Did you Get your copy?

Ruby and Sapphire

Started by Silver Huskey on 21 Mar 2003, 03:59 UTC · 21 preserved posts

I got a copy of Pokemon Ruby as soon as it came out!  The numbering system is all screwed up, and i haven't seen a single first or second generation Pokemon yet, but it's great!  The graphics in some respects are so realistic, the music has more depth to it, and it's just overall enjoyable.

So does anyone have a copy yet?  If I not I suggest picking it up, there's a good chance you won't be sorry. ;)

And as  a bonus, I caught the wolf pokemon.  I can't remember the name, but it's cute.

Hmm, i have yet to purchase, (lol you should look at my pokedex on Silver), but hey, i have 20 bucks in my wallet and ive been wanting to purchase a new GB Advance game, so i might as well get me a copy ^_^

*ears droop* ...No GBA...But I'm sure my friend would get both! He's just crazy about it!
*covers her face with her paws* Nooo!!! Oh woe to me, and my retched life! I have no gameboy advanced....aaah! *beats head with a paw*

Mind if I join in? *sits next to alueus and starts to hit head with his paw* Oh woe is me...
If you can't afford GBA how about getting a rom for the time being? It doesn't have all the features, but it should hold you guys over. ^_^;
Well, got me a copy of Sapphire last night, allready enjoying it, now if i can only get my level 100 mew over....
Hello people! I reserved it.. I have yet to pick it up.

If you have any questions about ruby or sapphire, ask! I can answer almost any of them.

I just got my copy of Sapphire yesterday! It blew me away, and as with my Blue, Gold, and Crystal versions, I'm addicted! ^_^ The graphics are incredibly realistic and colorful; I especially love the water effects when stepping through a puddle, and the incredible new battle animations! The music and sound effects just seem to pull you right in, try playing with headphones and the option set to 'stereo', and you'll see what I mean! ^^ This game is better and more fun than I ever dreamed it would be, so if you love Pokmon, you won't be disappointed, trust me! :biggrin: I can't wait to trade my Suicune, Entei, and Raikou onto it and see them in new Advance action! And I can hardly wait to see Absol (Abusoru)...
*Ears press forward* Rom? hhmm...heard of it, but..I dunno. *goes off to investigate*

umm, just wondering, at the first gym, what's the leader's strength? i have a level 15 Torchic, a level 3 and a level 5 Poochyena and a level 5 Makuhita
it doesnt matter, you should be able to defeat him... the things you have to worry about are gyms 8, 7, 4 and 6.

I'm making slow progress with Ruby, but I just got done with the first Gym.  And I have a Torchic too, and trust me, you'll want to be at a good level.  The gym leader uses Rock Pokmon at level 13 and 15.   You should have a strong grass, or water type with you.  Then again Pochyena worked for me.  I just used sand-attack and bite. ^_^;

Oh and I hate to crush your sprits, but the new GBA verisons aren't compatible with the older verisons.  Which means you won't be able to trade with a time machine. Read the whole article at RPGamer.com:

I find that to be a big let down. :(

nm the first gym, i was worried, till my torchic evolved, lol, didnt have to use a single potion
lol yea... you might want to be careful, silver, with the second gym... evolve your torchic asap! it will learn an awesome move... or was that level required? i forgot.. one of those. anyway that move helped me beat the elite 4.

Fight lots of wild pokemon! its worth it! the elite 4 has level 54 as their lowest and 58 as their highest! lots of dragons and flying types, ice, ghost and i think fighting. not only that steel is the last one. be wary and carry lots of revives, at least 20, and make sure you have groundon and yer torchic's last evolution.. make sure they are AT LEAST level 50. even so, make sure you have a full team, lots of full restores too. and get a couple hyper potions. when you evolve into the third evolution for torchic, you will learn this very awesome attack.. i forgot the name but its a fire attack, 10 pp though. it hurts a lot.

after beating the 4th gym.. i think its the fourth gym.. its the one on the mountain, you will get that one move the gym leader keeps using on you... dont use it yet! save it until later. oh! and i suggest evolving that one wolf pokemon.. he gets cool attacks too.. i beat the elite 4 twice so far and he was 28 when i did so the first time. if you can get some good pokemon, then you're set. not only that but when you get... what was it.. i forgot english name, sry but one of those legendary birds.. i think its name is latios or something, it will add a strong addition to your team. get that one seagull and teach it fly or something. get a magikarp and get it to a gyarados, easiest way to do this is train in that cave above the 4th town or so and give it exp share first! when you evolve it, teach it surf, and surf around in the cave, you will fight level 30+ pokemon and the occasional level 6.

if you need anything else, just ask... course no one asked for all this info did they?

i found out at a local gamestop that Poochyena evolves at level 18 to Mightyena (cant wait to get there hehe), Iceburnedd, i will fully follow your advice, thank you very much for the information
Thanks for the info!  I just got done with the second gym today.  My Pokemon were a few levels low, but they got the job done. ;)  I even took out a few trainers with my Ziggacoon(sp?). ^^

My Poochyena is only 3 levels away from evolution.  I stopped leveling up to raise a few new pokemon I caught.

you will love Mightyena trust me, mine's up to level 29, :biggrin: i battled the Mauville (spelling?) gym, lol i lost 4 times then on the 5 time, by a miracle i defeated him, determination pays off :)

Awesome! My Mightyena is up to level 28; I love my new team, it consists of Mudkip (lv. 29, I strategically kept it from evolving 'til this next level..for some reason..), Mightyena, Manectric, Kirlia, Torkoal, and Machoke. I love my Mightyena and Manectric to death, I used them twice in two-on-two battles, and they rock together! ^_^ (Manectric, if you don't know, is an awesome wolflike Electric-type, which evolves from cute 'lil Electrike. ^^) I'm currently in training-mode, since I just got my fourth badge, so when I feel that my team's ready, I'm ready to battle some more Gym Leaders! :biggrin:
boy, wouldnt it be nice to be able to trade over the internet....lol
Murr... I haven't been playing recently.  I got backed up with school (college sucks), and other games.  Not only am I playing my Gameboy but i'm also playing a Playstation and SNES ROM.  I just finished up a game i've been playing off and on for two years yesterday. XD

I just hope it won't take me that long to beat Ruby. ^_^;
