If you had known everything you did about the Pokemon games when you first played, or when they first came out, whichever, then what would you have done? Who would you have chosen? The same starter, or a different one? Would you create an awesome team, or neglect training anyone? Would you just wait for silver and gold, spreading rumors here and there about what's to come?
I would have just started over... did everything I've done before. Played the game like someone should, no cheating or hacking, enhancing or using the rare candy bug to their liking. :P Heh heh... pick my Charmander again... but then I can't wait for Ruby/Sapphire cause of Poochyena/Mightyena. >_<

I'd probably act psychic and spread rumors about all the newest versions, but play like I'm supposed to, until I beat the elite 4, then start using cheats to get all the Pokemon. So, my starter pokemon would be the same ones, mostly cause I grew very attatched to them over time...
Yellow- obvious...pikachu (nickname-- MasterRat)
Silver- Totodile (nickname-- Toto, then Cocoa)
Crystal- Cindaquil (nickname-- Kintopeo)
Sapphire- Torchic
Yup..those are my starters. I never was a grass person. I like master rat! XP

Well, I probably wouldn't go all out with the rare candy like I did in Blue and Red. As for Gold and Silver, I'd still clone stuff, as it's really needed at times. And I haven't done anything out of the normal on Ruby yet. ;)
As for Blue, I'd probably keep Squirtle as my starter. It was just cool to have, even though, I really like Charizard in the end.
Silver- I'd maybe go with a Totodile,as I'd probably have another fire pok�mon (such as Houndour or Growlithe) down the road.
Ruby- I really, really liked Torchic, but trying a Trekko (sp? is tired) would be interesting.

First I would not use Gameshark on Gold and end up erasing my game data. Although it was cool having all shiny pokemon

As far as training goes, I would do the same as I always do: Fire (Charizard), Grass (Venusaur), Water/ice (Blastoise), electric (Pikachu), and flying (Pidgeot). I know I said all three starters, but I legally trade with another person to get them. When I can't trade I usually pick bulbasaur. I still like the original pokemaon better than the new ones. For #6 I usually do Psychic *cough* Mewtwo *cough* but I occasionally change it depending who I'm going up against. It has always served me well.
