What do you think of the new cover art?

I've noticed that over the years, the Balto cover art has declined in quality. It looks so cheap! The original clamshell case for Balto 1 was beautiful (I mean, it really, really looked good! )but the newer case... first of all, Balto's ultra-fuzzy upper lip just freaks me out. Looks too much like Tramp from Disney's Lady and the Tramp.

Ok, I'm getting off subject, so, as I was saying, the covers on Wolf Quest and Wings of Change don't look that good, either. They can't even seem to get basic porportions right! Well, okay, the American version of Wolf Quest was OK, I think, but the one with the purple Balto next to Aleu... you get my point.

So... what do y'all think?

I didn't like the WQ cover, but the WOC cover is my favourite.

I think,the balto cover is very good(I like the colour),and the WQ cover is good too.(Anyway,I like the animation more than cover,

The original VHS cover for Balto was the best...well, not exactly, actually, the one I prefer is the german cover, which is totally different (it's on my site) and much better. I also like the Wings of Change cover. All the other covers make the film look like a cheap one, and it was really stupid from Universal to do such cheap covers.

Wow..you guys were harsh on these covers..does anyone here have any clue how tough it really is to come up with these designs and render them the way they are now..sorry if this offends anyone..not trying to, just was curious?

Yeah, I guess in a way we are, but really- they look downright cheap. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm as big a Balto fan as any, but don't you think they could look better?

I agree, the colors are nice and vibrant, but I sure wish they could not give the characters that distorted look mentioned by GreyKitty.

Of course, never judge a film (or book) by its cover.

I won't.

I really dislike the WOC cover. It just, dosen't look right to me. I thought the WQ cover was good.

I have to say I love the original Balto cover more than anything else, the composition was good, it had a lot of detail and really carried the spirit of the movie. I honestly hate the US Wolf Quest cover art and the newer original art too. That is not Balto on the front it is more like some sort of Border terrier, either that or Balto had really let himself go in the years after the original and forgot to shave..

I don't really like the German art either as it looks like it is thrown together with a copy and paste in Microsoft Paint.

Wings of Change is an improvment on the last ones I think and the European Wolf Quest one was bland and boring.

So far i like the WoC cover for the Balto series. I didn't think that the first Balto cover was that great, because all they had was Balto's head. And c'mon, they didn't even have the right color for Balto on the cover of the first movie. So i really didn't like the cover for the first Balto, but i really like the cover for WoC. As for WQ, the cover was a little better, but not the best. However, the WQ cover was better than the first movie. Ohh well!!!!!!!! :laugh:

I like the cover art on the VHS, the DVD, doesn't look that great. But the WoC cover art is pretty good too.

I dont have a special need for the cover, for me it could be a white blackground and black text, because not the wrapping matters but the content.
Anyway i hated the text on the back of Wolf Quest it was horrible i hated it! (the ones who translated the text are pretty wierd)
But the first Balto cover and info was pretty good in quality.
