In the part of B3 during the song "You don't have to be a hero" and Balto looks up into the sky and sees lights create a scene with two dogs nuzzling...is that supposed to be Balto and Aleu or Balto and Kodi? It might seem stupid but I am just wondering this...

It's probably Balto and Kodi, considering that's what the song is about.
Thats what I was thinking but I wasn't sure
I guess Balto and Kodi.
I thought it was Balto and Jenna (I never really took the time to look) the first time i saw it. But i guess you guys are right. It must be Balto snd Kodi. Like you guys said, that is what the song is about. But i thought it was Balto and Jenna. Ohh well.

Umm . . . I actually think it's Jenna and Kodi, for some strange reason.
I saw a screenshot of the scene and both of the dogs in the sky have the same markings (like Jenna and Kodi), so that leads into another question: Why show those two when the moment is supposed to be about Balto and Kodi?
I wish I had the picture (but the site I found it on is currently frozen) . . . .
Maybe I'll watch the movie and find out (I just got it yesterday evening)!

I couldn't tell but I thought It was Balto and Kodi
Just watched the movie again (out of boredom) and it still looks the same . . . . .
I think it's still meant to be Balto and Kodi (since the whole song is about their father-son bond and everything like that), but it still didn't look like it.
Silly artists! . . . . Oh wait . . . . ^___^;;

I just watched the movie over again. And i think it is Balto and Kodi. But i guess you could be right Juuchan17. It could be Jenna and Kodi.

Or maybe it could be someone else .. . . . or something. . . . like some sort of symbolic meaning . . . .
I though it was Aleu and Balto at first but I guess its BAlto & Kodi...
I thought it was Kodi and Balto, since the song was focused on those two. It showed a scene of Balto looking up in the sky before that, and it would make sense to see him and Kodi together. I wouldn't think it would be about Aleu, since she only made a few brief appearances and the movie wasn't about her, so it wouldn't make sense.
But at least we can agree that one of them is Kodi, right?
If anyone has or can get a screenshot of this, could they post it here please? That would help a lot!

In fact, I always thought it was Balto & Jenna, but I noticed there was something strange
Yes. That is what i thought too, Steetboris. I thought it was Balto and jenna too, the first time i saw it. But i believe it was Balto and Kodi!

It would make much more sense for it to be Balto and Kodi, but then again, who knows... maybe we could use a little 'process of elimination' here.
-Balto/Jenna/Kodi/Aleu
OK, the entire story has nothing to do with Aleu, so let's rule her out.
-Balto/Jenna/Kodi
The song is about Balto and Kodi, so let's rule out Jenna.
-Balto/Kodi
Well, that's just my thought process, but hey, could by anything. Just my theory.

Well, it *seems* that it is Jenna & Kodi, but that doesn't seem really logical. I don't know...
Two words:
Animator Problem
I still think it's Jenna and Kodi (I mean, yeah they are much closer than Aleu ever was with her anyway. And at parts, like the ending and the scene when Balto and Jenna arrive to see Kodi at the beginning, their movements and actions help show their closeness). Jenna seems to care a lot about Kodi and his relationship with Balto and with her as well.
I guess I'll have to watch it again tonight (on a big-screen and not on a laptop! w00t!

Yea I just watched it again...it looks like Jenna and Kodi...but I don't know...???
...uh... does anyone have a screenshot or something for those of us who haven't seen the movie yet...? o.O
It probably could be Jenna and Balto.
One thing I find amusing is how they don't have the musher bring any supplies when he's racing the plane.

Maybe He wanted to travle lite?
Yeah, lite on the stomach.
Well, I thought it was because it was such a short trip, or maybe it was because the weather was good, so he thought that maybe he could just get there and back really soon...
One more thing in a race for Your job Who wants to stop for lunch especially if Your opponent isn't going to
I guess you got a point there, especially if you don't care about passing out from hunger and/or if you don't care about your dogs getting sick from not eating.
I don't about you but I think I would value my life more then I would my job, so I would stop to eat. Even in a short distance race, it's usually a smart thing to pack along some supplies just in case of an emergency. Wouldn't you think so?

I think they probably ate something before the race. Note that they were racing and when they arrived at White Mountain, they didn't even stop after they recieved the mail.
Anyway, back to the original question, I still think it's Kodi and Jenna. I still don't have a shot of this, but I'm still looking for one!

Good Point, But They have made That run many times before so They knew what it would take. Juuchan17's awnser is most likily the right one though
I think that the musher knew it was a short run, so he chose not to bring any supplies. Anyways, does anyone know how far White Mountain is from Nome?
It must be a short run, if the musher decided to not bring any supplies.

Well, White Mountain is about 50 miles from Nome, and it was a clear day, so.... Anyone know how far mushers travel in one day?
I found a shot of the original question . . Who's in the sky?
Look and see for yourself!

(picture from a Balto 3 photo album, I think a German one)

I don't see the bandana, so it can't be Jenna.
Yeah, you're right about the bandana Togo. I didn't see it either, so we know that it can't be Jenna. Anyways, I guess it must be Balto and Kodi.

Maybe she took the bandanna off? LOL . . .
Shot out of the dark . . . Kodi and Dusty? I mean, the markings are right and everything . . . but it doesn't go at all with the song . . . . crap!

I don't think it can be Kodi and Dusty, thery're a great couple, but the song isn't about them.
We can only dream, ne?
It could still be Jenna and Kodi though. She just isn't wearing the bandanna!

I don't think either Dog looks feminine so I'll stick with My original opinion of It being Balto and Kodi. As for Kodi and Dusty as a couple I still have hope for thees Two, Take a good look at the way Dusty looks at Kodi when they rescue Duke
Thats the same picture I put up here to,anyways I guess its Balto and Kodi,
Your right SimbasGuard! DUsty does smile at Kodi when they rescue Duke:D

Balto and Jenna speaking, Jenna starting to sing and a flashback appears.
In wich Aleu is at the biggining and then all the scene is about Balto and Kodi.

Actually, White Mountain is 77 miles from Nome via the Historic Iditarod Trail. The map in B3 severely misplaces White Mountain's location. This page shows the route for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race from White Mountain to Nome. Clearly the route runs along the coast.
According to the Iditarod Trail Map, White Mountain is much closer than where the movie places it. This screenshot shows where the animators put White Mountain. They put it close to Kaltag on the trail map.
Anyway, since Nome to WM and back is 154 miles, the musher certainly would had to take supplies. In the Iditarod, teams make the 77-mile run in 9-11 hours. In 1920s it may have taken longer to do that trip since racing Alaskan Huskies (which dominate dog sled racing today) did not exist at that time. 154 miles cannot be run straight through. The musher would have had to stop somewhere on the trail or in White Mountain.\n\n

Well In that case maybe the musher had A LOT of Beef Jerky stashed in His coat somewhere
Yes. I agree with you Coasterfreak. I knew Nome to White Mountain and back again was definitely a long trail. So I guess the musher had a heavy meal before he started out. Ohh well. Also, do Alaskan Huskies or malamutes dominate sled racing today? I though it was the Siberian Husky that dominate sled racing today? Thanks for the info.

To Simba: There probably was a shortage of beef jerky with the fat dog eating everything.
Wolven,
Alaskan Huskies almost always win races that are not restricted to purebred dogs in recent years. There have been some exceptions, most notably Blake Fleking and his team of Siberians (plus two Alaskans) winning the 2004 John Beargrease Marathon Sled Dog Race. The Beargrease is a 400 mile race on the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota.
Unlike Sibes or Mals, Alaskans are a mix breed dog rather than a breed. Alaskans are bred for performance and not for the show ring. Alaskans are a combination of Siberian dogs, native Alaskan dogs, and Western dog breeds. Most recently, breeds such as the German Shorthaired Pointer (I'm not kidding) have been bred into some Alaskan lines.

Coasterfreak,
I never knew that Alaskan Hukies or malumtes were a mix breed of different kinds of dogs. And I can't believe that even a Pointer was bred into Alaskan lines. I know you believe that Alaskan huskies are bred for performance and not the show ring, but I still think that Siberian Huskies are a better choice. I respect your opinion, (and I hope I wasn't to offensive when I said this. If I was, I apologize). Anyways, thank you so much for the info about the sled dog breeds. I was planning to enter my Siberian Husky in a show or race (if I can find other dogs). Thanks again Coasterfreak.

Thanks for correcting me, Coaster. I only yanked a map out of a cruddy atlas and measured with a ruler. oops.
Anyway, the map in the movie also showed the musher going to White Mountain in a straight path, which would probably have been impossible, since it seems so impractical.
