Is this who balto is named after?

I remember reading that Balto was named after a Norwegian explorer who Seppela admired.. I found this book on eBay, the name fits, so does the location and the time period..

Hmmm...interesting. You're probably right, Fluke. This seems right. I, too remember hearing about that. I can only guess if it's true, though.
