Yes its right.
The scene where Star imitates E.T behind the ice block, is completly ripped and used in the new Disney movie Brother Bear. (But with a bear instad of star of course).
Man. i Really dislike Disney...

I've not seen the movie yet but it reinforces my belief that Disney has lost all it's originality...

It has.. It also include a scene from Lion King (Disney anyway.. so) and my girlfriend recognized a stolen background painting from spirit, stallion of blabla.. =P

I saw the movie but dont' remember anything resembaling the balto E.T scene like you said. But it was a pretty long time ago.
I never notcied the LionKing scene other than the caribou, unless that's it. It looked pretty close, with all the close ups of them, and their leaping over things. But it isn't illegal to have more than one movie with a stampede in it.
Could you write out what happened in the scenes? I probably just forgot.

Hello
Spirit was done by Dreamworks, and I highly doubt that Disney would use a background from another company's movies in their own...
...I don't remember those scenes either; I'll have to check that once it's available to rent...

The scene Asgeir is talking about is the scene where Koda (the baby bear) looks around the ice JUST LIKE STAR!!!
It makes me so mad! 84-106196075205 Mar 2004, 06:34 UTC
I noticed it but it didn't bother me. Wanna know why? People are always copying ideas off other people, there isn't much originality anymore...I think you're making a big deal about something small...

I agree with Tala. I'm pretty sure its not there's no copyright to *looking around ice* or *falling down a cliff on a dogsled* (since we can also then say that Snow Dogs ripped off Balto) or *running thru an ice cave* since..Tomb Raider would have ripped off Balto...or any of a myriad of similar scenes in a million films. Its not a big deal, and I don't buy the *stolen background* theory either, since a cloudy sky looks like a cloudy sky. Disney in my opinion is not the evil menacing beast it is made out to be here. Its not the artists fault nor the writers, or the guys at the theme parks pushing $4 bottles of pepsi. Its the fault of the fat cats and folks like Eisner who push push push for revenue... Disney has some very talented artists, or did, till they fired the lot of them here in Florida. When you think about it, EVERY company wants to make money... and the fact that there will BE a Balto 3 proves that. Just my two cents...

I'd say there were a lot of elements in Brother Bear that were borrowed from other movies. In a lot of places, it felt like TLK. And I also don't remember seeing a rip off screen from Balto. However, that doesn't mean I'll enjoy the movie any less. It's extremely hard to come up with something totally original nowadays anyway. If you can name something that's not rooted in or has references from something else, kudos to you. ^^;
And I'll have to agree with Vesta and Tala, Disney isn't *that* bad.

I thought I better point out that the bit with the ET reference is kinda up for grabs anyway. Balto wasn't the first movie to make that sort of ET joke especially as it was a Speilburg movie and he puts as many ET references in his movies as possible (personally I would prefer to forget that nasty little Mr Hanky look-a-like)
