Whoo, that re-enforces my opinions about him!

i remember that screengrab in the book Engel has. They might have done it for relevence and time.
That thing about the white wolf being female and coincidentally his mom really ruined the original movie for me. I had always thought it was a dude.

the hardcover where it has balto and star crossing the ice bridge83-106196071629 Aug 2004, 03:25 UTC
If anyone wants, I could dig up the book, and make a scan. I found it to be pretty strange. And the white wolf thing was so contradictory. I don't know what to think anymore. O_o;

I'd love to see that picture Silver Huskey

79-109362624029 Aug 2004, 12:15 UTC

I hate it when this argument is used...
Yes, BUT the book also says that Dixie is a malamute, and that the WW appears at the top of the ravine and howls to Balto(immediately after the first encounter), which NEVER happens! There are tons of other errors as well, I just can't think of them off the top of my head, since I haven't read the book in ages. That author should be shot.
Oh, and here's the pic:

I think that image also appears in more places I can't remember where off the top of my head. I will have to check out all my Balto stuff for it!
Sure location, breed etc can be mixed about. I don't think anyone is sure of a lot of breeds in Balto but I think gender is important enough to get right. Would be like mixing up whether or not Balto was male or female. The book has concistency in the gender area to be able to believe. Whitewolf is male and not Balto's mum but instead a representation of his wolfside (his mothers side) which makes him a symbol and symbols are mostly unisex. If it was a symbol of his mother it would be female, but it isn't, it is a symbol of his wolf side, his wild side, the part of him he has ignored so long :P
65-106196054229 Aug 2004, 17:08 UTC
Well, it's not quite as bad as mixing up Balto's gender, since the WW is a very minor character in the whole scheme of things.
See, the thing is, I don't mind others having an opinion differing from mine, I just don't want to be told that my opinion is flat out wrong, which seems to be implied. Or, perhaps I'm just paranoid?

Wow, this is really interesting. The deleted scene must have been at least a few seconds long, because I can't see when it was in the film (well, it's in the beginning of course, since Rosy seems to not be sick at all, and she has her hat on)
But, another thing, I'm 99% sure the other pic on the right isn't in the movie either! Maybe it's from the same deleted scene? What's your opinion?
It's so much a shame we didn't get these deleted scenes on any dvd...

If you said the sky is a funny off colour violet with gold and brown spangles with just a hint of baby puke yellow and then it was pointed out that infact the sky was blue, then that is taking the evidence laid out before you and coming to a conclusion. Same in this case and also I am just repeating what I was told by someone who actually worked on the movie production. I am not saying that you are flat out wrong (as you could be very colour blind and see the sky as a different colour and not blue) but the evidence implies that another conclusion is more right.83-106196071630 Aug 2004, 04:32 UTC

Probably another deleted scene. I don't remember that in the movie either.
And yeah, it would have been a nice extra to have on the DVD. Too bad Universal is so cheap when it comes to such things.83-108302525630 Aug 2004, 04:33 UTC
One other thing to consider. In every Lion King book I have(made before Lion King 2)it says that Simba and Nala's Cub is Male. That is not the case. "Balto 2" dose not say Aniu is the same White Wolf from "Balto" I just choose to think She is. Maybe "Balto 3" will clear this topic up once and for all. Oh and cool pic by the way. Thanks Aniu 1983

that would be nice. but maybe they want to keep the white wolf and or aniu mysterious...which, in out case, would suck.

Seeing that Balto is short, even for an animated movie, it's possible that there was more than one deleted scenes. I was thinking, there must be some art from these deleted scenes? I've seen some on the storyboards, but it's the first time I see a fully rendered picture that isn't in the film
Maybe Universal decided to keep all of the artworks from these deleted scenes, in case they would release them on a DVD in the future...?(I've heard that they will release a special edition of LBT 1 with all the deleted scenes for the 15th anniversary, don't know if it's true though) 70-106196059230 Aug 2004, 17:08 UTC
I have pictures of Backgrounds which were not used in the final, I need to get that page back up on my site.
I also own a background that never got finished, a pic of Balto's boat, it is a really nice piece of artwork too.

When I saw the movie for the first time, I thought the white wolf was a spirit, so my opinion would rejoin the "wolf part of balto" idea.
About the picture of the left, I can see a place where it could fit in the film : just after the scene with Steele & the trio making fun of Balto, and just before the scene with Balto going back to the boat and seeing the wolves on the mountain. If he was chased again by Rosy's father (as well by the other dogs), it would then explain why he is so much depressed...I'm also wondering which is that green store we can see in the background, perhaps it is Rosy's home, or where his father works?
As for the picture on the right, there isn't really a blue sky like this in the movie, except perhaps in the scene where Balto looks sadly at the sled departure from his boat; besides, he has more or less the same expression on this scene as on this picture...

I would really want to see that, I think it would be interesting to also include this "deleted scenes" picture in the page, because I've never seen it anywhere.
EDIT : About the picture from the left, I have noticed that the background is similar to the one Here
, and this background is not in the final movie either. So, it is the hardware shop, hum? Maybe Rosy's father works in there? 98-108879604718 Sep 2004, 18:03 UTC
Very cool it looks like an interesting part too.

I may be kind of late but I didn't even know that there was a novel about the movie. I might have to pick taht up...

That is one of the backgrounds I had on my site Steet, I must get that page back up and running
