Well, my story was this, it happened a few years back, I was at a mall and found this CD called "Balto", it caught my attention, but at that time, I wasn't very keen on buying since i was'nt a fan, so years later, which is today a few months back, I was reading a newspaper, i turned to the page to that day's theme, it was about dogs. Balto was featured, its description of the movie was good, so remembering the CD, I bought it from a local store a few days later....thats when I became a fan.

I saw it in theaters, and that's when I liked it.
I saw it on Sky 1 as it never got to the cinemas here.. I recorded it when it was repeated and have been obsessed ever since
For me it's just the fact I love animal animated films, and seeing Balto mentioned about, it caught my eye as something that might be good. Was slow to hit off with me, but now I love it!
I saw it last christmas for the first time...and not entirely. But it caught my attention, so I bought it a few months later on DVD. I loved it from this time, and I can't even count how many times I've seen it...Especially because I'm often watching it in pieces, I've got it on my hard drive now so it's easy
I knew the real story and when I saw the movie I,like Acanis, became obsesed. I became coocoo, gaga, crazy over Balto. I watch the movie almost every day. Go Balto!!!
My Mom took me to see it in the Theaters, I was only five at the time but i still became obsessed with it. I made my mom take me 3 times to see it in the theaters, and once it came out on VHS watched it every day. I'm not joking I really did watch it every singel day before I went to bed, and I still watch it 4 to 6 times a week
I got it and just liked to draw it I guess. I love balto's animation!
Well, i don't want to go into details about my own reason for becoming a fan, but let's just say that it got me out of a bad situation i was in... (not a physical problem like a drug addiction or anything, more of a depression problem). I was stuck in my room for the day since my parents had cleaned the room beside me and i couldn't step on the carpet. So i watched a Memorial day marathon that was playing on Cartoon Network and, sure enough, Balto was on. After watching it, i felt like a completely new person and became a very large fan myself. Looking back on it now, i see that watching this movie and, in a sense the character himself, saved my life. Without watching this i would have never realized that i have potential as a writer or have met any of the good friends i have on this and other sites, especially my mate Verta *smiles with a blush*
And so, thank you Balto. I would've been lost without you ^_^.
And so, thank you Balto. I would've been lost without you ^_^.
*wags at Fluke* I met someone named Acanis in a Yahoo chat room about 4 1/2 years ago, and though I wasn't a Balto fan at the time...I might have seen it at some point then, but I'm not sure...I watched it when he mentioned how much he loved it, and I became a fan of the ORIGINAL Balto but I'm not exactly a sequel-fan. The first was a very nice story, and based enough on real events to be even more interesting.
Plus Balto and the community have introduced me to a lot of pretty cool people, some of whom I've met in person.
Me? I used to watch it when I was little because my dad wanted to see it. I never really cared about what they said at first but when I grew older, I started to like it more.
I really didn't know anything about the real Balto, and I had never heard of the movie. While surfing around on the TV, looking for a show, I stumbled across Cartoon Network's Cartoon Theater. Being a sucker for animated movies, I stuck around to see what was on. After watching Balto for the first time, I was hooked. Over time, I read up on the real story, bought DVD's, and read some fanfics (And when I say some, I mean a couple hundred pages); and now I'm a diehard Balto fan. Balto actually started my on-line life. I never did anything on the internet before then.
Well...this is interesting. I would like to say it started when I first saw it a long time ago. However, I didn't even become a fan until late 2002, to be perfectly honest. And the strange thing is, it was because of WQ that I became a fan. I was watching Cartoon Network's Cartoon Theatre, and I saw WQ on. It was the first time I saw WQ and I was, for some reason, amazed by it.
Actually, to be honest, again, it was cuz of that, that i became so intersted in Animation. Anywoof...after seeing WQ (it was around christmas time) I decided to buy the origianl and WQ, cuz I vaguely remembered that I enjoyed the first when I saw it before. Now, when I bought it, my parents did not know of my sudden fascination with animation, so when I asked them to buy them for me (I didn't have access to any online stores or any way to pay for stuff online at the time), they both thought i was a littel strange...hehe...
(not that I'm not strange, of course...). Anywoof...again...I got them both and when I watched them, I was totally amazed at the story, the characters, the actors who played them, the music...all of it...especially the white wolf scene. It was then that I became a true Balto fan. Ironically, I now find that WQ is not a very good movie (at least, not as a sequal, but as a movie itself, i liked it a lot). After that, I proceeded to draw a lot of fan art...most of which I have not posted online. And, some of you may know about the story I am TRYING to write...it is now an original story....but it actually originally started out as a Balto fan fic....lol!
hehe...ok...that's enough...I was about to rant even more....lol...

I saw Balto years ago on TV and I like it. But I never bought the movie untill about 2 years ago when I saw it again on TV. Then a random google search, a few days after I saw it on TV, brought up a few balto pages. While reading them I got more interested in Balto and decided to join The Balto League then The Icy Boards a few months later.
I saw it in the Theater in 1995. The interesting thing a Year prior to that(Give or take a few months)I saw The Lion King wich I thought(And still think)is the Greatest movie I've ever seen. I thought to Myself "How long will I have to wait before I see anything that was anywhere near as good as that. Then when I saw "Balto" It struck the same emotional cord in Me that The Lion King did, and to this day "Balto" is the only movie I rank at the same level as The Lion King
Mine isn't a particularly glamorous tale, nor is it inspiring or compelling. Mostly, it was dumb luck. I just happened to pick up the movie one day, when I was looking for animated movies I haven't seen, and I rather liked it.
I got a fan back in 1997 where Balto finally were released on video in Denmark.

Well, I used to only watch Disney movies, and as a result, missed out on movies from many rival movie companies. About 2 years ago, I started watching the animated movies that I missed. I was shopping around and saw Balto on the shelf, and after reading the description of the film, I decided to buy it. After watching it, I became a fan, and purchased WQ a while later.
Well...I count myself as a Balto Fan, but not an exspecially active one. I never wrote a fanfic, drew very little art about it, never watched it repedativly or anything. I wanted to see it in theatres but nobody would take me. It made me mad. I don't have any memory of the first time I watched it. I dug it out a few years ago and decided to watch it. I liked it alot. It was the only animated film besides All Dogs Go to Heaven and 101 dalmations that I knew of that featured canines as the main characters. I don't remember how I found the forum here, but I'm proud I did. I've met some wonderful friends here, even best friends. The people here caused me to come back often and I drifted away from a crowd that wasn't doing me much good.
I thank Balto for that.
I thank Balto for that.
I started to like it when it was released on Video in Germany. First I just watched it because I loved dogs, especially Huskies ^^.
I really don't know what made me a balto fan since I was 5 at the time but what i do know is when I saw it I was hooked! I know I sound crazy to non-disney fans (if there is any) but I guess Balto kinda reminded me of aladdin and jenna reminded me of jasmine and since I like aladdin maybe that's why or perhaps it's the storyline the backgrounds music or characters I really don't know all I know is I'm a fan *waves a balto flag*
Well I got into it when I got into Wolves which started when I was 5, I always loved it and I'm getting all three movie for chirstmas
cool that's probally why I got into lion king but the opposite though
mmm *thinks a bit* The first time I saw the movie It was in 1998 in television I remmeber that I loved the movie, but since I was very child it doesen't hit me too much... but I remmeber that I love it... For some reasons (I believe Family problems) I forgot all about it... December of 2003 when I saw it (God Bless for 12083108 time Cartoon Network) I became very addict xD to it (Also the fact that it was based on a true story makes it more interesting)... now I'm searching for the DVD... Well a couple of months ago I discover this community and well I joined and (as like Vesta said) I met really cool people thanks to balto =)
I got hooked into Balto, when I was young (like 10), when me, my brother and my dad rented it on video, because my brother (he was 14) said that this movie is cool, so i watched it with him and after i was hooked and amazed at it. After years, i forgot about Balto, then i watched it on Cartoon Network when they showed it, and i started thinking about the past, and thats when i got hooked to it and found this site.
In spring 1997 I saw this article http://www.balto.de/archive/album03/BravoBericht in a German music and teenage magazine, I liked how the dogs are drawed and I only thought I must see this movie
all of your guys' ideas are interesting mine is just stupied huh
I wouldn't say that KodiLover. Your reason is just as valid as the rest of Us, As far as I'm concerned
As with a lot of you guys..I remember seeing it on CN sometime in late 1998, and was hooked ever since..though It took a few years before i could find A reasonable deal to buy it..I now have both DVD's and are looking in preordering B3's DVD...
@ simbasguard: thanks I appericate that
@ Lowes4803: ok but you do know about the dvd codes and all that right

I first saw the theater advertisements on TV, but no one could take me at the time. I never forgot how cool the movie looked and I jumped at the chance to see it on the Disney Channel. After one viewing (although I had missed some of the big WWS), I was instantly hooked. During another showing on the Disney channel, I taped it and I've been a fan ever since.
Well, my story's a little weird; it comes in two parts. ^^
When it was in theaters in my area, I had no interest in canines, was "too old" for cartoons (aside from Chuck Jones stuff) and I wanted to see Toy Story(the main reason Balto never made it big was that movie being released at the same time) as it was the ground-breaking 3D computer animated movie.
A few years later, mom borrowed Balto from the library as an aid to a study we were doing on the true story of Balto for school. I liked it a little, didn't really care. Still had no interest in canines.
A few months before I joined this board, mom borred Balto again from the library for my second brother to view, for the same study my other brother and I did years ago. I was bored, so I watched it with them.
It all clicked for me. Remembering the true story, and now that I had in interest in canines, I had a motivation to find out if this movie was popular, as noone ever talked about it.
I just started taking the Internet seriously (I used to be a Yahoo! chat troll), so I punched "Balto" into Yahoo! and came upon TIC, and then TIB. Realizing how many mature people liked Balto, I decided to go ahead and pursue learning all I could about it. Ironically, TIB is what started my use of the Internet as not only a tool, but also as a community where I could meet real people. In fact, Silver Huskey's site and friendlyness is the way I fell into HTML, which led to Java, which led to perl, which led to PHP, which led to...
In short, Balto was a life-changer to me. That's... strange... o_O\n\n

Well I remembered that Balto was a true story after I watched over 100 times and it clicked in my head! lol! I should find out a little more about Balto, so I went to some good history websites and found out. Then I found all these sites and here I am!
Weird how you just stumble onto sites you never have seen before, lol.
that's interesting firewolf
Hmm,Well I was like 7 or 8 and me and my brother were bored at my grandma's house. so,my brother was flipping the channels, and then I saw a husky. I got mad at him because he wouldn't change it back to the channel. So I went upstairs to my room (the room where I slept in whenI was at my grandam's house)and desperately flipped the channels trying to find the huskies again. Finally I found it,and once I saw Balto,I instantly fell in love with him. I watched it the 1st time on Cartoon Network Theater. I had already loved dogs so I guess the movie had an impact on me. Then knowing my grandma, she bought me the VHS for Christmas. I was the happiest 7 year old girl ever! And well...here I am today... my love for Balto will never die!
You know, I never knew how I got Balto on VHS? I got the movie somehow? But I don't know! *thinks* Chrismas or Birthday I don't know which. lol!
I saw it on TV last christmas and i was enthusiastic about this movie so that i decided to buy Balto and Balto 2 - Wolfs Quest some days later.
Both films were wonderful and for that time i'm a great Balto-Fan
