This caught my attention a while ago. A lot of us here knows about Balto's mother. But what about his dad?
What did he look like? How did he came across his mother? Etc, etc.....

Balto's father

Hello
Snowy did a concept picture once where Balto's father (on a sled team) is surprised by the appearance of Balto's mother in the trees (as image that has since disappeared). I always liked that vision of Balto's parents first meeting; there's nothing very formal about it and the idea has always seemed very believable to me.
As to what happened with them afterwards, over time my vision of that has become less and less "fairytale" like. It started out very positive with Balto's parents trying to stay together and having secret meetings until *gasp* something goes terribly wrong and Balto's father has to be taken away. I still think that Balto's father must have been involved in Balto's childhood in some way, as everyone in town seems to know that Balto is part wolf. I think that Aniu may have looked for Balto's father after the pups were born, and in doing may have revealed the secret.
Of course, that is all pure speculation, but it's still fun to think about
.
I really haven't thought too much about what Balto's father might look like...hmm, always envisioned him as a pretty ordinary husky, but beyond that...can't say I have any specific ideas there. What are everyone else's ideas?

It's been mentioned before by others, But I think Balto must have gotten His looks from His Father. As for how Balto's parents met......I think(As do Others)that it would make a good Prequel
It would make a good prequel...fun to find out about. An ordinary husky is what I'd guess, but as SilverWolf said everybody seems to know he's part wolf. Could be...since they have so many wolves around they just know what they look like? *shurgs* Naww...
SilverWolf-But, that sounds really cool! I think that'd make some awesome prequel idea =D

Yeah, that would be a good prequel idea. As for Balto's father, hmmmm... Well, maybe he looks like an ordinary husky, but a bit like Balto ie fur color, facial features. As for how they met, well, I dunno, cause Aniu doesn't seem like the type to wander into a town or city, so I guess then Balto's father must have met her in the wild somewhere???
my theory has always been that baltos mom was a wolf and balto's dad was a husky even before the creation of the sequel. my reasoning is this:
balto was obviously an outsider and lived on the outskirts of town. had his mother been a husky, she would have raised the litter in town and he would have been given away/sold to a family. because his mother was a wolf and raised him in the wild, he was therefore considered a wild animal and had never been part of society, so therefore he is shunned.
Since balto's dad could have very well been part of a sled team im sure he and baltos mom had to part ways at some point, seeing as how balto's dad is a pet/means of transportation and didnt have the freedom to stay.

Maybe he is in Balto 3 Wings of Change!
You never know until you find out!!!

Yeah, in Wolf Quest Balto says something like "Ever since I was separated from my mother..." (I think it was Wolf Quest) That ays something.
lol i love all the pre-story theories. I agree with thornwolf's though ^_^

| (I think it was Wolf Quest) That says something. |
You're right it is. We met Balto's Mother in "Balto 2"(Or at least She was revealed to be Balto's Mother in "Balto 2"). So it would be nice if We met Balto's Father in "Balto 3"
Definitely have to agree with what's been said about Balto's father. Not taking Wolf Quest into account, if he (Balto's father) had been a wolf, Balto's life would have been very different. So different in fact, that he could have been passed off for a full dog. I mean, if Balto's parents had a secret relationship, who would have known the true father was?
But because Balto's mother was the wolf, his life turned out as such. Seeing how he wasn't completely wild and not in a pack, either he was raised near Nome, or she was a lone wolf. Something probably happened to cut Balto off from her and his siblings. He might have been old enough to fend for himself at the time or was partially raised by someone else. Either way he must have taken a liking to racing, maybe because of the husky DNA with in him? Or knowledge of his father? *shrugs.* The rest is history, no pun intended.

He was raised by Boris...or at least that's what Balto says in WQ!

Uhh...did some of you know about LBT 10? For the first time since the wave of DTV sequels, Littlefoot find his father. Perhaps we will have to wait for Balto 10 to see him, lol!
LBT 10?! O.O Whoa I gotta see that! XD
I've not seen it completely but I can tell you it is MUCH more interesting than the other sequels, and the animation is also really good for a sequel. I would say it is the first real sequel to LBT
And I'm serious!
Let's just hope it will be the same for B3

Okay....they need to stop with the LBT's already.....*begins to plot the downfall of Universal*
Hehe...anyway.....it would indeed be interesting if we could meet Balto's father....a good prequel, that's for sure....

Cool...-scurries off to find LBT 10- Did it just recently come out?

I agree with you, silver..
Also I think the same as aneiryu it would be interesting if they make a prequel of Balto and they show his father. With that would be enought for me xD
These are all interesting theories. Until the sequel came out, I thought that his father had been a wolf, and his mother the husky. After reading this thread though, I can see why it would make sense for his mother to be the wolf and his dad the husky. I think it would be cool to see what his dad looks like.

I Thought the same thing too. My thinking was, If Balto's mother was the Wolf Balto would have been born into a pack. Insted of being a Town Dog. To Alsatia Wolf: I think Land Before Time 10 came out in December of 03
Yes, it came out last year.
I agree with Silver Huskey too, and it makes things more interesting that his father was a dog and his mother a wolf.
However, I'm not sure if a prequel would be so interesting...I don't think they would spend a complete hour on it, it's more possible that we see flashbacks in the upcoming sequel(s?). Don't forget that this is still a movie for everyone...and I know the little kids wouldn't like that.

I think a pre-sequal would be great, how baltos parents meet and Balto as a pup/cub!
Mm yeah. Y'know there's so many movies that we fans would like to see prequels of. This and The Lion King springing to mind. You'd think teh makers of those would see that and give us rabid fans what we want =p
A lion king one would be great to!

Hehe...it's definately interesting to see that many people seemed to think that Balto's father was a wolf.....but when you think about it, that wouldn't have been possible....what Silver said was right on target....tht is the reason why I thought the opposite....and thought that his mother was a wolf....

Thats a good point steet... The movie will be interesting for all balto fans, but I don't think it will be interesting for all of those children who doesen't know anything about Balto, but in the other side it will be a nice way to start watching all the movies (in chronological order)
A prequel would be nice for us older fans. But the children are a point I never considered. A prequel would be a bit dark. Seeing how Balto was all alone, in the first movie, save Boris and the bears.
Yeah...tha may be true....but you know what....I wanna see one anywoof....I think it'd still be interesting....hehe....probably be better than either WQ or B3....though I dunno about B3 since it's not actually out yet!! hehe....
i agree. make a balto movie simmilar to lion king 1/2
They could give the "Balto" Prequle a PG rating(This Of course won't happen). I would also like to know how Boris became Muck and Luck's Uncle
yeah. did boris take them in too like he did with balto?
I'd also like to know how Boris became Muk and Luk's Uncle. Another thing that I'd like to see in a prequel is the reason why Boris left Russia for Alaska. Although I already do have a theory... because of the Russian Revolution, perhaps???
I'm not even sure the writers have ever thought about that...but that would still make an interesting prequel, in case that one day they would decide to do one. (which, IMO, is very unlikely...)
Well some things in both movies (WQ and Balto) were a bit incomplete... a GOOD prequel could fill those gaps... but lets wait for B3 to ask for a prequel... we don't know what they have prepared for us... so its better to wait I think
yeah. for all we know, all our little questions may be answerd.
