in the original Balto? Do you think it was too blocky and square? Or do you love it?
I noticed several times that Balto's hind legs were somewhat rectangular throughout the movie. Not to mention that his legs were a little too skinny (sp?), making his paws ridiculously huge...even for a wolfdog. I like the animation, but was wondering what you all thought...

well, it was fine, and i love it, no matter what he looks like,.. the movie is best that ever is, and it is based on true story, so there is no complain! Balto is one of best dog there ever is and you think, he saved many children of nome, and my grandfather is one of those children, and thanks to him, i would not be here today!

Yes, I did notice those minor inconveniences in "Balto", but they never bothered me much. I noticed that the whole film had an 'angular' style that is different from Disney, and made it unique.

Yes it is the style of the animation, most companies/studios have their own styles for each animation e.g. the guys who made the rugrats *shudders* have that awful sketchy style animation. Balto was a bit blocky but I think it was purposely that way. I liked it though, it was different.

*shudders at thought of Rugrats* Don't do that!
lol! I would have to agree with that. It is the style. That's alright, though. I still worship the movie anyways...*bows*

I liked the animation in Balto, And didint think anything was worng untill My Mom(God rest Her Soul)pointed out that Jenna's feet were to small, though I think they did that on purpose to make her look more feminine

I think you just have to accept everything for what it is. If you wanted to pull the movie apart as far as animation is concerned, you would have to comment that polar bears are nothing like that, snow geese can not mop decks and that bear was completely wrong. But that takes the fun out of the movie.

That's true, Fluke. It is a animated movie, after all.

Agreeable argument, Fluke. "Psycho analyzing" the animation in Balto kinda takes all the joy out of it. =/ However, I will say that I like the animation in Balto. It's like none other as far as I know, and I think in part thats what makes me love the movie so.
(Plus the story line kicked-ass

LOL! True. Eh...I was just curious. I mean, I've heard so much about how people didn't like the animation in WQ, but I've yet to hear anything on Balto.

Just in case Anyone is Wondering Jenna's Small feet don't take anything away from the movie it's just something I noticed when it was pointed out. I don't mean to sound like I'm picking on the movie

I liked the animation in the movie. When I first saw it, I thought it was some of the best I've seen. Nearly six years later I feel the same way. After all, one has to remember that animation is not completely acurate, nor is it meant to be. No one animates nature shows after all. Besides if you pick apart the flaws based on the fact that they should be anatomically correct, then you're setting yourself up for a big disappointment.

You're right Silver Huskey,What I'm trying to say is I realy don't care that jenna's feet are small,I am in no way disappointed in the animation in Balto83-106196071102 May 2004, 18:49 UTC
I love the effect animations and the art direction.

Well, when I first saw the movie in '02, I didn't find much to complain about animation wise.

The only thing that really bothered me were the big eyes. Bug eyed cartoons scare me.
83-106196071611 Aug 2004, 06:02 UTC
I've seen worse in old school anime shows. No one does big eyes quite like the Japanese.

So true. Those eyes are scary.
I love the animation in Balto. I think, for the time and it not being Disney it's some of the best. I enjoyed the style too.

to make this short...I worship and solemnly swear that it has some of the very best animation of all time..trust me..I've seen quite my fair share of animated movies and will say this one is truly among the best ever along with TLK...

I feel the same way. You took the words right out of My mouth, They were stuck in There with My Paw

Balto was a bit too barrel-chested for my taste but I still love the style regardless. I think balto's big feet made up for the ridiculously small size of Jenna's toothpick legs. No wonder she hurt her ankle...those little sticks cant support her massive amount of floof!
83-106196071615 Aug 2004, 16:02 UTC
LOL Thorn! I've actually never though of it that way. Poor Jenna, that must be why she's only a pet. ^_^;

I though the animation was great. What some american animators turn out now is just disgusting.
The original Balto took a lot of work and even had Steven Spielberg as the Executive Producer.
I like the original one the best and hope the third one has more of the characters from the original.
