I just found it today, on the official japanese Universal site! To watch it, just go to my site! Warning, DON'T watch it if you don't want to be spoiled, as it contains HEAVY SPOILERS! (The only thing I will say is : Wow!!! )

After watching it, I felt a bit strange lol! Not that it isn't what I expected (because it IS), but after so much speculations, it was as if a bomb exploded!
Yes, the only thing which disapoints me a bit is the drawings, because it still has a "Wolf Quest" look and I think LBT 10 looked better. But IMO the animation itself is much better and I don't see major flaws as it was the case in the animation of Wolf Quest. At the same time, I don't think they could do really better if Universal decided to put a low budget on it. They used 3D to make lower costs, but the drawings are still what costs the most, and new technology has its limits...Well, it's still better than WQ, and that's the most important.
I'm also glad that "some major characters here" (I'm sure you know who I mean...) seem to not be as annoying as they were in WQ, and more useful !...:)
I don't think the old trio is in...I've watched it several times, made screenshots, but I don't see any of them. In fact, I think they believed they were "old" and didn't fit well in the movie, so they decided to replace them with other characters who have more or less the same role (ie the female dog who looks like Sylvie) Well, perhaps they were right to do that, we will have to watch it for real.
By the way, where's Kodi? When I said he would not be at the center of the story, do you believe me now? ^^ In fact, I think he is on one passage, but he clearly hasn't a major role in it. (at first I thought it was Jenna in this passage lol )

I also don't see it as spoiler-rific.  In fact, it actually peaked my interest in the movie.  I'm actively looking forward to it now.  Sure, there looks like there might be a few new (maybe somewhat annoying) characters, but the story seems to be solid.  At least they're returning to dog sledding.  And there could be some nice potiental for a history lesson as well.

Am I the only one not surprised by the animation style?  I mean the same animators worked on the film.  I didn't expect a change of style at all.  I just hope they learned a few lessons from Wolf Quest.

I thought the animation looked good. not as good as the original, But the only DTV movie that can make that claim is Lion King 1 1/2, And Balto's eye's are Yellow again(I know that was said before, But it's nice to have visual proof )

Uh...as far as I know, I never said the contrary...Universal has always released their movies on both.

Yes, only TLK 1 1/2 had an animation on pair with the original, but TLK is also the most popular Disney, so they could put a big budget on it.

Well, I think I said it before, but I think LBT 10 is better drawn and has undergone a major improve in 2 years. Maybe it's just the trailer who gives me this feeling, but anyway I'm still satisfied with the animation in B3.

Actually, Kodi is in the trailer, in one or two passages. He looks a lot like Jenna, so you may have confused him with her, but he is one of the dogs under the crate in the boiler room, and also the red dog just behind Balto in the sled. But, the fact he is on the cover makes me think he still has a greater role in the movie, and the trailer just don't show it.

EDIT: not related to the subject, but I've found that the IMDb.com database has added a page for Balto 3. And guess where they got the few info they have?... On my site...LOL !

Balto the Aviation Enthusiast?  Cute!

Trailer looks very good.  Definitely can't wait to see it.  Why does it have to be released outside the U.S. first!!  

Only one problem, though.  Mr. Trailer Voice didn't say, "Share the adventure!"  WTF?  I WANNA SHARE THE ADVENTURE DAMMIT!

That was very interesting! You are the bomb, steetboris! I didn't see Kodi either. I definately saw Jenna (with her bandanna again . . .) but I never saw Kodi. Maybe I should watch the trailer again . . . for the tenth time or so . . .
I didn't see any spoilers (even though I've read steetboris' spoilers, and that not that bad. Just very obvious), but I'm still interested in buying it!
I hope it'll be released by Christmas 2004 (Thankgiving holiday would be nice too! ) in the US and other countries that haven't received a release date yet!

Spend your Christmas with Balto! whee!

I got to see it in TBL chat. It looks very promising; much more so than WQ. I feel very good about the next (and hopefully last) installment of Balto.

Actually, I just downloaded the trailer from steetboris' site, and I finally saw Kodi! You're right, he is in the crate scene, but I was surprised by one thing: He looks like Aleu! His color, his markings, everything! You look for yourself and pause the trailer at that part! You'll see that Kodi is not a Jenna-clone as once thought, but actually an Aleu-clone! That's scary!

Except for the wolf part, Kodi is very similar to Aleu. And the fact that he's a guy . . . . . dog . . . . . yeah . . . .

Did anyone else notice this?

BTW: During the ending part of the trailer, why is it just Balto and crew? Where's Kodi? I think that he's just on the cover because his "daddy's" in the movie. Plus I hope this movie is the last, because these things are still in the series:
- Boris (please kill off the goose . . . he's annoying)
- Muk and Luk (still as cubs . . . grow up already! leave the nest and be wild! )
- Jenna (seems by the looks of things, she won't have a big part in the movie. that's sad . . . where did the spunky Jenna go?)

Looks pretty good, and it looks a lot better than WQ.  I was hoping to see the trio, but I don't think we will.    I wish the four annoying characters weren't in there, but oh well.  The way the female goose talks, it's almost like she's Boris' relative or something.  I just hope the movie is as good as it looks in the trailer, if not better.

Yes, I noticed this too, and it's quite nice. But the music used in the trailer for the first isn't the actual music from the movie, and it was the same for WQ, so this mustn't be the music from the third. The thing I would like though, is that they used the music themes from the first one to make the soundtrack for the third.

Like a remixed soundtrack for the third movie?  If it was well done, I wouldn't mind hearing it either.  My last few experiences with remixes from the original of something were quite pleasant.

That's not Kodi . . . .
Kodi has Aleu's markings . . �see the Balto 3 cover . . . .
I think Kodi is the one in the lower right corner. He looks more like the cover that way . . . .

Ok . . . I'll admit it. I was wrong. That one IS Kodi. The cover changes suck! The one in the lower corner is like a version of the "Old Kodi" from the first few covers that where shown. But the Jenna-clone is Kodi, alright.

So, does that mean that the blue-eyed Jenna-clone pup (from Wolf Quest) was Kodi? I can't tell from the darkness of the trailer and the old covers have him as a blue-eyed pup. The new ones are too dark to tell.
But I thought all of the pups got adopted! If the Jenna-clone is Kodi, where's his collar? The "Aleu-clone" has a collar, as do the other dogs in the scene. Hmm . . . . .
Oh well! We'll all know the truth when the movie is officially released, I guess!

No, I'm not happy, I just thought you headed the wrong way. But I would have prefer him to be from another litter or being adopted. But I guess that's not really important now that we know he hasn't a major role in the movie. (which sounds still strange to me, since he's on the cover...oh, well...)
Another thing I still don't really understand (this pic made me think), is why they did have to make new characters instead of getting back the old ones, especially the sled dogs. Well, at least they won't suffer character/voices changes, this way...Maybe that was to give some work to various drawers?   (as one of them told me, Universal hire several drawers for making the concept art, instead of hiring only one like Disney does)

I'd suggest a nice simmering down.  It's not worth breaking a blood vessel trying to over analyze the movie plot.  And rarely does cover art do a Universal movie justice.  well, not Balto and not since 1996, anyway. ^^;

Yeah . . . . wait until everyone else finds out what happens only because there's no release date for the US yet!

This whole conversation is probably keeping us fans busy until the movie finally is released here.

Besides, I think it's getting interesting! Ahh, mixing genetics with Balto . . . education is fun with movies!



I also don't think us trying to figure out which dog Kodi is is spoiling anything. It's fun! It's like a guessing game of some sort! Whee!

Especailly, when it's animated. �Now, that is educationally fun to see what the animators did in the course of the movie goes. �

But, yet, lately, Disney, Universal and other filming companies haven't had a good movie cover for anything, anymore. �I liked the old covers of the 90's. �Those were interesting. �Now, they really suck a paw or two. �I'm sick of crappy covers.

A female goose would suggest, to me, that they've run out of a plot and had to throw another relationship into the story in an attempt to make it interesting. I have great fear kindling inside me. However, the animation does seems a little more promising than WQ.

As long as the Balto release date will come sooner OR later.  I don't care if it comes to video and DVD in February or March of next year.  I understand my friend, DSW is wetting her fur every time she talks about the whole thing.  *sighs*  I'm not saying I want it, I'm just saying a possible date for movie.  I'm not a director or producer.  But, I can help with the reasearching if you want me to, Steetboris.  I can really be a huge help to you...

Why do they have to keep adding the stupid geese and polar bears. Grrr. I suppose they want to have a wider span of different characters, but still, I only really care about the dog and wolf characters! The bears just get in the way and idiotise everything. (sorry if anyone is a Muk & Luk fan!

Yes, Kodi's in there, and he looks like Jenna without her ribbon.
He don't say anything, but a stranger thing to me, is that Balto don't say more than 3 words in all the trailer! And, I think that everyone who believe they heard Nikki or Kaltag's voices are confusing with the musher's voice. But I'm 99% sure now that they didn't return. They replaced them with new characters who looks the same. At least, it's better than seeing them "flawed" with new voices, like some other characters in WQ (who said Jenna?)
BTW, there's the german trailer : here
(click on Trailer on the right menu) It's the same, with german voices, but it's a bit clearer. I think the animation is even better than what we've seen in the japanese trailer

I noticed that Kodi is the sled dog/ Jenna-clone that's behind Balto on his right side . . . . �You can see this during the sled part of the trailer . . . I thought it was Kodi talking during that scene . . . �maybe I'm wrong!

It would have been nice if Kodi really did say something so that we know what he sounds like . . . .
I guess he really is the mix of both Balto and Jenna . . �Jenna's appearance (very obvious) and Balto's . . . . male-ness?

Yes You are. "Balto 2" was shown on Cartoon Network before it was released on DVD and VHS. (I think) it was a week and a half before. Oh and Juchan 17 if "Balto 3" comes out in January 2005 that's still a Winter month

Hum, I'm not really aware of the US release dates, but I think there will be Shrek 2, the collector edition for Aladdin, the same for  Mulan, the sequels to Aladdin, Mulan 2, Mickey twice upon a christmas, LBT 11, maybe Home on the range? And the incredibles in theaters. I think I still forget some.

Edit : I forgot to say that Balto 3 is out today in the netherlands. I know you're jealous, and I am too  
Edit 2 : While searching for a release date for B3 on the american Universal Pictures site, I didn't find any but found the LBT11 release date : 11/01/05. So, that's another proof it won't be coming before 2005.

If only it was The extinction, it would make things much more interesting lol, but no, it's The Invasion of the Tinysauruses. (much original...) And I read somewhere that a LBT 12 is in production, lol. I just wonder if in 10 years, they will have stopped, and if Disney will rejoin them by making 10 Lion king, Aladdin etc...
In fact, the only difference between Disney and Universal, is that Universal hasn't got many cartoon licenses, so they're exploiting them as much as they can...(Balto 4 in the near future? seems highly possible to me...if they don't change their marketing policy)

I'm not really sure 'cause he looks rather small, and I still believe it's a dog looking like Steele because the trio isn't there (at least, we have no proof of the contrary), but...what do you think?
EDIT 2 : In fact, it must be Kodi...He has the same markings, he's at the same position in the team, and the constrast may make him more black than red.

Yes, this is Kodi. Mea culpa. I still think he looks like Steele on this screenshot, though. It would have been strange that Steele would be in the same team as Balto. Poor Balto, his son looks like Steele...  lol !!!

Yeah, I can see it now:
The LBT gang encounters a mutant group of "tinysaurs" that eventually destroy the LBT dinos and then they get killed by the "astroid" that ends the era of all dinos. The end!



BTW, steetboris: Love the pic of Kodi from the trailer! Which one was it from? I do agree with Kodi's resemblance to Steele . . . that's a funny one!

It just depends, as always, on how much material they have left to use. Maybe something especially involving Muk and Luk (hopefully to get rid of them)? I dunno...

Balto 4? Hmm . . . . sounds tempting . . .  but no. That's way too much! Unless it eventually involves Muk and Luk going bye-bye . . .   Then I'll love it. Otherwise, leave the Balto series at three: Balto, Wolf Quest and Wings of Change. If you guys want more, write fanfictions . . . . those always work!

I saw Mystery of Manhattan Island, too.  Forgettable songs, rather weak plot, mediocre characters, but the bright spot is that it's kinda historically correct   .  But Universal actually did something right by not making any more after the Night Monster one!!   Unlike another series that we all know too well...

I think I actually made them lose their memory and they will release it now . . . !

But really, I think it would be nice to release it by the end of this year . . �for our own sake! We're going crazy! (Esp. me . . . with my ranting and crap)

They should at least put some good extras on the B3 DVD for the US, if they're making us wait this long!
