How Would You Live in Nome?

I've had a question nagging at me for a while now, but I only just got around to posting it. � If you were in the realm of the Balto Universe back in Nome, how would you live? �

By that I mean would you be a wolf living on the outskirts of town, a sled dog, a town dog, someone's pet, a human, another type of animal living outside of Nome (like a lynx) or something else? �I guess i'm saying not only how would you live, but what would your role be in Nome?

If I was living in Nome, I'd definately be a husky. �Given my nature I'd probably be restless living as a pet, so I'd probably be a working dog. �Given the situation, I'd most likely be a sled dog. �I wouldn't say a racing dog (too lazy), but probably one of the dogs that worked around Gold and Coal mines at the time. �When I wasn't pulling sleds I'd probably remain in the background only having a mild interest in the events of town. �

But enough of my ramblings, how about the rest of you? ;)

Jolly good thinking topic, Silver... While I would strongly prefer to be a wolf living in the wilderness around Nome, my general personality type precludes me from being a pack creatire. From this, and the undeniable fact that I think far too much, I suspect my most likely role in early 20th century Nome would have to be that of a Soviet Spy. LOL.

An alternative option would be a role as an atmospheric scientist or astronomer - studying either the polar climate or the aurora borealis. A few decades after Balto's time, the area near Nome came to be used for some rocketry testing (if I recall, correctly): and it is certain that there were atmospheric research activities going on across northern Alaska during the 1920's.

i would have to say being an animal in Nome at that time period would be a hard decision, let me explain:

you are a pet: being "soft" you are susceptable to being attacked and killed by the rough dogs/strays around town.

you are a sled dog: very likely chance of having a bad owner who treats you horribly

you are a wolf: umm, lets see, people have a strange desire to kill you on sight?

you are another animal: you are a major food group for anything alive.

^.^ life in Nome is rough... i think that the two best choices would be a sleddog with a good master or a *wise and indetectable* wolf out in the wilderness, can you guess what i would pick?

o, just noticed i could pick human... Nah, why would I want to be a human in Nome? I'm already am a human in Connecticut ;P

BTW Silver, good thinking, there has been way too much silence in the Balto department lately...

Aha! Fun fun.

Lets see, I think I'd be a sled dog, also a husky, or maybe malamute. Because I like to play and always want to run around, I'd be in one of the racing sled dog teams, because I love to compete, though I'd most likely lose most of them ^^; pheh. And if'n not that, I'd be a stray doggeh, prowling around teh streets doin' my own thing, but I'd be one of teh friendly ones who people like ta feed. mwee.

This may sound lazy but I'd settle for a housepet,namely a husky (a black one!).I'd love to be in the company of my loving master,relishing the warmth radiating from a nearby fireplace.Of course I don't mind pulling the sled for my owner if I had to.A little outdoor activity never hurts.

i would be a wild husky.i had a bad owner,so i ran away and became wild and joined a wolf pack.

  I'd have to say I'd be a wild wolf.Been captured sometimes, kept as a pet but ran away.So my choice is wild.I'd be seen glancing at the town or roaming with my buddies.

   I think TLW27 explained it very well, and it really made me think.

Me, i'd be a wolf, i wouldn't inparticually play any role in a pack though, just be there, you know what i meen, thats about it. does make you think though.

Yeah, I think I'd be a wolf. Good question, though. Yup, either a wolf, or a guy livin' in a cabin with lots 'o' guns

Or maybe a workin' husky with a good matser, but I'm not sure. But then again, amybe a guy with some kinda transmogrifyer(yes, transmogrifyer) thing that could turn me into anything, and it's like; "I wanna be a wolf today" BOOM! a wolf. "I wanna be a guy today" BOOM! a guy.
but, a hard choice.

I would likely be a lone white wolf, with the look of the WW in "Balto", but with Aniu's eye color, as in my avatar.  I would be a guide to those who were lost in the wilderness, be they human or animal.

Otherwise, I would be a famous sled wolf dog, pure white, with the same markings and eye color as Balto.

What interesting choices you bring up Lone. ;) �I have to admit I never thought of a few of those.

With so many lone wolves running around in pack territory life outside of Nome would be interesting indeed. �So, Varg, would that be as a human, wolf or other? �^^;

I would most likely be a lone wolf by myself living away from town. Mainly because I would be chased away if went near it. As if that is much of a difference of what I live now. That is what I would prefer to be in the balto universe. It would be no different of a life of what I live now. I would of course check out girls when I got the chance:) If I am lucky I will find the right girl and I wont be alone anymore.
