Even though they're remakes of Red and Green (which was never released outside of Japan), I still find the games to be of interest. Everyone always says that Red and Blue were the best of the series, so the best deserves a graphical update, correct? From the screen shots I saw from various on-line sources, I must say the game looks great. And the new cutscenes contain more than Ruby and Sapphire had to offer. Not to mention, the glitch from R/S can be fixed by using the Fire Red and Leaf Green.
I doubt that Nintendo will skip over a US release, so I hope the annocement is made soon. It would be a shame not to play these games and use them along with R/S and Colosseum.

Yeah, I heard of them. My friend was playing them on a ROM not long ago so he told me. I'm glad that they didn't really add anything, and that they helped out the first two games from dying completely. But still I say "Bleh" to it. I've gone through it once, why again? Oh well.

I applaud the revamping of the original pokemon games. Personally, I've been "blah"ing at Ruby/Sapphire. I find they have a very low selection of "go to" pokemon. (And so I'm stuck leveling to get past the volcano, with the usual pokemon curse of no good place to level).
There's just too many things going on in the latest incarnation. Varitey is important, but I don't think all the extra things they've added to the game provide good quality varity. I could do without contests, berry farming (I'll play Harvest Moon if I'm gonna raise crops) , and multiple bikes. But, I am much like the grizzled old gaming giezer in many respects.

I have to agree with you on some of those points. It's nice to have stuff to do during the game, but most of those points don't aid in leveling up. The contests are fun if you're bored and tired of battling and berries are, eh. I occasionally enjoy feeding them to my team. I don't enjoy the rules set by the battle tower, seeing how it is hard to find a level up spot in the game. As for rare pokmon hunting, I'm still working out those clues. And how I hate that Acro bike. X_X;
So yeah, it'll be nice to see a classic pokmon game. I just hope it gets a State side release.

I've just seen the comercial for the Fire Red and Leaf Green games, it looks and sounds very interesting? I might have to buy it for myself. Seeing there is classic pokemon in it. I only like few of the pokemon in R/S, and bikes and farming thing didn't work out for me either. The HM Dive was dumb in the first place anyway, and comparing the Red,Blue, and Yellow versions to R/S, I'd say that R,B,Y are better. There wasn't any berries that had to be picked or ugly pokemon lol. It was just plain and simple, So I might buy FR and LG when it comes out.

I think I may pre-order it since it'll be out in a month.
I never really used Dive much, but it had it's uses. I found interesting things in the sea floor and it's the only way to get some Pokmon. In battle it works the same way as dig. A nice way to avoid 2-turn attacks, like solarbeam. ^^

Pretty nice offer, but I don't have the money for it. So I'll just bordly wait until it comes out in stores.

Nice bundle, but I really don't want that much. I mean, I don't like Nintendo Power enough to have 12 issues sitting around the house, that and I already have Game Informer. I also already have a pair of stero headphones for the GBA SP. I got them for free when I mailed in a holiday offer that Nintendo ran. ^^;

The guide is very usefull for me, If I have a problem on a game I get the guide out. But couldn't live with out a guide(not sounding desperate). I was actually the first person in my whole school to get a GBA SP, when I saw it in the newspaper, I started to save up my money for it.

I just use the text guides that can be found at places like GameFAQs.com. They're almost as good, they just lack pictures. That and you usually have to wait for them to play the game first, then write the guide. So it's a little harder to find stuff for new games.

I'm with you Silver. I go to Game FAQs for everything. Even if given a players guide, they tend to not be the most helpful since they normally only give hints. If you wait for an FAQ, It'll spell out everything in excruciating detail.

I only use the net for the PS2, I can't afford to get guides. I thinks guides are very helpfull actually. But people like diff. things.
83-106196071623 Aug 2004, 04:54 UTC
You mean, for 14.95 all you get are hints with pictures? That sucks. O_o; I guess that's why it's a guide and not a walkthrough?
70-109096490523 Aug 2004, 13:36 UTC
Well its a walkthrough, I just call it a guide. Where I can get em', they're usally $20.00.

Well, yes and no. It differs from time to time. For instance, One part of the guide will give step by step instructions on how to find the rare item. In another portion, it may only give the general location, leaving it up to you to figure it out. I may have exagerated slightly before. Most of the time it is the detailed directions. Only every once and again do they make you do the work.
But they're such pretty pictures.

I just bought the game yesterday, I love the looks of this, It's better than what I expected!
69-106279399517 Sep 2004, 01:05 UTC
I got the Leaf Green bundle pack a few days ago. I also like the looks of it. The game is presented in a much clearer, more vivid way. I love the addition of the running shoes. It's much easier to get around.

I still don't have a copy. I'll get one sooner or later though.
69-106279399524 Sep 2004, 03:24 UTC
I've been playing Leaf Green a lot lately, and I really like some of the new features. Having never played Ruby or Sapphire, the biggest change to me was the 2-on-2 battles (I assume that's when it started). It makes it very interesting planning out the moves before hand. It also requires a little more strategy than the 1-on-1 pound-the-crap-out-of-'em style. Status effects are made much more useful in the 2-on-2 also.
I know I won't regret this purchase.

I don't have any time to play mine at all, but I'll find some this weekend.

I got a copy for Christmas and so far, I'm impressed with the updated graphics. They look even better than the ones in Ruby and Sapphire, but only slightly. The only thing that disappoints me about the game is the user friendly aspects. I think Nintendo went a little too far with that. I don't need an adventure recap everytime I turn on the game. It's useful if you don't play for long periods of time, but annoying if you play everyday. To make matters worse, you can't even skip it. Other than that, I can't wait to see what was added and or changed.
I'll pick up the game again, right after I finish Fire Emblem.

The recap is extremely useful for those long hiatuses. I'ver had many instances where I turn it on and think, Now what in the world was I doing?
Technically, you can't skip it. You can, however, speed through it by hitting the "A" or "B" buttons.
70-109096490526 Jan 2005, 22:26 UTC
I think you push start, I think that's what it said in the instruction book?
69-106279399528 Jan 2005, 04:41 UTC
Well, it turns out that all three of us are wrong. You can move through it faster by hitting the "A" button, or it can be skipped totally by pressing the "B" button. The other buttons do nothing during the recap.
Amazing what can be accomplished when you just read. ^^
83-106196071630 Jan 2005, 02:55 UTC
Read the manual? Unheard of! Yeah, shortly after my complaint, I did start pressing A to skip the recap, but I didn't know B completely skips it. In better news, I've also found the running shoes. No more walking for me.

So have you played the Fire Red Pokemon game. I am i have to return it today and i'm close to the end, but I'm stuck!! Sorry but I'm not sure weather you would concider this off subject, sorry again.
83-106196071631 Jan 2005, 16:19 UTC
Not me, sorry. I've only been playing Leaf Green.
