn't met that wolf before.
I think it would be cool to see what became of Steele. Could be in trying to regain the respect of his fellow dogs again he'll become more forceful and meaner than ever. As far as Niju from the sequel, he seemed to be just a wolf version of Steele to me =p And i felt his henchmen were poor excuses for wolves.
As far as Aleu though, I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't even spoken of by someone. Characters have just dropped away out of nowhere before. Though at least she's across the ocean or w/e, so we have a reason for her total absence.
Mroo, I'm looking forward to this movie.

Talking of Aniu, I wonder if she will actually be in this one.
Unlike WQ it doesn't seem to be about Wolfs, More Sled dogs so I don't really see how she can be in it!
I hope she is though!

Well, the original Balto was also mostly about sled dogs, yet there was the famous white wolf. So I think there will be another appearance of a wolf or Aniu. I just hope it is not all about dog this time...after WQ, to see no wolf in it would feel really strange.

had it not been for Lion King 1 1/2 I would still be completely disgusted with Timon and Pumbaa
anyone know if polar bears have a longer life span than dogs or shall we be taken for suckers again?
Yeah...me too. 1.5 made me remember that yes I did used to like them =p
And I have no idea about the ploar bears' life spans XP
And I have no idea about the ploar bears' life spans XP
I like Timon and Pumbaa, especially in TLK 3 (or 1 1/2), at least they are not babies and have more serious jokes than Muk & Luk...But overall, they are much different characters and they don't have the same role IMO.
Muk and Luk never seem to grow up! When Alue was an adult they were still cubs!
